The jar has four rows of almost squares with one row being clear so you can see inside the jar and then a row with cut glass that really makes it stand out. The jar is quit heavy which makes me believe that it is cut glass and very thick. The ring. Which holds the top, handle and lid look to be brass; a magnet WILL NOT stick to any of them. If you look at the picture of the top of the lid you can see it has lots of leaves or leafs in a circle on the top. The lid also looks to have a small dent on the outer edge, which has no effect on the lid setting in the cradle correctly. ... moreThe brass looking collar also has some discoloring on it that I will let you polish out. The jar stands 5-3/4" tall, has an opening of 3-1/2" and the base is 3-1/2" across. In the harder to find OVAL form. Three pieces: the silverplate holder/base with swing handle, the silverplate lid(with finial) with foliate decoration and the cut glass oval insert. Four ball feet and orb at top of swing arm. Measures about 7 3/4" x 5 5/8" and 9 1/4" tall to the top of the swing arm orb. CONDITION: Antique item. No problems with silverplate. Just a touch of tarnish in a few spots and some fine scratches typical of antique silverplate. The glass insert has a series of losses along the upper rim. Most are noticeable with the lid off. Up for auction is a wonderful handmade cut glass biscuit jar from the 19th century. This beautiful glass jar features deep cuts and intricate patterns giving it a wonderful look. The top of the jar yields a silver plated handle labeled EPNS and a fitted metal lid. This piece measures 6 inches tall by 6 inches at its widest point. The piece is in good vintage condition. The lid has some flaked paint while the glass it self has light surface scratches. A minuscule chip on the bottom, and a few flea bites. Nothing major. This is a great collectors item! Antique English Cut Glass and Silverplate Covered Biscuit Jar 19th C. Charming barrel-shaped cut and engraved glass biscuit jar. With silver plated top and handle. The jar is cut with a ring of starbursts and is engraved with flowers and leaves. The base is rose cut. The silverplate top has some illegible pseudo-hallmarks. From the shape of the marks and the style of the jar, I judge that this biscuit jar is English, from the second half of the 19th century, circa 1875. The biscuit jar is 8 inches tall with the handle up(6 1/2 inches with the handle down) by 5 inches wide. It weighs 1 lb 12 oz(shipping weight 3 lbs) Excellent condition. No chips or cracks. ANTIQUE AMERICAN CUT GLASS BISCUIT BARRELS Beautifully faceted. These biscuit barrels were a 1933 wedding present to my grandmother and then passed on to me. As lovely as they are, they do not go with my décor and taste. Each barrel measures 10" high x approx. 7" in diameter. Basket weave edging is on the lid and on the body. A( 6)pointed star is cut into the bottom. The barrels are quite heavy( 6 lbs.each) as the glass is just over ¼" thick. The condition is perfect- no chips or cracks whatever. They were proudly displaced atop a china hutch for the last 80 years!

Lovely cut and etched glass biscuit jar with a hallmarked Sheffield plate lid and handle. The glass biscuit barrel has four different etched glass medallions of flowers. The base is cut and polished pontil with quite a bit of wear from age. This lovely Cut Crystal Glass Biscuit Barrel/ Cracker Jar measures about 9.75" tall with the handle up and about 5.75" to the top of the crystal section. The crystal is in quite nice shape. The glass is clear with no chips or cracks that I can find, although it could use a cleaning.
