Old Antique Square Ball Blue Glass Fruit Canning Mason jar Qt Selling Collection
Hello! It is time to send my jars forward to new owners. I am offering some old favorites of mine. So keep watching my auctions for combined shipping deals. This auctions jar is a real nice ball blue square quart. the base is a 10 mold, there is a good old zinc cap that comes with this jar, I have checked the jar carefully and can find little case wear or use scratches from my close exam. This jar was barely,if ever used. no nick,crack,sickness, etc. This style of jar was always a favorite of mine, they pack together so tightly when square! This is a"Ball" Soft Shoulder Canning Jar. It is blue with a Zinc Ball Lid. There are big bubbles. Small bubbles and a wavy look. Ball" is the only thing on the jar, however on the bottom it has the#3 and a"P" It is 7" tall and 3 3/4" in diameter. This is a nice vintage jar and would be great for a gift or a collection.

Blue Ball Ideal Bicentennial Canning Lid
Authentic Blue Ball Bicentennial Canning Lid. This was a bicentennial reproduction authorized by Ball. The lid measures 3 1/8" across. I came across this in the crawlspace of my home which leads me to believe that it was never used but simply a forgotten remnant of past storage by previous owners of my house. There are no signs of wear such as chipping. Scuffs, etc. Manufacturing imperfections such as tiny bubbles are present. This jar is from a friend of mine's farm in central pa. We are doing some renovations to his 1850s farm house and we found this and bunch of more just like it. The jar has imprinted on it R.E Tongue Lustre Phila. Pa. patnd.july 14 1908 it also has a#7 on the bottom and two small G G on the neck. It is a one quart size with a glass lid and wire bail the wire does have some rust on it. Ask any question but leave enough time for an answer.

The jar is in excellent shape w/ no chips or cracks. This lid is in near mint condition as well as the glass seal. The jar is dated from 1900 to 1923 by researching clues from the site of ball jar collectors. The glass seal and the perfect mason embossed lettering as well as the centering of the ball mason logo is used to date it. It also is a side seam jar which further dates the jar. It is a Ball Perfect Mason Jar with Number 10 on the bottom. The zinc lid has the good housekeeping seal and the glass seal has number 10 embossed on it. Up for auction is a WONDERFUL piece of décor that was made using a#7 Ball Blue Perfect Mason Jar with zinc lid and Vintage Wood Toy Alphabet Blocks(14) Also included is a wire basket with handle. The Ball jar dates 1923-1933. The blocks dates probably to 1940. The lid does not come off, it twists but I have not forced it because I was afraid I might break it. There a few bubbles in the glass when made. A#7 is imprinted on the bottom of jar. The lid has the porcelain insert which is in very good condition.The to of the lid does have some discolorations. There are a couple minor chips on the inside rim of the jar shown on picture 3. Experimental design for BALL glass jar. This blue jar has the 8 gripper design that Ball experimented with in colored glass from 1933-1937. These jars also had the ring. Circle, design on the bottom, too. Clear jars from 1940- 1960 did not have any of these ribs, but in 1961 the 6 gripper design was introduced and used until 1970. I have an intact aqua blue BALL Ideal jar with the pat. date reading July 14. 1908. has the clamp down lid completely intact I found it this past wknd. this particular one does have a bit of rust/ corrosion on the clamp but it's an awesome piece. I'm not quite sure what the 10 stamped on the bottom means?
