The silver plate is made by William ... moreRogers Manufacturing Co. the bottom is marked"WM. Rogers Mfg. Co. and then reads"Rogers" with an anchor on each side. There are also the marks"Quadruple 448" The anchors date this piece to 1865-1867. The insert is a very pretty opalescent light blue satin glass with a diamond hatch mark design. Please see photos as I am doing a terrible job of describing the beauty of this piece. The glass is slightly bluer on top and more opal on the bottom. There is wear to the rim but no chips. Cracks, or other damage to the piece. The silver plate holder is very decorative with a floral design and a ruffled edge. The lid of the pickle jar has a brighter finish than the rest of the piece and I am unsure if it is the original lid. Please make your own determination. The decoration on the tongs has floral elements but also may not be original to the piece. The pickle castor measures about 10&1/2" tall and just over 6&1/2" at its widest and the glass insert measures about 4&1/4" tall and about 3&1/2" in diameter. I cannot find the pattern for this piece and I know this glass design is rare- this is over all a stunning and unusual piece and would be a perfect addition to any collection. This castor is 12 1/2" tall and stands on 4 ornate feet. The jar is in the"Daisy and Buttons" pattern. Normally called"Vaseline" or"Uranium" It glows brightly under black light lamps. This is one of the more stunning vaseline jars I've seen in many years. It glows with natural sun light alone. All the photos provided were taken with natural sun light shining through a nearby window except photo#4. Which obviously was taken with a black light lamp nearby. There are no chips. Nicks, cracks or stains in this jar. The"W" representing L.G. Wright, is imprinted on the inside base as shown on last photo. The lid is probably not original and fits tightly. The silver plating on the tongs. Lid and frame is in great condition and I have no reports of any damage or abuse. Please do not assume I am an expert with the items I sell or that pickle castors are all original or"Mint" Unless specified as such. An antique red cranberry glass pickle castor jar and cover. Note the hand painted enameled floral design. Original gold gilding and blown out panels as well as the fern sprigs in relief. There are 3 panels with hand painted flowers and 3 panels with fern leaves. Dates to the late 1800’s– early 1900’s. The silverplate cover is a good fit, no makers mark, no engraved monogram present. Measures a full 6 3/4 inches tall. The jar measures 4 1/2 inches tall. 3 inch top diameter and 2 7/8 inch base diameter. Condition is good as there are NO cracks. Internal staining, paint loss and 95% original gold gilding present. There is a chip in the top rim. Gorgeous Victorian Period Purple Glass& Silver Plate Pickle Castor. A beautiful color with the Glass insert featuring a lovely Coin Dot or Thumb Print pattern. The Silver Plate has no dings or repairs but will need a polishing as it is sold with its original patina. The Tongs match the castor this is an original set. The set displays beautifully. Standing approx 11" tall by 4-7/8" wide and the Insert measures 5" tall by 4" wide. Some items are heavy and needs large box for shipping. In a previous listing I had a Van Bergh Silver Plate Company Pickle Castor with its original pressed glass jar in a starburst pattern. A buyer had her own"prettier" jar and only wanted the metal castor. So now I have this jar available for the MANY people I see with castors but no jars! The third photo is the mark on the castor I sold. The last photo is an example of what the jar looks like with an appropriate castor. This jar is 4 1/4" tall. Including the 1/4" lip. The bottom is 3" in diameter, 3 1/4" with the pressed glass design beginning 1/4" from the bottom. The lipped top has a 2 15/16" exterior diameter. I believe this piece was made by Mount Washington in the"Rose Amber" line but other makers are also possibilities(any help appreciated) The jar has a dot optic design and is nicely decorated with floral enamel work. The insert measures 4 1/2" high. 3" across at the top, about 3 3/4" at the widest point and 2 1/4" at the base. A silver plated lid is included(a fairly good fit but not original) This piece is in very good estate condition. The only flaw I find is some roughness on the rim-not visible with the lid in place but see photo to evaluate. This is a really special pickle castor jar and sure to be welcome in any collection. It is decorated with very nice enamel work of gold leaves and scrolls and blue flowers. The insert measures 4 7/8" high. 3 1/8" across at the top, about 3 1/2" at the widest point and 3" at the base. A silver plated lid that fits nicely is included. This piece is in very good estate condition with no damage, significant wear or restoration found. One Vintage PICKLE CASTOR made in ENGLAND with one pickle fork and one mounted drip cup. Glass jar in metal basket. Frame carries the pickle fork and the drip cup. It is 8 3/4" tall to top of handle. The glass jar is 3" square. The fork has Silver Plated and England on the back. Glass jar is 6 1/4" with the lid on. The metal basket has England on the fork hanger mount on the metal basket handle. Great Collectors piece! This antique pickle castor was my grandmothers. It has no markings on it. Only the fork which is also silver plate. It is marked"made in England" and" Silver plate" The piece is in excellent condition! There are no chips on the glass. The silver plate needs cleaning but is in good shape. As it sits. It's not quite square and one"foot" is slightly elevated above the other three( kind of sits slightly cock-eyed) The silver castor measures approximately 9 1/4 inches tall by 3 inches wide.
