The cannister is porcelain lined with the porcelain showing some crazing but no cracks or chips. The metal shows some very minor brassing but the piece displays very well and is ready for use. It measures about 9 1/2 inches high including the bale handle. It is about 5 inches in diameter at it widest point. Shipping weight. Well packed, is 4 lbs. English fox hunting scenes ... moreare depicted in a very detailed manner. With lots of movement– as the chase is on! Long, thin, rectangular shape- with a slightly unexpected tall height. The tin has a hinged lid and once contained biscuits from Scribbans Kemp. It dates to circa 1954. There is generalized patina on the tin for an antique look. The vintage wear and patina includes some small areas of wear. Some small scratches and scuffs, some handling marks and soiling, some small dents and dings, etc. Lid is a little more muted than base and has some noticeable soiling. Noticeable denting on front side and one end of base. Some sticky sticker residue on front side. A few more noticeable scratches here and there. Still fairly small. Much of inside is covered with dark patina. There is rust inside- around the interior crevice. And around the upper edges and around the lid, including at the hinge areas. Several reverse dings and some other normal wear on bottom. Hinges seem attached well enough and they move freely until they hit a kink when the lid is almost closed. So there is some wonkiness to the open/close situation. And a little coaxing is required. Again. Condition issues of note: NOTICEABLE DENTING ON FRONT SIDE OF BASE AND ON ONE END. Lid is more muted and has noticeable soiling. A few more noticeable small scratches here and there. Some sticky sticker residue on front side. Some rust inside– at crevice. When you look under a magnifier you can see some very minor tiny scratches and a few tiny pieces of the petals in the blue flowers missing. I enlarge the photo so you could see the part of the tiny petals missing. There are no other issues. This is either hand painted or enamel or maybe both. I'm not sure if you can see this color in my photo's but there is a wide light pink border that runs though the center of the piece. The lid could be pewter and has some plate wear. No dents. Maine Estate Antique Biscuit Jar Barrel Satin Glass with Lid Nice Condition
For your consideration is a very pretty Antique Biscuit Jar fresh from a Maine estate sale. The jar is in very nice condition for its age. The glass is a satin white glass with floral motif and has no signs of cracks or dings. The metal lid with finial is in good shape and appears to be some sort of base metal. Perhaps pewter but I do not know. The condition of the metal lid and handle are commensurate with age but have no glaring flaws. Age of piece is unknown, but I feel it is late 19th century. I am not an antiques expert so I will let you decide. There are no markings anywhere on the piece. This is a large jar measuring 9 inches to the top of finial, and 11 inches with handle raised. The diameter at the widest point is 16 inches. Very attractive biscuit jar. I ship quickly and I pack my items for safe arrival. Many thanks for looking.

This is a beautiful antique biscuit jar with a cut glass jar and silver plated lid and handle. The jar is in very nice condition. The glass is clear with no chips or cracks that I can find, although it could use a cleaning. The lid is marked EPNS"Made in England" and is good condition as well, with no dents and fits securely on the jar.

Antique English Etched Glass Biscuit Barrel Jar Silver Hallmarks Engraved Plate
This is a beautiful old biscuit barrel or biscuit jar from England. It has many hallmarks on it. And I am unable to decipher them. The first is W.H. in an oval. The next may be the"and" sign(ampersand) The third is an"S" The sixth and seventh appear to be"M.P. in a shield over a circular encased"A" I am not sure about any of this. I tried to photograph as close as possible. On the other side of the metal rim is an engraved number which appears to be 275167. This may have been an identifying number in case of theft. The jar is heavily etched with ferns and other floral sprigs. The metal lid is engraved with various etched leaves, ivy, and birds. The jar measures about 6 1/2" tall with the handle down and 9" with the handle up. It is about 5 1/4" wide at its most bulbous part and about 3 1/2" ... morewide at the opening. It came from a lady that lived almost all her life in London. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or damage other than the multiple shelf scratches typically seen on the bottom of old glass pieces that have been moved around when not on a doily.
