The powder jar measures 4 ¼” tall(to top of domed lid) X 2 ¼” bottom diameter) The jar is in very good used antique condition. With one small chip to the bottom rim, and roughness and discoloration to the hand ground neck(which appears to have had a cork or fabric strip surrounding the outside) This strip would have held the lid tightly. And it is currently ever so slightly loose. The domed lid is unadorned but for the monogram. And has two small dimples to the top. This is a very beautiful jar! The gold lid has a richness from the gold filling. It is possibly a powder Jar. It measures 3 7/8" tall. Approx. 4" across, is 11 1/2" in circumference at its widest point. The heavy lead crystal bottom has approx. 30 very deep wedge cuts all around. The high points of these cuts are also cut many times on each wedge. The bottom is cut in deep cuts to make rays in a circle. There are no chips, or cracks in the glass at all. The lid fits securely and is gold filled and marked as that. It has a Fleur-De-Lis that is raised and edged in beautiful gold work-swirls and filled ... morewith enameling of green and white. There are kind of bee-shaped forms in a circle that alternate with the stones. The colors in the bee shapes are separated by tiny gold beading and filled with enameling. The colors used in the bee shapes are blue, white, red and dark blue-each color held in tiny gold beading as in cloissone! There is 1 tiny indent at the side of the lid and the one missing small stone. Everything else is just perfect! The stone and the dent are so small as to be hardly noticeable. The jar has no makers names or marks. There is a 1/4 inch by 1/4 inch chip on one of the feet and some smaller chips on the feet. The brass lid has a small dent. The enamel on the cloisonne lid is in good condition and I do think it is original because it fits so well. The jar is 4 1/2 inches tall and 4 inches wide. This very refined Victorian Jar has been in our family for decades ~ my Mother kept pine needles and dried violets in it. And, what a treat it was to join her at her vanity dresser and be allowed to remove the lid, and smell the garden inside. Jar measures 3-1/2" wide x 3-1/2" tall. As you can see the wooden lid(appears to be walnut) has wee wormholes. Which was not unusual on antiques this old. Inside the lid. Appears to be a final coating? paper mache? The design in the glass is remarkable ~ a stripe of dual large circles. Then a stripe of a trio of jagged edge(sawtooth) And the creme de creme is the large flora design on the bottom. Antique Clear Cut Glass Jar w Etched British Royal Crown& M" Monogram: No Lid Up for auction is a very unique piece that I purchased at an estate auction with a lot of British royalty collectibles. It's an antique cut glass jar with a terrific etched crown and the monogram initial"M" It makes me wonder if was the property of a royal-perhaps a princess or princess if there have been any with an"M" initial in the last 100 years. This is just a guess) The jar has no lid and is 4" tall. There's a top lip fitted to hold a lid. If one could find a replacement lid that was metal this would indeed be a special piece. A lid replacement would need to have an inner fit diameter of 2 7/8" and the lip of the jar is 7/16" tall. There is a single chip on the edge of the lid lip with a little crack but ... moreall this would be completely hidden if a non-clear lid was found. The jar is cut into 8 panels. There's some surface scratch wear on the bottom as in the last photo which is from normal use. I'm uncertain of the jar's age. It could be early 20th or even late 19th century. Antique English Cut Glass and Silverplate Covered Biscuit Jar 19th C. Charming barrel-shaped cut and engraved glass biscuit jar. With silver plated top and handle. The jar is cut with a ring of starbursts and is engraved with flowers and leaves. The base is rose cut. The silverplate top has some illegible pseudo-hallmarks. From the shape of the marks and the style of the jar, I judge that this biscuit jar is English, from the second half of the 19th century, circa 1875. ANTIQUE AMERICAN CUT GLASS BISCUIT BARRELS Beautifully faceted. These biscuit barrels were a 1933 wedding present to my grandmother and then passed on to me. As lovely as they are, they do not go with my décor and taste. Each barrel measures 10" high x approx. 7" in diameter. Basket weave edging is on the lid and on the body. A( 6)pointed star is cut into the bottom. The barrels are quite heavy( 6 lbs.each) as the glass is just over ¼" thick. The condition is perfect- no chips or cracks whatever. They were proudly displaced atop a china hutch for the last 80 years!

francejar Offered for sale is a most intriguing cut glass jar with bronze metal mounts. The pattern features deep facets that form raised diamond shapes. These are further decorated with a sharp fine cut pattern. The skill of the maker is demonstrated by the top view of the domed shaped lid. Likely a vanity jar of sorts. This stands 5 3/4" high to the top of the pineapple finial on the cover. It is 3" high to the rim of the bottom portion and 2 7/8" diameter at the base. This is marked Made in France on the rim of the hinged cover. There were a couple of small flea bites noted on the glass. One is near the bottom of the jar. And another on the rear of the lid. These are shown in the enlarged photos with the ball point pen for reference. There is scratching on the bottom of the ground and polished base consistent with contact ... morewith a table. Antique vanity powder or cream jar has been in the family for over a century. The lid is approximately half a pound in weight. The jar itself is approx. 1lb. Measures approx. 4" tall x 4" wide.The underside looks like cast molded lead or pewter and the top side looks like it could have copper in it. So basically I'm saying that I don't know what it's made of. This belonged to my great great great grandmother and was possibly brought to the USA from Germany. I've tried to look it up and cannot find anything like this one. If anyone has any information they can share with me, I'd appreciate it. In the meantime, feel free to make an offer. This lovely dresser jar has beautiful clarity in the glass and features a thick 12-panel body with 6 wide panels alternating with 6 narrow panels with etched flowers and foliage. The sterling silver lid has a large fancy engraved cartouche with monogram"HHS" in center and scalloped rim. There are so many great characteristics of this jar.it is a cut glass jar with almost a thumbprint design on the sides separated but pyramids made up of lines. Very nice detail, there is a cut star shape on the bottom, the cover is beautiful with a cobalt blue guilloche enamel which has a pattern of a sunburst and there are seven gold enamel fleur de lis on the cover as well, the enamel color continues on the inside but it is not the guilloche pattern. The cover is sterling and is marked on one side very lightly"Sterling-H(there is some sort of figure but I cannot read it) 259" I was not able to find out any information on this specific number. Measures: 70mm x 62mm. With top: 129mm tall. 65mm diameter at the top. 72mm at the base. Weight: 0.66lbs. There is some wear to the gold trim and a some very minor scratches. But overall in gorgeous condition. Up for your kind consideration is this wonderful piece of cut glass. I know of no completely objective way to describe the condition of cut glass. The phrase"mint" is often the word used by sellers and there are rarely any examples of cut glass that fall into this category. To avoid any form of disappointment. I offer a liberal returns policy. Examination is the only method of meeting your personal expectations and in that light, it reduces the need to pull out a microscope, which I cannot do. Glass collectors have individual opinions and criterion for acquiring glass for an individual collection. Almost all old glass shows ... moresigns of usage. Newman's book. An Illustrated Dictionary of Glass, does not include the word"mint" and neither can"mint" be found in any of the books in my reference library. In my opinion, the word"mint" should be a term that is never used by glass collectors. Expecting a mint piece in glassware that is true vintage isn't realistic. Therefore. The glass is clear with no chips or cracks that I can find, although it could use a cleaning. Trinket Dresser Antique Jar cut/pressed glass with metal lid Art Nouveau Style
Up for your consideration is a beautiful heavy crystal with metal lid powered/dresser jar. The jar has a lovely fan cut design with a thumbprint and V cut bottom edge and measures over 2 1/4" tall x about 3" in diameter. The top I am unclear on it is some type of metal/tin. The top measures about 3 1/4" in diameter and has some weight to it. The crystal jar is in excellent condition and the lid has some patina and a few scratches from use. It is a beautiful antique vanity powered jar.

An large(and very useful) sterling silver and cut glass hinged vessel by Whiting Manufacturing. NY, NY(1866-1926) This unusual form stands a grand 5 1/2" tall and about 3 1/2" wide. Make by American silver marker Whiting(later absorbed into Gorham in 1926) its form is quite English and the pattern on the silver is the highly collectible"King Edward" pattern introduced c.1901. I thought it was a large dresser jar, but I have been told that it may actually be a tea caddy. Period script monogram. Well hallmarked for identification on both sides of the silver rim near the hinge. Left side: Whiting Logo and Sterling. Right side: 4550 over 107. Pat. 1893, 925 over 1000 Fine. One being visible on the outer belly of the rim, while the other tracks the outside of the floral motif in one area(see photos) The glass has a number of losses at the bottom edge. The cut work in the main part of the body is in nice shape- nothing is jumping out at me, but given the material ad age, please expect that where will likely be a few nicks. Overall, not perfect, but presents beautifully. Antique ABP American Brilliant Cut Glass Vanity/Dresser Jar Box Hinged Lid
Here is a very pretty antique cut glass hinged lid vanity or dresser jar. The metal ring looks to be chrome plated. It has cut ribs with notches on the ridges and the lid has a large star design. The bottom is ground a polished flat with a cut star. It measures about 2 1/2" tall and 3" wide. It looks to be in very nice condition and I don't see any noticeable chips or cracks or damaging scratches. I did see a couple super super tiny fleabites when looking with a magnifier. BLACKINTON STERLING SILVER LIDDED CUT CRYSTAL JAM VANITY JAR RED GLASS ANTIQUE

Finely crafted hand cut crystal jar, with cut crystal stopper, and hinged sterling silver lid with a red glass cabochon set in the top. Clearly marked as Blackington, showing the B with the sword through it, and the line marking of 7956. I'm not exactly sure what this jar would have been used for, I'm not sure if it's a condiment jar, or possibly a vanity jar of some sort. Measures 3.25" tall. Beautiful condition, hasn't been polished at any recent time, nice aged oxidation, design is still nice and crisp, was never over polished, the hinge is nice and snug and the lid does not flop around, and it snaps closed into place very precisely ... moreand securely. The glass stopper is the original, fits snugly into place. The Crystal has a hand cut start design on the bottom, and an ornate pattern engraved across the entire outside surface. At one point the lid had a small shallow dent in a 1/4" spot, but it appears to have been cautiously pushed back out, and is for the most part unrecognizable aside from the black tarnish that had once gathered in the dent. The red glass cabochon is actually set into a sterling silver bezel, it is not just glued into place. Essentially perfect condition. Items guaranteed to be as described.
