Dad often would make a card on some of their more special items, the following is from his writeup: Loetz cracker jar. 5" diameter by 6 1/2" high to top of lid. Silver carrying bale has unique type hinge arm that lifts lid when bale is tipped back. Bale is mounted to rim. All silver plate. Jar is pastel blue/green with strong iridescence and dark-purple all-over threading. This an unusual piece with truly beautiful glass. The color. Although delicate, is much stronger than is shown in pictures, perhaps because of lighting. The contrast between threading and iridescent glass is more subdued. Condition: Very nice condition. Here is an elegant antique Victorian hand painted glass biscuit or cracker jar with a silver plated lid and fancy embossed silver plated handle. The piece measures 6-1/4" high. 8-1/4" high with the lid on, and 10-1/2" high with the handle up by 5-3/4" in diameter. The hand painted flowers are very well executed. The piece retains it's original silver plated lid, which is marked: VAN BERCH SILVER PLATE CO. QUADRUPLE PLATE ROCHESTER, N.Y. in a circle and bears the# 3105. The piece is in excellent used condition, no chips or cracks to the glass and no dings or dents to the metal. I have not polished this piece, so I am not sure about the condition of the silver plating itself. A lovely example of the Victorian era for your home or collection! Victorian Embossed Jar I am unsure what kind of jar this is. But it is a pretty piece. The jar has a pretty embossed rose and ribbon design, it still has some of the pink, gold and green paint. The rim and the lid of the jar has a little damage and repair, otherwise in good condition. The jar measures approx 6 1/4 inches to the top of the lid and 5 inches at it's widest point. Dusty pink, white, gray and light green. Raised yellow enamel accents. Front and back sides decorated. I did not try to polish silverplate collar and lid- appears there may be some spots of wear or discoloration. Marked under lid M W 4419. Finial and area around final decorated with tiny flowers. Stands 4 5/8" to top of collared rim. Measures approx. 6 1/2" across body. No chips or cracks found in glass. Lid is designed to fit down over collar. There is a depressed spot in center of lid. Decorated on both sides with hand painted enamel flowers. Flowers are white/yellow and purple. Raised yellow enamel detailing. Pretty design on collar. Handle is topped with figural angels or mermaids- I do not find any markings on silverplate or bottom of jar. This was purchased at local estate sale. When I got it home. I found two label tape strips inside- they say Peach Blow and $850.00. I do not know if this is considered Peach Blow, shaded or cased glass. I do not know maker- Bohemian, North American(New England Glass Co. English or other. Shiny finish. Stands 5 5/8" tall to top of collar rim. Just under 10" tall when handle raised. This auction is for a lovely Victorian"RUBINA" cranberry shaded to clear- DIAMOND" pattern glass BISCUIT or Cracker JAR with silver tone metal mounts. The maker and country of origin are unknown(to me) But I would guess this piece is most likely English. Measurements: 9.75" tall with the handle up. 8" to the tip of the finial, 6.25" to the top of the collar- 5.5" wide overall. Condition: EXCELLENT- previously owned/used- NO chips. Cracks or repairs- just a little bubble in the glass- light wear to the metal mounts. SPARKLES!

Antique English Uranium Glass Biscuit Cracker Jar Silverplate Lid Orange Flora Lovely 19th century antique opaque/uranium art glass biscuit or cracker jar. Glass color is a pale minty green in natural light. And has a bright green glow under black light. Decorated with orange blossoms. Brown leaves and gold trim. Silverplate collar and lid have English hallmarks used by Deykin& Sons. Birmingham. Business established in 1781 as gilt button makers. Production of electroplated ware introduced in 1854. Succeeded by Deykin& Harrison in 1895. Metal may have had a gold wash originally- the coloring is a faint gold with some vintage patina- dark silver/gray ring on lid around finial and dark silver/gray spotting near areas where handle attached to collar. I did not try to polish. Selling as found. Stands 5 3/4" tall to top of collar ... morerim. 8 1/2" when handle raised. Stands just under 6 7/8" tall to top of finial on lid when covered.
