Deco style jars with the original lids: 1 amber“Vitasol jar with a threaded metal lid and waxy lid liner– made by Owens Illinois. 1942· 1 large jar with a threaded. Black metal lid– made by Capstan Glass(1919-1938) 1 smaller jar with a threaded. Burgundy metal lid– made by Oil City Glass. 1936 or 1946 The Vitasol Amber Jar: height:8-3/4” Width at shoulder: 4-3/4, width at base: 3-1/2” This extremely rare, amber Vitasol jar is in superb condition. There are no other Vitasol jars available on ebay like this one! This jar has the Owens Illinois“I inside an O” over a diamond logo on the base. The“4” to the left of the logo indicates that it was made in the Clarksburg, ... moreWest Virginia plant. The“2. to the right of the logo indicates that the jar was made in 1942 since the plant closed in 1944 and Owens Illinois started using a period“ after the year digit starting in 1940. There are no chips. Cracks, scratches or hairlines in the glass. The edge of the opening is totally smooth to the touch all the way around the edge. The Vitasol jar has the original metal lid with the original waxy lid liner. The lid screws on and tightens well. An amazing find and unique on eBay. The Large Jar with the Black Lid: height: 8-7/8” Width at shoulder: 3-1/2” width at base: 3-5/8” This Deco-style jar was made by CAPSTAN GLASS COMPANY of Connellsville, PA between 1919 and 1938. The mark used by Capstan Glass resembles a“pawn” chess piece, but actually represents a CAPSTAN, the“spool-like” contraption installed on ships, docks, etc. to move, pull or lift heavy items, often seen with cables or ropes wound around it. The etching is only on the front of the jars. Picture number 3 is the backside of the jars. They are marked with a flower and 1000 o n the bottom to show the size of the jar. They are a little dusty or dirty inside. I have not tried cleaning. I bought these from an estate sale approximately 10+ years ago. So I do not know if they are original French jars or reproductions. I am anticipating a move soon so I am selling things that I haven't used in a while. The bottles have cork lids which are slightly stained. Set of 3 Vintage Floral Etched Glass Apothecary Barber Jars Bottles Cork Stopper
Very nice set of 3 apothecary or barber jars with cork stoppers. I believe they are from around 1920-1930 and were made in France. Each jar has an intricate floral design etched on the front and it continues onto the sides. They are complete with cork stoppers which are attached to a silver metal with a ring for easier removal from the jar. I do not see any cracks. Chips or breaks. There is the normal wear to the bottoms from use and they do need a thorough cleaning. The largest has some sort of residue in it. Please refer to the pictures for more details. I love this jar! The three faces top handle is great! It was made for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the 70's. It can be used for biscuits. Have nothing in your houses that you do not consider to be beautiful or useful. William Morris 3 Rare French Vintage Glass Jam/Preserve‘Bar Le Duc’ Jars– Glassware Three unusual flare- shaped. Wide brimmed fluted vintage jam jars made specifically to contain the red currant jam produced in the small town of Bar Le Duc in the Lorraine region. The jam is still handmade and the fruit’s small pits are removed by inserting a goose feather and carefully pulling them out. Known as the‘Caviar from Le Bar’ This jam has always been known as exceptionally good and luxurious, made in small quantities and presented in small jars measuring 3 inches high and 2 ½ in diameter. These jars date from the late 19 th/early 20 th century and contain small air bubbles and fine lines in the glass. Each one has 10 flutes around the side and a wide lipped. Thick ... morerim around which was tied the little cotton bonnet(called a Charlotte here) that served as a lid. In the 1920’s these jars were modified to receive a screw top lid. The three jars are in very good condition overall. One has a minor chip under the rim. Worn smooth through time. These old jars are rare and unusual to find and look very pretty lined up on a window shelf to grow cuttings or to add to a glassware collection.
