The jar was perhaps used to hold sweetmeats or other foods. The sides of the jar are decorated with a nice diamond-cut pattern and vertical cuts. The lid is in the form of a wide-brimmed hat with a pretty cut glass ball at the top. The jar has a polished pontil on the bottom. There is wear to the bottom of the jar. As can be expected of such antique cut glass. This piece was made between 1775 and the 1820s. The condition is excellent. The lid is in fabulous shape. The jar is in great shape as well. There are a few minor fleabites and flakes here and there to the jar. Especially to the teeth. None of them are very visible. The bottom of the jar has a ... morefew swirled air bubbles in it. Antique vanity powder or cream jar has been in the family for over a century. The lid is approximately half a pound in weight. The jar itself is approx. 1lb. Measures approx. 4" tall x 4" wide.The underside looks like cast molded lead or pewter and the top side looks like it could have copper in it. So basically I'm saying that I don't know what it's made of. This belonged to my great great great grandmother and was possibly brought to the USA from Germany. This lovely Cut Crystal Glass Biscuit Barrel/ Cracker Jar measures about 9.75" tall with the handle up and about 5.75" to the top of the crystal section. The crystal is in quite nice shape. But the collar, handle and lid are heavily patinated and the plaster under the collar is crumbling(it can be re-plastered) It is a good piece if you are into that shabby rough look.

Crystal Tobacco Humidor Biscuit/Cracker/Candy Jar Gold Metal Lid Hobnail Arches
We are offering a 5 3/4" to the top of the lid(5 1/4 to the top of the glass) heavy crystal glass jar with a gold colored metal lid. Both the jar and lid are in excellent pre-owned condition with no chips. Cracks, scratches, or staining to the glass and no dents or bends to the lid. We don't know what metal the lid is made of but a magnet does not stick. The jar has arches and every other arch has hexagonal hobnails. The glass is very clear and we do not see any lines, which would be expected in pressed glass. On the bottom side of the lid is a metal sponge or bread holder to control the moisture, which could be used for tobacco, cookies, crackers, and possibly candy. The glass and lid seem almost too ornate for a humidor but we are not certain what it was originally designed for. The glass base has a pressed-cut pattern and the lovely Sterling Silver top is decorated with an embossed design of Cupids in high relief. The glass jar is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. The sterling lid is also in excellent condition with no noted damage. Etched Crystal Marmalade Jam Jar Honey Pot, Sterling Silver Lid/Attached Spoon
This is a tiny jam jar or honey pot. It is an antique that has been in our family for years. The sterling silver lid has a tiny spoon attached to it. The glass jar has lovely etched flowers all around the piece. And it is in perfect condition, with no chips or cracks. The lid could use a good polishing but is also in perfect condition. Stands a mere 2" tall and the opening has a 1 1/2" diameter.

The lid alone weighs 3.5 oz. and is SOLID Sterling Silver. The Cut Crystal Jar has a diameter of 4 inches and stands 3 ½ inches tall.
