They retain most of there original old red paint. Nice fluted post with decorative round finial topped with a pineapple. They are in very good solid condition. They will free stand for display but they are quite top heavy. The would be great toppers for your iron fence or they would make a great pair of lamps by removing the pineapple finial and threading it. They measure approx. 22"long. Here's a set of very heavy cast iron finials that were made for those old Victorian fences back in the 1800s. They still have the remnants of the chippy paint on them. Each weighs almost 1 1/2 lbs. One of the bases is round with room for 4 screws. and 3 of them are half round with only 2 screw hole openings. The base is 3.5" in dia. I do not know if these are for a fence or a house or just decoration in a garden but the came from a local estate auction and they are neat. Always happy to check for the cheapest shipping. Set of 6 HEAVY CAST IRON Vtg/Antique ACORN FINIALS Fence Gate Post Tops Caps 5" Beautiful set of 6 of vintage/antique metal acorn finials. I am not sure of the age but they appear to be quite old. I believe that they are cast iron. They are thick and heavy. About 3 pounds each. The finials are painted black and stand approximately 5" tall. The bases measure 3" x 3 1/4" at the widest point with the interior dimensions being somewhat smaller. There are screw holes at either end of the shorter sides to secure the finials to the top of a post. It looks as if there are screw remnants in these holes and they would probably need to be drilled out if you plan on using them as intended. 3 of the bases have breaks(see pics) There is some wear and flaking to the black paint( you can see other paint colors in some areas) and also ... moresome rust here and there. They were removed from a fence, so the base may not be perfectly level, I add this in case you plan to use them for decorative purposes please let me know and I will send you ones that sit flat. They are a stylized fleur de lis design, very decorative and intricate. They are cast iron. The inside fence post area is 13/16" by 13/16" so they will fit on a post up to 3/4" They also make a great design element for display or to add to the end of curtain rods. Set of 6 Antique Cast Iron Architectural Fence Post Pineapple Finials. Chipping of several layers of paint and one has a crack in the body. Each Finial is approximately 11 oz. in weight. 6" tall, 2.5" wide and has a 3" diameter base. This finials appear to be from the late 1800's to early 1900's.
