Up for sale: Beautiful newel post. Measures 55 inches high and 9 inches at widest point. It is 6 inches at the narrowest point. The finial is 6 inches high. A lot of work went into building this one. Salvaged from large house built at the turn of century. Quite sound. Does have some wear from a century of use. P art of it looks to have been panted many deca des ago. One of the nicer newels we have found. Quite majestic. And quite heavy. Shipping quote is for Federal Express. We can also ship for about $49 through Greyhound if you have a terminal nearby. From our experience it takes about a week to get to your terminal. They call you and give you 2 or 3 days to come and pick up. They charge a small fee for storage after that. Large Wood Architectural Finials
Pair of old hand turned finials for stair posts. Railings or? These are made of either fir or pine and although similar each is different. They are about 12" high and 4" across. There is some checking and minor chipping(see photo) I bought a few of these in the 1980's from a Virginia lumber mill that was going out of business and I was told then that they had been in inventory for 20 years+. They are sound with some age checking and could be used for their original purpose or as decorative elements. The pair pictured is not necessarily the pair that you will receive.

Antique Architectural Cast Metal Gold Gilt Eagle/Finial 18.75" High 5.5" Sq.Base
This is a beautiful cast metal eagle. This is a finial/arhitectural piece that dates to the late 1800's/early 1900's. The piece stands approximately 18.75" high. The base of this is approximately 5.5" square. Finely detailed the wings and head have feathers that look real. The talons are wrapped around what looks like a rock. Each talon has multiple lines giving it life like qualities as well. The front of the eagle has a finely feather detailed chest with a well defined beak and eyes. Gold gilt paint makes this piece a beautiful architectural item. This could be used to accent an exterior column on a house or as a finial at the top of a staircase. Vintage Brass Bronze Eagle Flag Pole Finial Architectural Americana
Up for auction is a vintage brass or bronze eagle flag finial recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. It is found in good used condition. It is still on a pole which can be removed by unscrewing it from its base. Once unscrewed, there is a 1/4" screw underneath it. I believe the eagle to be brass or bronze, as it will not attract a magnet. It features natural patina, which shows itself as spotting on the sleeve. The wing span is approximately 3 1/2" wide. The eagle is also 3 1/2" tall. A very nice finial. Very nice for reuse or to be used as a finial again. After pulling on the wood for awhile, I finally got it loose. Antique Copper Architectural Flower Finial
A wonderfully detailed Architectural Finial with a floral design. The finial is made of copper with a fantastic patina and was used on the top of a building as decoration. Found in the Philadelphia. Pennsylvania area it dates from the mid to late 19th century. The finial stands 37" tall. One of the bottom pedals is partially missing and the stem has a crack in it. Antique HUGE Carved Old Paint 1/2 ROUND VICTORIAN Architectural FINIAL Pediment ANTIQUE ARCHITECTURAL FINIAL DECORATION Wonderful antique large solid wood Victorian 1/2 round finial decoration measuring approximately 11" wide and 6" tall. Featuring an orb shape made from building layers of carved wood into a round form. It bears the original old weathered gray paint. Once a complete pediment ball, probably mounted to a stand or base, it retains part of the original wooden peg threaded through the back opening which would have held the two pieces together. Condition is good with lots of paint wear. Rubbing and loss as shown- stable age related wood shrinkage cracks, and general shabbiness from age- love it! This attic fresh discovery features 9 mid to late 1800s hand turned solid walnut Victorian architectural finials. Most likely intended for window treatments or portiere rods. Each finial is slightly different(hand turned) and retains its original French polish surface with dirt and scratches with minor chips. There are 3 pair, each measuring 6-6 1/8” tall x 3 ½” maximum diameter with 2 ½ base diameter. A smaller companion finial measures 5” x 3” x 2” A fourth pair of dramatic pointed finials measures 5 3/8” x 3” x 2 3/8” base diameter. Several retain the original screw mounts; most are without. This auction is for another great example of the 19th century tin nockers art. This Cupola is made from soldered galvinized tin and sports a really nice flame finial on top. The dimensions are 15-1/4" square and 20-1/2" tall. It is in very good structural condition with a heavy layer of multiple coats of paint the paint has flaked off in many areas revealing the historic record of previous colors.and the galvanic zinc. This will make a great roof, garden or house ornament. It can be attached directly to a flat roof or a wood base can be simply made to saddle a gable pitched roof. There are some tiny holes(visable in photos) these are from incomplete solder joints when it was made and a few in the flame are from the metal being stretched and work hardened when it was made. they are not rust holes.

1896 Architectural Salvage ZINC Victorian Roof Top Finial turret Cap Corbal
Very interesting piece of Victorian architectural salvage. Circa 1896. I have a photograph that shows this piece as it once was, on the top corner of a building on a Main Street in Michigan. The piece was on top of the building in the corner. Originally there was two of these on the building. The brick building was once in Armada Michigan, on their main street. Years ago, about 40, the building caught on fire, and a friend of mine got this piece in the wreckage. The piece was not damaged by the fire. No signs of smoke or odor. My friend has had the piece in storage all this time. The piece would make a great wall hanging. It is a one of a kind piece, in all my years of buying salvage, this is my only roof piece. The piece is made of zinc and measures: 33 1/2" tall x 12" deep x 17" wide. Has a weight of: 11 pounds. Not the original ... morepaint. It also looks like some adornments on the face are missing.
