For sale an old cast iron Strieby& Foote combination fencing wrench. The Sept 13 1904 patented tool is in good used condition. Stamped with patent date on the handle and“Made by Strieby& Foote Newark NJ” on one side and“Tool Steel” on the other side. The tool measures 14 ½” long. This tool has been well used. It shows rust, indention marks from being used as a hammer. Missing the pin in the handle that guides it against the other handle. Shows lots of original wear. Thus far I have not found one photo or even one article about the actual construction of the BUILDING and I find that very unusual given it was a McKim. Mead and White design, it was a main power plant for a then very new mode of transportation, and the building itself had to have it's foundations dug to an unusual depth- 40 feet in order to isolate the heavy vibrating machinery from the office building itself. It had(4) 1.000 Horse Power steam engines and 18 boilers in the basement, the engines had a 32 foot diameter driving drum and was the largest steam powered plant of it's kind. Antique Primitive Painted Iron Architectural Window Grate Fencing Gardening
Up for auction is a vintage antique iron architectural window grate recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia PA area. It is found in good used condition. Window grates such as these were used in Philadelphia on Brownstone buildings so that windows at the street level window could be opened. But this grate being locked protected the home owner from uninvited intrusions. It has what appears to be original paint, which has many losses, with these unexposed ares showing considerable rust. There are losses and a break in one small section of this grate, best seen in photos#4-5 This piece is quite rusty and primitive. It does show a lot of character. Overall, this piece measures approximately 27" x 19" in size. There are some small nubs on the ends which adds another 1/4-1/2" These pieces are great for other application ... moresuch as garden fencing, headboards, wall art. 18 Antique Cast Iron Garden Edging Fence Pieces. I believe these are from the 40's or 50's. May be older, they are Victorian in style, they interlock with one another. They have wear consistent with age. But overall just need primed and painted. Very nice collection of pieces. Price is for one piece in case someone needs less than 18. They are roughly 12" tall. Some of which would stake into the ground, and close to 8" wide. They are very sturdy, each one weight about 1.75 lbs. Shipping will be added accordingly dependent upon how many you buy. WEAR& LOSSES TO PAINT& CAST IRON, IMPERFECTIONS There are 5 pieces in this set. 2 pieces are 11 X 4 1/2 inches with hinges on either side. These are the ones with silver painted tops 1 is 11 X 4 1/2 inches with gold at the top 1 is 6 1/2 X 4 1/2 inches long The last two pieces were part of the set when I purchased them over 20 years ago.
