Stair case rails, mantels and other decorative touches. Each pinecone piece stands 7” tall and is about 2 ½” wide at the middle. The end post on each finial is 1 ¼” long and 5/8” wide. Two of the posts on the pinecones have small nails stuck in them and the others have some minor chips in the wood– the nails can be removed and the chips are minor enough that the posts are still ready to use. The pinecones are made of some type of hard wood– they are not that ... moresoft pine. They are finished in a dark stain and are varnished or shellacked. There are some small dings in the wood and a few scuff marks. There are also natural signs of wear on areas of the pinecones from use. These are very cool and definitely unique. I'm not sure if they were originally bed post finials or perhaps fence post finials. Whatever they were originally used for I'm quite sure someone could use these to decorate something. They look to be in the form of perhaps a griffin or some other mythical creature. They have an oriental look to them. They are made of cast iron or some sort of other cast metal. Most the original gold paint still remains. None have broken places. The threaded opening measures just under 1 inch across. These are quite heavy weighing about 1 pound 4 ounces each. A great opportunity to get a truly unique set of finials.
