It is very solid and could definitely be used in a building project, but I've been using for a garden decoration. Heavy gauge copper, very solid, no corrosion holes but a few dings here and there, and is missing one of the fancy corner decorations. The actual top finial part is slightly cocked, it probably could be bent back, but that would be up to the new owner if they chose. Up for consideration are these 3 cast iron fence post tops. They are about 8 1/2" tall and fit a 2 x 2 1/4 post. The hole in the top is for an 1 3/4" top rail. Casting are marked 26 H.These are in good vintage condition with wear typical to age. There are no bends or breaks to the castings. They are heavy. 1896 Architectural Salvage ZINC Victorian Roof Top Finial turret Cap Corbal
Very interesting piece of Victorian architectural salvage. Circa 1896. I have a photograph that shows this piece as it once was, on the top corner of a building on a Main Street in Michigan. The piece was on top of the building in the corner. Originally there was two of these on the building. The brick building was once in Armada Michigan, on their main street. Years ago, about 40, the building caught on fire, and a friend of mine got this piece in the wreckage. The piece was not damaged by the fire. No signs of smoke or odor. My friend has had the piece in storage all this time. The piece would make a great wall hanging. It is a one of a kind piece, in all my years of buying salvage, this is my only roof piece. The piece is made of zinc and measures: 33 1/2" tall x 12" deep x 17" wide. Has a weight of: 11 pounds. Not the original ... morepaint. It also looks like some adornments on the face are missing. Vintage 1940's Cast Iron Chain Link Cyclone Fence Post Top Cap - 7 Caps
Up for auction is a set of 7 very unusual cast iron post caps for a chain link/ cyclone fence. These came from a house in Portland. OR that was built in 1947. My neighbor took down the original cyclone fence in order to build a wood fence, so I rescued these caps. They are very heavy and weigh 1/2 lb. each! They are made to fit a 1 7/8" post, and are marked 1 7/8 on the inside. They have a very unusual raised design on the top which I have never seen before. 6 of them have been spray painted silver, so you could either leave them painted or strip them back to the original gray finish.
