Up for auction is a pair of large vintage brass cannonball bedknobs bed knobs. See pic 3 to judge size against a regular sized clothespin. They are hollow 4 piece. Collar, shaft, lower ball and upper ball and measure approx. 6" tall and 3 1/2" across, 12 3/4" circumfrence and the bottom opening is approx. 2" They may look a bit wonky in a couple of these pics, but that was just because the interior bolt was hitting the table an throwing them off kilter a bit.you can finagle them to sit straight, I just didn't notice it when I was taking pix. Antique Pair 2 of Acorn or Pinecone Brass Bronze Newel Post Cap Finials Germany
This pair is 3 1/2" high. not counting the screw) 2 1/2" across center, 6 3/4" around middle of acorn or pinecone. Screw is 1 1/4" all the way into the cap, about 1" extends beyond edge of cap. Marked Germany on each. They weigh 9.5oz each. Solid brass or bronze, a magnet does not stick, but it does to the screw part. There is some rust on the underside as shown. These would have many uses, great on a newel post, or a broken pediment on a secretary or chest or bed, on the top of bed posts. The possibilities are endless. I don't really know what to call them, acorns, pinecones, pineapples, or artichokes. LOL just threw that last one in for laughs. Just drill a pilot hole and screw it in.
