Description Fabulous pair antique French style drapery or curtain tiebacks with porcelain flowers. Each is different- with different flowers in random design. Each tieback measures about 8" by 5" overall and the area for the curtains is about 3" deep. Truly an unusual and beautiful pair of tiebacks for any room setting. The leaves are gilded metal and so is the frame. These is some tarnishing on the metal. Flowers are in good condition-there may be some very tiny chips on one or two of the flowers- They are fragile but all leaves and flowers are intact-and will display beautifully when attached to wall. Pair of antique French bronze drapery / curtain tie backs signed
These french antique tie backs are georgous and antique. The pieces have the initials M.C on the back. As well as the numbers 1449(picture 4) You can use them as traditional tie backs, or to hold a swag over a window. Measurements are: 6 inches tall(15 cm de haut) 2 inches wide(5 cm de largeur) and they come out about 12 cm. Condition is very good for their age, with some minor spotting to the gold finish. These opulent bronze tie backs just came from France. They depict two intertwined serpents with eagle wings above them and a laurel to top it off. They date to the Napoleon III era. When opulent velvet drapes were all the rage, often covering not only windows but walls as well. The pieces have the initials JD on the back, as well as the numbers 840. You can use them as traditional tie backs, or to hold a swag over a window. Either way, they are extremely eye catching and handsome. Measurements are: 7” tall. 3 ¾” wide and they come out about 5” Condition is very good for their age, with some minor spotting to the gold finish and one small casting split on one side. ANTIQUE PAIR FRENCH ROCOCO GILT BRONZE ORMOLU CURTAIN DRAPERY TIEBACKS TIE BACKS
LA MAISON BONHEUR in the South of France a large and heavy pair of signed French cast gilt bronze ormolu drapery tiebacks. Each is topped with a scallop shell cartouche which is repeated on the ornate front medallion. The scallop shell is the symbol of Saint-Jacques. Dating to medieval times and associated with pilgrimages through France to Spain. It is found on many French decorative pieces. Textiles. Metalware and furniture. They are made of cast bronze with an applied gilding. Known as ormolu. It is no longer being made in the traditional way. Which goes back many centuries. It has been replaced with electroplating. Which does not give the richness or depth of historical ormolu. This pair has some loss of the ormolu. Please see the photos. This is normal for gilt pieces of this age. Each panel has substantial 3 ply pleats. A large bottom hem(6' 15 cm) and its original hanging hooks. The panels are wide and long: each is approx. 80' high(203 cm) 48' at the top with the pleats(122 cm) and 80' wide at the bottom(203 cm) The fabric is a superb damask with large stylized flowers and leaves on stripes.
