We are uncertain as to the material, but it appears to be thickly-metal-plated, and may be wood under the plating. It is about 3-1/2" diameter, 3-1/2" tall, plus the 2-7/8" bolt. There are three or four cracks at the base; we do not consider them serious issues. And consider them normal for the age and use of this item. The most serious crack can be seen in photos 2 and 5. Group of 11 Antique Brass Ball Finial Up for your consideration is this group of 11 assorted antique brass ball finials. first there are four ball finials with a nice muted patina. Measures 1 3/4" diameter and about 2 1/4" tall, hollow interiors but very solid brass, threaded base, small dents on all but three, one base is bent. Next are three similar ball finials with the same dimensions, the brass on each is scratched and they are slightly lighter. Next is a pair of hollow lighter brass finials with exposed screws, they look like planets, no dents, measures 1 1/2" in diameter and tall. Beautiful. 8" antique flame or torch architectural, fireplace or fence finial with a hollow 2 1/2" square base. I'm fairly certain that it is made of brass, which would lead one to believe it has to do with a fireplace. As you see it has a beautiful patina and where it is worn on the edges you can see the brass color coming through. This would make a beautiful, unique decorative piece. The weight is 3 1/2 lbs. To me it has an Art Deco style, though it may be much older as it came from a country estate and had been stored away in an old farmhouse for many years.
