It dates from the late 1800s and measures 9 1/4” tall x 8” square base and shows minor wear and dents. Originally used to make sand casts which were then filled with molten metal to form the metal parts needed for machines. This one has"TOP OF HOUSING. SAFTY(sic) VALVE, PORCELAIN DISC" etched on one side of the top, the other has the date May 30, 1918 and raised metal numbers"8 0 8" affixed. A nice collectible example of precision woodworking from the early 1900's. Measures: 9 1/2 D x 6 1/2"H Condition: rustic.
