Vintage(not reproduction) presumably wrought iron but possibly cast, finials. Look to be either lamp or rod finials but possibly even gate toppers. Measure about 2.5 inches from base to tip and about 5/8 inch at widest. Otherwise in our estimation they are in VG+ condition with normal wear as expected for age but please refer to our photos as we are not expert appraisers and consider our images as part of our description/condition. VERY LARGE RARE SALVAGED ANTIQUE SOLID BRASS FINIAL 4" - ALMOST 1.50 POUNDS !
This is very unusual and rare antique solid brass and very very heavy finial weighing almost 1.50 pounds. It measures almost 4 inches tall and 2 inches wide. The patina is rich and beautiful! We found this in one of MANY boxes of lighting and door knobs etc. in my fathers basement workshop. We live in the center city Philadelphia art museum area where our 3 story federal style homes were built in the 1870s. People were always throwing the original fixtures out in the 1950s and 1960s to MODERNIZE but my father always collected them. NOW they are putting back what the last generation tore out and threw away. I dont really know anything else about this finial. Thanks for looking at my fathers finial. Measures 1 3/4" diameter and about 2 1/4" tall, hollow interiors but very solid brass, threaded base, small dents on all but three, one base is bent. Next are three similar ball finials with the same dimensions, the brass on each is scratched and they are slightly lighter. Next is a pair of hollow lighter brass finials with exposed screws, they look like planets, no dents, measures 1 1/2" in diameter and tall. Large Antique Wood Furniture Finial. Pineapple Up for your consideration is this nice unusual antique wood furniture or architectural finial. Measuring about 6 1/4" tall. It is a rather pretty piece with a ball top to a bulbous center with carved leaf design coming off the bottom to the midsection, it has a peg dowel at the base, it has a flat section on the back at the center and at the base, I think the wood is walnut but cannot be certain. Nice piece with a primitive pineapple look.the peg has a diameter of about 3/8" the base is about 2" in diameter excluding the flat area, the flat area on the back is 2 1/2" tall and about 1 3/4" wide, the ball on the top is about 1 1/4" in diameter. Pair of antique gold-toned Brass Feather motif finials( in very good condition with moderate wear with minor scratches. Tarnish/patina and areas of minor metal wear. One is marked"M. 10, 4" the other"7, 8, 11" with no other identifying marks. Each measures 6" inches long by 3" inches wide and varies in thickness from 3/16" to 1/2" and have two(2) holes where they attached to whatever it was that they came from. To which I have no knowledge of. These came from a large brass lot acquired at auction and may have been part of a furniture item. I am unsure if these pieces go together but probably came from the same piece.There are four ball finials(hollow) Four shapely separators which consist of two pieces put together(hallow) and a group of 13 small brass balls. All the larger balls and separators have dents but there are no cracks and all the small balls have white paint on them. The large ball finials have threaded bases, nice patina, and measure 2 1/2" tall and the ball has a diameter of about 1 1/2" the opening at the base is about 1/4" the larger two piece separators are not threaded, openings at each ends, 1 3/4" tall when attached together, larger opening is 1 1/8" diameter, smaller opening at the top is 3/8" diameter, ... morethe smaller balls are solid but hollow, have a nice patina, opening only on one end which is threaded, they measure just under 3/4" tall and the opening is 1/4" diameter, could have been for finial or toppers or feet on small items, not sure. old ANTIQUE 4" BRASS FINIAL - THREADED VICTORIAN STYLE fancy clock etc
Offered without reserve is a fancy old brass finial that I suspect once adorned a clock. It stands approx. 4" tall and it is about 2 1/2" wide. It feels like a hollow piece and it is rather light in weight. It has fancy look, the bulbous section is encircled with a fancy ring or band. The center finial point terminated into a wood screw at the bottom so it would be easy to mount this to any wood surface. As you can see in the pictures the bulb section has some small denting. Each measures about 4" tall without the screw, each one has wings spread, head turned right, three are perched on a ball, on with a screw, one is missing legs and ball. After taking some pictures, it looks like two were soldered at the legs near the body possibly to reattach or make sure they were secured correctly which they are.
