Vintage Brass Bronze Eagle Flag Pole Finial Architectural Americana
Up for auction is a vintage brass or bronze eagle flag finial recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. It is found in good used condition. It is still on a pole which can be removed by unscrewing it from its base. Once unscrewed, there is a 1/4" screw underneath it. I believe the eagle to be brass or bronze, as it will not attract a magnet. It features natural patina, which shows itself as spotting on the sleeve. The wing span is approximately 3 1/2" wide. The eagle is also 3 1/2" tall. A very nice finial. Very nice for reuse or to be used as a finial again. After pulling on the wood for awhile, I finally got it loose. VERY LARGE RARE SALVAGED ANTIQUE SOLID BRASS FINIAL 4" - ALMOST 1.50 POUNDS !
This is very unusual and rare antique solid brass and very very heavy finial weighing almost 1.50 pounds. It measures almost 4 inches tall and 2 inches wide. The patina is rich and beautiful! We found this in one of MANY boxes of lighting and door knobs etc. in my fathers basement workshop. We live in the center city Philadelphia art museum area where our 3 story federal style homes were built in the 1870s. People were always throwing the original fixtures out in the 1950s and 1960s to MODERNIZE but my father always collected them. NOW they are putting back what the last generation tore out and threw away. I dont really know anything else about this finial. Thanks for looking at my fathers finial. Fine Quality Vintage or Antique Brass Eagle Flag Pole Topper or Finial
This is a high quality vintage solid brass eagle flag pole topper. The casting show great detail. As in for instance in the individual feathers. The piece is in excellent condition with no damage. It appears that it may have been polished some time ago because there appears to be a bit of polish residue in some crevices. But this was done a while ago because the brass has a patina of age. The base part has 3 threaded holes which were used to secure the topper to a pole. The piece measures about 8 1/2 inches tall and 8 inches wide at the wing tips.

Last pole standing on the last tuna cannery in San Diego was topped by this awesome orb 8" in diameter with a threaded copper stem. Which could hold an eagle, wings spread coming in for a perch, they are out there! Looks mighty fine the way it came off the flagpole especially with the great verdigris patina! It will add beaucoup class to any flagpole you might be using and will mount easily with the threaded stem. Some writing on the stem and fitting but I can't make it out. I am guessing mid-century for this. But cannot be sure. Size: wing tip to wing tip is 5-1/2" Finial height without base is 2-1/2" Base is maybe 5/8" wide and inserts 3/4" in. Condition: GOOD vintage. Some darkening to the original gold finish. A rusty scratch in the base which I believe to be from removing this from a rusty metal pole. Small cracks on the base of the wings from manufacture which do not affect the strength or look of this piece at all. The loop appears a little over-ground when it was dressed during manufacture. Great looking eagle in excellent condition. Has screwhole on bottom for mounting. Eagle strikes a great landing position pose. Very smooth and well made topper. Just over 6 1/2" tall. 3 1/2" from head to tail and 3" from wing to wing at the bow. It appears larger than it's dimensions to me. Probably because of the way it's posed. Really quite grand for it's size. Also stands on it's own like a good American. I will ship the quickest way I can for the price. Thanks for Looking!

Shiny Brass SWAN Newel Post Finial Tops or Bookends
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for bids: pair of shiny brass swans which I believe were designed as newel(staircase) post tops. The swans measure approximately 6.5 inches tall; the square bases measure 2.5 inches square. The center bottoms of the bases have a ¼ inch threaded hole as shown. The top is also a finial and can be removed to show a threaded rod. I suppose these swans could also be used as bookends. There is some discoloration on the metal on each piece; one is at the top curve of the wing; another is along the back edge of the wing as shown. Both are in very good pre-owned condition. Each swan weighs almost 2 pounds each but both will fit in a 2 pound regional box to save on shipping.
