Antique Soldered Tin Folk Art Cupola Architectural Roof Ornament Flame Finial
This auction is for another great example of the 19th century tin nockers art. This Cupola is made from soldered galvinized tin and sports a really nice flame finial on top. The dimensions are 15-1/4" square and 20-1/2" tall. It is in very good structural condition with a heavy layer of multiple coats of paint the paint has flaked off in many areas revealing the historic record of previous colors.and the galvanic zinc. This will make a great roof, garden or house ornament. It can be attached directly to a flat roof or a wood base can be simply made to saddle a gable pitched roof. There are some tiny holes(visable in photos) these are from incomplete solder joints when it was made and a few in the flame are from the metal being stretched and work hardened when it was made. they are not rust holes.

Antique Metal Tin Old Folk Art Barn Salvage Vintage Cupola for Weather Vane
Neat old metal or tin cupola removed from a barn here in south east Pa. The barn was built in the late 20's so I'm assuming that is when the cupola was made however exact age unknown. Neat folk art designs adorn the sides and top of the cupola. It's been shot at and hit as is evident from the bullet holes which add to the charm and soul of the piece. Has some bends too but nothing terrible nor is it anything that would hinder any installation. Best of all I will ship for FREE anywhere to the lower 48. Antique Architectural Federal Style Folk Art Hand Carved Eagle Pediments Finials
For your Federal Style Country Manse we have a Set of Two Antique Architectural Federal Style Folk Art Hand Carved Eagle Pair Pediment Finials from the late 1700's- early 1800's. These were recently mounted on iron stands for display. Using the original holes which go through from the top to the bottom in two places on each pair to host the iron rods that they are now fixed onto. Fairly substantial in size, each of these facing eagles actually measures 10" high x 13 1/2" wide x 1 1/4" deep(thick) and are ready for display on these stands that bring them up to 13" tall. Together they weigh 8 pounds 3.5 ounces including the iron stand. They show their age from alligatored varnish and a deepened patina to the wood. These look like they may have been painted over at one time. And have been dry scraped to remove the ... morepaint. They have cracks too, but not any that diminish their aesthetic value. The wood is a very dense, hard wood which appears to be either butternut or chestnut, neither of which is easy to come by any more. In 1870 there was a blight that wiped all the chestnut trees, with only a few coming back today, so since that time, chestnut has been very scarce. And with butternut wood, so many of those trees were logged off, and being such a slow growing tree, you don't see too many of them anymore unless on new plantations. Hand carved eagle figures are still considered the epitome of collectible American folk art pieces and are generally associated with the Federal style era in architectural design. Which is a period that ranges from 1780 to 1830, appearing most commonly on frames, furniture, building ornamentation, and as motifs throughout the making of textiles and American advertising ephemera. To continue, Federal-style architecture is the name for the classic architecture built in North America between c. 1780 and 1830. And particularly from 1785 to 1815. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE FOLK ART TERRA COTTA DUCK ROOF FINIAL MOUNTED ON RIDGE TILE
The item for bid is a Two-Piece Unmarked Original Antique Architectural Terra Cotta Roof Ridge Line Tile with a Very Realistic& Detailed Hollow Duck Finial that has a square peg on the belly that slips into a pocket on the rounded tile. I do not know the maker of this wonderful piece. But I do believe it dates to the Mid-1800's. The only marking on the piece is the number"39" inscribed into one corner of the tile. The duck has several manufacturing holes. Including two nickel-size holes, one under the tail and one in the middle of the back, along with two small holes in the head, and three small holes in the belly, that allowed heat to escape during the kiln firing process, and to allow rain water to pass thru and drain when mounted on a roof. The mounting pocket also has two manufacturing holes to allow water to drain from ... moreit. The border of the tile has a molded pie-crust decoration around all but one end. Which is smooth, to allow it to fit under the next tile creating a water-tight closure. The duck's web feet and legs. Which are molded into the exterior terra cotta surface of the mounting pocket, are trimmed with random chips of white stone embedded into the terra cotta, as are the eyes. I purchased this several years ago at a local estate auction where it was advertised as having been found in the New England area of the USA. I took it to the Antiques Roadshow in Chattanooga. Tenn. a few years ago and it was appraised at $800- $1,200 at that time. THIS IS A VERY ICONIC PIECE OF FOLK ART THAT WOULD BE THE FOCAL POINT OF ANY PRIMITIVE COLLECTION! The piece has excellent detail with the only defects being as stated above in the Condition Description Field. Wood carving goose farm fence post banister finial folk art mother primitive
This is a wood carving of a mother goose that I'm told is one of a unique pair of old fence post finials. It's owners have repainted it at least a couple of times. But it still has a primitive/farm feel. It's spent most of it's life outside so it's nicely weathered. It's a very cool carving.

Antique flag pole ball top, copper and gold gilded, folk art ???
This is an interesting piece I've had stored away for years. The ball is made of copper and has what looks like early 20th c or late 19th c gold paint. It measures about 4" in diameter. The rod is 8" lg and has good oxidation.no threads. My guess is this sat on top of a flag pole or something else requiring a finial. It would make a great topper for certain types of weathervanes.
