The Eastlake furniture style as envisioned by its namesake, Charles Lock Eastlake, came about in response to his dislike of the over-the-top Rococo and Renaissance Revival styles popular during the Victorian era. Although Eastlake furniture is technically considered Victorian, being popular from 1870-1890, it breaks away from the excessive high relief carving, classical elements and numerous curves of other styles produced during this timeframe. In contrast with other Victorian styles of furniture produced in America featuring classical motifs, Eastlake furniture is more geometric and incorporates modest curves. It sometimes includes mild Renaissance and medieval influences that do not overwhelm the design. A very fine antique. Circa 1860's, solid walnut dresser with gray veined white marble top. Above is the separate mirror in frame, and yoke having a pair of candle stands and glove boxes. The mirror crest is beautifully carved with roses, the dresser drawers with nice carved grips. Dresser retains the three locks with walnut escutcheons, no key. Secondary wood is maple. Mirror frame will swivel. It has been nicely refinished. Total furniture measures 7'2" 86" tall by 3'5" 41" wide by 18-1/2" deep. I believe this probably dates to the Civil War era. It is about 21 inches tall. 23 inches across and 9 1/4 inch deep. The mirror is a replacement and there is a lovely piece of matching wood grained wood to the back of the mirror. There is one drawer. Antique 1800s Dresser 19th Century Chest of Drawers Walnut Wood FREE SHIPPING
19th Century Chest of Drawers This is a fantastic piece of historical furniture. This is a chest of drawers or dresser from the early to mid 1800's. It appears to be constructed primarily of walnut wood. There are several distinguishing features that influence our opinion as to the date of this piece: The dresser was constructed with square-head nails. Which were used from the late 1700's to the late 1800's. It is constructed of solid-wood boards measuring up to 16" in width. Which could only have been made from very large trees long ago. The dovetails used to construct the front and back of the drawers are all hand-cut. The smallest drawer has 3 tails and 4 pins. And the larger drawers have up to 5 tails and 6 pins. The drawer bottoms are chamfered, meaning the front and side edges and the drawer bottoms are finished at ... morea slop. While the inside top of the drawer is flat. This was cut and finished by hand-held tools, which is an indication that it is pre-1840. All of the saw cuts in the wood appear to be parallel rather than circular. This indicates the use of mill saws during construction. The wood also appears to be hand-planed. The dresser features turned-wood pulls. Which we believe to be original. It also has paneled sides, which was a feature in many early Philidelphia chests of drawers. This piece is in good. Antique condition overall with some general signs of age and use. There is a significant crack in the drawer second from the top. It is still structurally sound. All of the drawers have locks, but we do not have the matching key. This piece has cracks, wear, chips, discoloration and repairs that are consistant with a piece of this age. The"flaws" only contribute to the primateive nature of this chest of drawers. They quietly tell the stories of its life. The dresser measures 45 7/8" tall by 42 5/8" wide by 20" deep. The drawer faces are all 36" wide. The height of the drawer faces from top to bottom are: 1st- 9 3/4" 2nd- 5 3/4" 3rd- 6 3/4"

Antique Cherry 4-drawer Dresser with Integrated Locking Vanity - a Keeper!
Coming from estate of a serious antiques collector is this beautiful dresser with integral. Locking vanity set on top, complete with key that works. The wood type is cherry, we think, and solid(hidden parts may be other type, not sure but see photos) Overall it measures 42" wide x 43" high x 20-1/2" deep(vanity part is 4-1/2" high x 36" wide x 10-1/2" deep) The only issues are it shows years of faithful use and some wear. Top of vanity's right end a bit loose. But the finish still shines. Missing one of the drawer pulls and top of dresser has a split between the seam of wood. Right side of dresser has same type of split between two boards. Dresser exhibits old scratches and mars associated with antique furniture. Finish on the dressers top also has some issues with staining. Wear and discoloration. Not sure of age. I am guessing 1800s to early 1900s. You may know better than I. Knobs have a mother of pearl design except for one knob which is different than all the others. We have gone over this piece extensively, and so have many other professionals in the appraisal business, and they are confident it is an original built sometime between 1790- 1840 most likely in Connecticut. Local appraised value of this piece is $15K-$25K. It is a very ornate, all hand carved, which is uncommon for these types of highboys. It is dated to 1641 and it is carved into one of the drawer faces as well as on the back. It was assembled using square nails. Two of the smaller drawers have dog faces for handles. Due to its age there is some wear and small cracks. It is still sturdy with strong legs. Please examine all photographs. They are part of the description. Circa 1870 Mahogany Bow front Sturdy See description for full condition report, This stunning handcrafted piece was made in England in 1870. The warm patina of the mahogany has a satin luster that would mesh well with most decorating styles. The outward bow of the facade brings an element of brightening elegance to any setting. The two-on-three style drawers provide a great deal of storage. All of the drawers come equipped with all-brass hardware and lock escutcheons. However there is no key. The edges of the drawers are ... moredecorated with a fine bead molding. Just under the top molding is a handsomely inlaid double end spear design done from satinwood string inlay. The piece sits on a pair of very sturdy shaped bracket feet. The dresser is around 145 years old and in good condition overall. The drawers open easily and shut tight. The brass pulls are fastened securely to the drawers although they are not original to this antique dresser. There is a small chip in one as pictured. The mold around the top has been repaired on all sides. There is also a strong repair on the front right foot. You will find some separation marks in the darker spots on both sides and along the front moulding. There are signs of character building wear on the entire piece and the top has a number of light marks and stains. The pictures are a great representation of the condition. None of these items listed above have any sort of effect on the structural integrity of the piece as it is very sturdy. Wonderful antique dressers like this are hard to find.
