A most unusual antique. Circa 1840's, Empire period flame mahogany veneered and solid mahogany man's petite dresser. Lifting up and back of the top exposes a gray veined white marble surround, the underside of lid with the original very wavy mirror. The case holds four drawers with butterflied flame mahogany veneer fronts, the drawer interiors in oak. The case is on casters. The dresser measures 37-1/2" tall by 28" wide by 16" deep. Very good plus condition: damage is a horizontal crack to board and veneer across the top board of the lid. Both veneered sides have vertical shrinkage cracks. Includes all the locks and the key. The marble slabs are without chips, or stains. The right side marble piece has been broken in two and cemented back. The mirror is fine. The original finish has aged to almost an ebony color.

It is in great structual condition. All 3 drawers work well. It has no missing parts breaks or cracks. All drawers have there wood bottoms. It is very clean. It appears to have been refinished many years ago. The drawers are thick veneer over a solid secondary wood. The bottom drawer does have some cracking in the veneer but has been sealed when it was refinished. Also the bottom drawer has a small veneer chip and 2 places were the veneer has been patched with walnut veneer patches which just adds character to the chest. The chest has one full width drawer at the top. Two half-width drawers on the left are paired with a large compartment on the right, possibly originally intended for a chamber pot. The drawer pulls appear to be replacements, although the pull for the compartment, plus lock and escutcheon appear to be original. The Chest of Drawers measures 30 inches high. 40-3/4 inches wide, and 20 inches deep. There is a piece of thick glass that has been added, covering the top of the Chest. Offered for sale is this 19th century dresser top mirror frame- sorry no mirror. Based on the wood patina and the square nails or cut nails using. I would guess this is a 19th piece. The frame's 4 ornate carved corners look like to make of Gesso or other stuff. The frame looks like nothing missing except mirror. The wood didn't change the shapes for over 100 years, but it do need some restoration for the loosing joints, just a few nails/screws and some glue will do. And the previous owner seems to try to repaint it but he hasn't finish the job, It probably needs some time to clean the old finish and repaint it. The wood is good but I don't know what kind of wood. Where I bought this frame and I also bought an 3 old wood carving pieces. I have no idea that they go with the frame or don't belong to the frame. Antique Solid Mahogany Empire Dresser & Mirror
U p for auction is this magnificent Empire Style Solid Mahogany Man’s Chiffonier from around the 1830’s. The dresser was re-finished many years ago but the mirror was never re-finished. The drawers are dove-tailed and very thick. This does not have veneer. It is solid beautiful wood. It stands about 72’ tall and approx. 40” wide and is on the original castors. It does have imperfections, there is a scratch in the front, some small nicks, and the spots are from my camera lens. This is for local pick-up only, you may email if you would like to view it. Here is a marvelous antique mahogany twist column chest of drawers or large dresser with gorgeous flame mahogany veneers. Carved wooden knobs with mother of pearl inlay, lovely turned columns and legs, solid wood construction and overall wonderful condition for a mid-late 19th century piece. This chest was recently imported from the UK through Edinburgh, Scotland and was manufactured in either Victorian England or Scotland. This is a large piece which stands 58 inches tall and measures 40 inches wide by 23 inches deep. Front to back. This piece was designed to break down for safe transport and will travel in four pieces- the two twist columns, the footed base which stands 13 inches tall and measures 40 inches wide and 23 inches front to back. The chest section measures 45 inches tall by 40 inches wide and also 23 inches deep, front to back. ... moreThe top drawer has a recessed handle, only opens if the large drawer below is opened and measures 39 inches wide by 14 inches front to back and 3 1/2 inches deep. The large drawer below is divided in three sections, each 12 3/4 inch wide by 16 inches front to back by 9 1/4 inch deep with the central section having a sliding lid and the drawer overall measuring 39 inches wide. The bottom three drawers are all also 39 inches wide by 16 inches front to back and measure 6 inches, 7 inches and 8 inches deep in descending order, respectively.
