Antique Olivewood / Leather Music Stand By Brandt Furniture, Rare
Offered for sale is an antique Olivewood/ Leather Music Stand manufactured by Brandt Furniture Co. of Hagerstown. Maryland. This vintage stand was used for many years in my home recording studio here in the Boston area. Frankly not so much as a music stand, but as a wonderful decorative"prop" to display some vintage music sheets that I often kept on it just for fun. The stand is in good antique condition. It is stamped and labeled on the face of its base with the manufacturer's label. The surface shows light scratches and blemishes to be expected of an item of its age. The plate of the stand is covered with real leather painted with gold paint or gold leaf, all-original from the manufacturer. While both the angular and height adjustments of the stand work perfectly well, it appears that the back brace holding the plate of the ... morestand used to have"2 halves" rather than the single brace presently on it(see the 6th photo) but that's the way I've always had it and used it, and it does not affect its functionality at all. Antique furniture UMBRELLA STAND Unusual - Beautifully made - Inlaid Wood
This unusual piece of furniture is 8 3/4" square and 13" high. It looks like more than one kind of wood was used to construct it. The front has an inlaid design that gives it a very colonial look. The outer area around the inlay work shows some shellac/varnish loss. The rest of the wood looks great. The inside is lined with metal- maybe tin. The metal shows some rust issues.There is a small hole in the bottom(see pic) The piece itself is very solid all the way. I gave it a cursory dusting but I notice the pics show dust in the lower corners- and legs- it is just light dust you see and will easily blow right off) I am calling it an umbrella stand but it may have been made for some other use. Vintage Antique Umbrella Wood Stand Hall Tree 40" x 20" Handmade Furniture
Very unique umbrella stand/ hat rack. Purchased from an estate sale- the only thing I know is the estate belonged to a WWII War Bride from France. Most of her furniture was from France and Germany. This particular piece does not have a makers mark. But it is obviously very old. It does have wear, a couple of small cracks and is slightly loose. The bottom is iron and the removable tray is also handmade. I tried to show this in one of the pictures- you can see where the bottom edges have been folded over when it was made.
