The three dimensional figures of a man and a woman suggest that this richly detailed foyer or hall bench was part of a wedding dowry. The seat has been revarnished for durability. The rest of the finish is original with just enough wear and mars for antique patina. Waxed and buffed, only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its luster. There are small shrinkage separations from age. Under the lift lid seat is storage. Three dimensional carving shows masterful artistry on his historic furniture from a European palazzo. Beautiful olive fruitwood, hand carved in Italy, 9.25" base, 7.5" flat top, 9" in diameter and 38" tall, a matching 20" tall sold for $99.99 on eBay auction 141451309000. In great condition, very sturdy, some natural worm holes, knot, splits in the wood and staining on the top, see photos.
