We are offering an antique Bible/Dictionary Stand. It is vintage oak and iron. Bottom of the iron is stamped with a patent date of 1895. It is in a nice condition and is all original-the oak has the original finish and the iron has the original black paint. The stand is on rollers and it is sturdy. We have used it to hold two Bibles-one on each side. You can also use it to cradle an open Bible. We purchased this years ago from the estate of a woman who had lived in the old section of Portsmouth.VA and I am assuming it was most likely in that family for years. Antique 17th C. French Country Book Bible Stand Lectern Original Paint
I am relisting this item because I have come to believe it is older than I first thought; I think it is from the 17th rather than the 18th century. Hand planed and carved wood. Wood peg construction, and fabulous old paint distinguish this French flea market find. The decoration features the Jesuit symbol, with IHS, three thorns below and typical Jesuit cross above the initials. IHS stands for the Holy Name of Jesus; the letters are a Latinization of the first three letter of Jesus' name in Greek. The laurel wreath became associated with Napoleon in the early 19th century. But was used throughout history as a symbol of victory in battle. Usually the Jesuit symbols are surrounded by a circle of sun rays. There may be a special meaning in the unusual combination of symbols here, or it may simply have been the artisan's choice. The figures ... morein the four quadrants may indicate the year 1697, although the"1" and the"6" followed as they are by initials, may be letters. I would love to discover the meaning of all of these symbols. But even without interpretation, the painted decoration on this piece is simply beautiful. The colors are rich and fairly give off light under the warm waxy patina of centuries of use. Photos cannot do this beautiful object justice. It would be a fine Bible or book stand. And would be wonderful as a cookbook stand in the kitchen. Lectern is 15" wide. 9" tall. Original paint on all surfaces, with some wear but very little loss. It's in great condition with no damage or problems of any type. The book holder is made of solid oak. The base and upper mechanism is cast iron and the rod is steel tubing. Antique Industrial Iron and Mahogany Dictionary Bible Book Stand 1900s
19th century book stand by L.W. NOYES. CHICAGO embossed in the cast iron book rack of this stand. see pic) Adjustable angles. Measures 42in tall x 19in wide. A retrofitted spring has been implemented on the left leaf to hold the rack open. It does not spring shut however but manually folds closed. Works fine to hold books in place and is fully functional for large map books and dictionaries. Light scuffs in the mahogny of the panel leafs but these can be waxed/polished away. This stand does not come apart so it is all one piece as a piece of furniture. Local pick up only but will consider fedex drop off shipping where they pack it and you pay the Fedex/Kinkos attendant by credit card on the phone. I have done this before framed posters. Stereo equipment and odd items for ebay. Expect to pay around $ 100. or more for this type of shipping.

Bible stand or to hold your Wedding Guest Book. It would make a Wonderful Accent piece for your home as well. Has a Metal Hibiscus Flower in the Center and Leaves all around. The stand itself is an off-white color and the flower and leaves are beautiful colors of Pinks and Light Greens. Most metal Tole ware is made in Italy-but I cannot be sure that is was. It is adjustable and measures aprox 37" 49" tall and is 15" wide. It adjusts about half way on the post and does come apart-it has a wing nut that holds it in place once you set it to the height you choose. Best Gilded Library Book Bible Music Stand Cast Iron Oak Victorian Pat. 1895
Although I have only come across a few of these stands over the years. This one is BY FAR the best one I have owned. As it is presently configured. This book/music stands measures 44 inches tall and is a 16 x 16 inches at the foot. The finish is the original gilded finish. Which has a warm rich patina and is mostly complete. Of course there are areas that have worn more than others over the years, just a testament to a previously used and loved item. I believe the two quarter-sawn oak tablets at the top have been refinished at some point in the past and each presents very well. One could say striking in appearance. The legs have an ornate incised design running down each leg. And each leg does have the original metal caster at the bottom. Very easy to roll on a hard surface. In the center is a cast iron“basket” Complete and free from any ... morebreaks or repairs, retains most of the original finish and is a nice decorative element that also doubles as a storage area for addition books or sheet music. The center pole can be adjusted for height. And the angle of the wood tablets can also be adjusted. The mechanism underneath has a patent date of 1895, and is complete, free of any repairs and retains original authentic patina. One will notice a partial label underneath one of the oak tablets. Victorian Adjustable Book Or Bible Stand Cast Iron And Wood
Up for auction is a beautiful Victorian cast iron and wood bookstand. All the parts are here. Many I've seen have casters or at least the legs taper into what look like a part that would go into a caster. These legs do not have that feature. The right side wooden leaf has a crack running the length of it. This was my aunt's and she always loved to display her gigantic old dictionary. She passed away a few years ago and I'm finally down to parting with it. I can't provide a maker on this or an actual date of production. I've merely compared it to some I've seen here on eBay. That said. The item will be sold"as is" and I am unable to offer a return policy. If you would like*any* info more than is apparent with the pictures please message me. I'd be happy to help in any way I can. In it's"normal" ... moreposition it measures approx 40" high. The gasket that goes over the top of the legs to hold it together does work though it needs a little coaxing to fit over the gathered parts. Both wooden sides move back and forth as well as closing and locking in place. Not sure if the screws on the side that has the crack are original. The ones on the other side do look original. I do not believe the wood has been refinished. Age-appropriate wear throughout on both the wood and the metal. I have excellent feedback and have been providing buyers with quality antiques. It is a 2 sided stand holds 1 book or sheet music on each side. This all original book stand has the two oak halves that support the book and then and cast iron stand base. Notice on the base signed in raised letters in the stand it reads. Geo J Flanagan- Chicago Ill. There is also still an original paper label on one of the oak halves. The paper label has information concerning how to operate the stand as well as how to order parts if repairs are needed from the Giffen& Giffen Company in Chicago. It is in great"used" condition with the original finish and(3/4) castors. This item is in great working order. Only minor wear is one of the 4 wooden wheels ... moreis missing though the stand works fine resting on the leg. The height is adjustable from approximately 22 to 36 inches to the center of a upright book, book angle is adjustable, and book width is adjustable from 4 to 6 inches. Oak Antique Carved Bible Box/ Stand Circa 1875 This lovely piece measures 36"h x 21"w x 16"d approximately. It weighs in at about 35lbs. Beautifully carved oak. Barley twist legs, there are two drawers and 3 cubbyholes on the interior and a secret drawer to the right side- exterior. There are no keys. 1 of the brass hinges to the lid feels slightly loose. There is some wear and fading to the finish in some areas. There is a knothole in the bottom of the secret drawer with a notation on paper tape that reads- 25 Nov. 1909 to close up knot hole underneath" This is probably Scottish or English circa 1875, the date of 1669 and initials TP carved to front are also probably commemorative. Stunning Antique Cast Iron Music Book Bible Drafting Stand Holder Base
This is a stunning stand. I believe it is a sheet music or book stand. But not positive. I have not been able to find any other stands exactly like this one. It does appear to be adjustable and it does come apart. I have not seen any other stand constructed this way. It is sturdy as long as the metal band that wraps around the legs is pushed securely down around the legs. There is nothing but gravity holding this band down so it will wiggle lose if not tightly pushed down. There is some rust. The base comes apart by loosening the ring that holds the three legs together. It is adjustable, slides in and out to fit the size of the book. It tilts back and forth for angle adjustment. This is a very nice antique book or bible stand made by the LW Noyes Co. of Chicago. It has a cast iron base with wood casters and two oak panels or book rests at the top. The panels measure aprox. 7 1/2" wide x 13" high each and the width at the top is 20" I believe the height is adjustable as is the top. The oak panels have been refinished as you can see. Overall it is in good condition. We will remove the top and panels for shipping purposes. It is available for pickup or can be delivered by Fed Ex ground for 16.80 to the lower 48 states.

The picture depicting Christ carrying the cross came from an antique 19th century Bible and was later put on using decoupage. This is a beautiful. Unique piece. A miniature wood(looks like oak) pulpit with miniature Bible. I'm not sure how old the pieces are but would guess early to mid 1900's. For your bidding consideration in this auction is an Antique. Cast Iron& Wood Music/ Bible/ Book Stand. This is a recent Estate Acquisition in overall fabulous condition. The stand is a beautiful Victorian style and made by L.W. Noyes Aermotor Co. Mr. Noyes founded the Aermotor Company in Chicago in 1888 so my estimate is that this piece, with beautiful arched legs. Wooden caster wheels and Heart of Pine wood(very rarely used today as this was only found in virgin timber) was made circa 1890. The Stand has adjusting areas for angle of the book table as well as allowing it to swivel 360 degrees. The table top/ work surface can rest perfectly flat or adjusted to almost a 90 degree angle. The arched Legs drop down to the wooden caster wheels which are 16" apart. The wood book table is basically 2 parts- each is kept in place by a cast ... moreiron locking handle. When the handle is released, the 2 parts, due to the heavy spring action, fold easily up and together for storage. The top section is removable from the stand for shipping. Shipping estimate is 12 pounds and the required box size is 18"x18" x 36" One of the legs has been given a metal brace to support a crack in the leg which works perfectly. Oak Wood Library Bookshelf, Dictionary, Bible Book Stand/Rest Wall-mounted
DESCRIPTION: LOWER STARTING PRICE! This is a NO RESERVE sale for a really nice oak. Wall-mounted, book shelf. This is the kind of shelf you might see in a library, holding open a book such as a dictionary, phone book or even a bible. When it is mounted on the wall, the shelf tilts downward about 30 degrees. The shelf measures approximately 30 inches across, 12 3/4 inches wide(or, top to bottom of the actual"shelf part" and it sticks out from the wall when mounted by approximately 12 inches. The wooden bracket portion of the shelf(the part that actually touches the wall) measures approximately 7 1/2 inches. In the middle of the top of the shelf, there is a metal bracket which holds the book in place. I believe that this is tarnished brass. I has a nice patina to it, so I didn't touch it. I think that the bracket had a metal rod ... moreof some sort at one time that ran across the top of the book, to hold it open to a certain page. If that's what was there, it is no longer. I think you could easily construct one from a small metal rod or perhaps even a metal coat hanger. You could even run some decorative wire or ribbon. I have placed a smaller phonebook on the shelf in one photo to give an idea of what it would look like(phone book NOT included in sale.although. If you REALLY want it, I suppose you could have it! The bracket portion has two screw holes on each side through which you can mount it to the wall. It also has a small metal"L" bracket in the middle that would allow an additional screw at that location. This shelf is solid oak and is very strong. So if you used heavy duty screws, it could hold a pretty heavy book. I was going to mount the shelf in my library and place a large dictionary on it, but I ended up getting a floor stand instead. I had a hard time finding another example of this type of shelf, so I think this is a good opportunity to get an unusual and rather difficult to find item.
