ANTIQUE CHINESE JAPANESE GEISHA WARRIOR HALL TREE COAT RACK STAND GESSO OVERLAY
We are pleased to offer this antique to older vintage. Art Deco era, hall tree or coat/hat stand. This beautiful stand features turned wood body and base. Wrought iron acanthus/lotus vines provide the upper hanging section. There are 4 upturned, wrought iron arms, each with two areas/hooks for use. There is also a center wrought iron finial which could hold a hat or scarf. The wood is painted black(not lacquered) with a textured, slightly rough feel. The body is accented with a thick, paint/gesso overlay. This is used to form two figures on the stand as well as the design on the base. The upper body of the stand features a beautiful and detailed Geisha. Her garments and features are intricately detailed and wrap around the wooden column in a panoramic fashion. There is a lovely and subtle painted pattern on her robe. On the other side of ... morethe upper column is a large lotus flower. The lower column features a warrior or man of importance. He is also nicely and finely detailed and is standing on somewhat textured ground. On the opposite side of the man is a large, painted gold scroll design. The circular base is adorned with gesso painted characters/symbols as well as water/earth designs. Rounded flat head screws hold the wrought iron section to the body. The body is dowelled on the bottom and fits tightly into the base. Four small nails have been hammered upward to give extra hold to the base and column fitting. This is a unique and gorgeous hall tree. It is in very good antique condition. The black painted finish has only a few slight scuffs and nothing distracting. There is some cracking in the old gesso which is very common for this medium. There is a small section of the Geisha's face that is missing as well a small section on the base. These are not very noticeable and are not glaring. They do nothing to subtract from this subtly ornate old piece. It is quite lovely. The stand measures 61" tall. It is 14" in diameter at the top. more pictures below description* EXPANDING COAT RACK/ HALL TREE This was bought at an estate auction of the owner of a funeral home. The owner also collected Odd Fellow Lodge items. It appears to be very old but I'm not sure when it was made and there are no makers marks or labels. I have only found one hall tree anywhere like this on the internet. It was made by Clipper Shaft Co but it is different than this one, especially the inside parts. This has dark stained wood. But not sure exactly what wood. Cast Brass hooks and metal workings inside. Wear and patina on the wood surfaces including some white spots on the base feet. It's not in bad shape but would be more beautiful refurbished. It is missing a finial on the top. Fully functional, sturdy, beautiful period piece. Pole width: 3" Depth: 2 5/8" height: 71.5" Extends ... moreto a 36" across hanging bar for coats. Stands alone looking like a traditional coat tree. You have two hooks that you undo and press down on the piece of flat metal holding the bases together. Leans a little, so maybe the spring metal piece had more to it than what's there now-but it works. Now you have a coat rack for all your guests! Large, antique, early 1900s, bentwood hall tree that stands approximately 81" tall- 6ft, 9" Not sure what the wood is. But it's dark. I could not find a maker's name. But appears to be a THONET piece of furniture. It's put together with large screws that you can see on the outside. And what appear to be wooden plugs on the inside of the curved legs. I'm pretty sure the top finial has been replaced at some time. As it is not attached and just sits in the hole. It is a very good match to the rest of the piece. The very bottom finial has what looks to be a stress crack. And two of the legs are coming away from the center post. These two legs are across from each other and must be one piece of ... morewood- move one and the other one moves too. Not sure why they have seperated as the screws are tight. One of the small balls around the top has been replaced as it is perfectly round. Where they other ones have a flat bottom, and it also looks black. It's screwed in and could be replaced if wanted. Estate find. Nice antique dual post wooden coat tree/coat rack. Stands 79" high and is 13 5/8" wide. Two of the hooks look original. Another is original but broke and the 4th should just go. Very nice patina on wood but the former owner thought they were handy and did a poor job trying to steady the bottom of one of the posts. The rack is still steady. Turn Of The Century Mission Style Oak/Chestnut Wood? Coat Rack(SEE ALL 12-PHOTOS) Nice overall condition with no structural issues. A nicely age appearance with no cracks. Chips or gouges. NOTE: One of the steel hooks looks to have been replaced at some point in the past(SEE PHOTOS#7 and#8) The hook is exactly the same as the other three. But the"ware/patina" is not at the point of the other hooks. Other than that, there's just your typical 100 years of"general ware" I can not tell for certain what wood is used. I believe it's either oak or chestnut. Measures 70" tall overall. The post is 2-1/2" x 2-1/4" and the base(leg width) measures 23-1/2" across. The steel hooks measure 6" long and stick out 3-5/8 inches. Unit weight: 14 lbs. 5 ozs.

The original huge beveled mirror is in excellent condition.the turned posts which are the basis for the mirror frame and the entire top of the piece. he umbrella pans are original and instead of being"hole" when one pulls these out.there are actually finished specific areas for the pans. Pretty neat. Secondary wd appears to be all oak and the hardware is all original except for two replaced screws. Height to top = 86" Height to top of marble = 31 1/2" Length = 61 1/2" Depth at deepest = 17" Mirror is 43" tall and 27 3/4" long. These grand antique hall stands are getting harder to find! I believe it is partially copper and brass. There is some copper oxidizing where you can see green. The tree is missing one of the top 4 hooks- see pictures.
