It's a nice heavy wood(weighs 14 pounds) I'm not sure what kind of wood but it has a dark finish. Like mahogany. It measures 70 5/8" tall and the base is diagonally 21 1/4" x 21 1/4" The base is marked"Globe" on the column, right above the base) The Globe Wernicke sticker is mostly removed from under the base, but a small piece is still intact, that says"Cincinnati" where the company was based) At the top are 4 coat/hat hooks. One on each side. They are metal& have an old, vintage patina. There are bugle head screws in the hooks, but there should ... morebe rounded pan head screws. The screws have an aged patina as well& are perfectly functional as is, or you could replace with the correct type. The wood shows wear in various spots like nicks. Description: Here is a beautiful Edwardian stand ca. 1905 made of mahogany with a beautiful patina to it. Most people will think this is a plant stand but it was originally made as a telephone stand. Telephones were probably the most hi-tech devices in most homes of the period and rated their own specialized piece of furniture. This lightweight stand was easy to carry to place by the chair of the person who was receiving the phone call and be put back against the wall when they were finished. I know this because I have seen another example that had a sticker on the bottom saying is was approved by the Western Electric Co. and I learned that at that time Western Electric Co. made the phones and every household only leased the phone from them and they approved a line of accessories they endorsed to be used with their telephones. Someone has ... moreremoved the stickers or decals from the bottom of this stand. This stand will make an excellent plant or lamp stand. It has those nice. Clean lines that were popular during the Edwardian Era. It has a deep mahogany color to it with a great patina with only a few of the nicks and scratches that come from people picking up and putting down a 3– 4 lb. telephone on it for decades. At one point there was a split on one foot that was expertly repaired somewhere back in time and there is a nibble out of one of the side decorations but it is on the underside so not readily visible as you can see in my pictures. For sale is a beautiful walnut hall mirror with beveled glass and marble seat. Overall. The hall mirror is in okay condition. The parts of the seat base and top require gluing, but are not broken or missing. We don't know the age of the mirror, but certainly early 1900's. The walnut wood is in perfect condition. As is the marble seat. The mirror would require to be re-silvered if purchaser wished, but this adds to the character and demonstrates the age of the beautiful beveled glass! Beautiful Antique Victorian Pedestal Walnut Plant Stand. Very ornate carving and trim works. Gorgeous Spiral stem with carved fern leaves going down the base. Very solid. Heavy and sturdy. Top is secure but does move sideways maybe 1" either way. Stands approximately 46" tall with 13" top. Conditions: There are a few light marks/scratches on the top. A small crack in the base, small patched hole in the base, crack around the bottom and few minor imperfections in color on the base. Overall this plant stand is in great shape. Please review all photos for a better description. This is an antique. It is not perfect and will show signs of aging but the detail and craftsmanship is outstanding. Beautiful quarter sawn antique oak hall tree. This piece is early 1900's with bevel mirror. Four double coat hooks which look like they have been painted gold, lift top seat with storage underneath. This piece is nice condition. It does have an old repair on the top inner right arm, close to the back where it was cracked and then has been glued. I have done nothing to this piece as it was acquired in an estate sale and is offered as it is. Lovely piece for entryway and so useful with quite a bit of storage in bench seat.
