The frame is wooden ... moreand very sturdy and the glass is thick. Heavy, and beveled all the way around. There is some cloudiness and streakiness from age, but overall, the mirror looks very good. There are no chips or cracks. This is perfectly useable and hangable and has a look that is very versatile; use it as-is or add something to it(antique hat hooks perhaps) There are two screw eyes and a chain attached to the back for hanging, but I'm not sure if the chain is strong enough to hold up the mirror and would consider upgrading to a heavy wire. The outer dimensions of the frame are 29 1/2" W x 19 1/2" H, and the mirror measures 24" W x 14" H. I will pack it very well, double box it, and insure it during shipping.

A very finely made antique. Circa 1800, French Empire mahogany veneers and solid mahogany dressing mirror in classical architectural form. Two pillars with ormolu mounts to the plinths and capitols support the pediment with lily of the valley wreath ornament. The ogee frame with holds the swivel original glass mirror with original back silvering. The mirror frame with glass is removable for shipment. case has a dovetailed drawer with ormolu wreath and knob. The drawer interior is quartersawn oak. The case secondary wood is maple. Measures 37-1/2" tall by 27-3/4" wide by 14-1/4" deep. Excellent condition: original finish without wear, boards without cracks or chips. 5-1/2" horizontal tight crack to veneer on top of case, and faint cracks to veneer on front very right top corner. Tiny veneer chips to back bottom edge right ... moreside. Ormolu finish bright without dulling or spots. Mirror without damage. Empire Dresser, mahogany, mirror veneer, ca. 1830, Antique, good condition
An Empire Bureau. Or chest of drawers made of mahogany in the early half of the 19th century. This is a grand piece of furniture that would look great in any large space-hallway, large master bedroom, dining room. We had it in our hallway in a 1803 house in upstate New York. There are four large drawers and three small drawers at the top. The largest drawer is directly below the three small top drawers, consistent with the style. Drawer fronts are a mirror veneer, rest of the wood is solid. The drawer pulls are brass. This is a solid, well-built dresser. It is heavy. It stands about 52 inches high, is about 47 inches wide and about 21 inches deep. The drawers are about 16 inches deep. The finish is in relatively good condition; there are scrapes, scuffs, nicks and scratches but it would not necessarily need any work. There is a crack in the ... morewood on one of the sides(visible in photo) The drawer slides could use some repair work, but the drawers function. I believe that the dresser is from the early half of the 19th century because the nails used on the back boards are type I cut(photographed) The back boards are soft wood with a rich brown patina on the back, the part exposed to air. Offered for sale is this 19th Century Victorian dresser and Mirror combo made from Oak. Walnut and Poplar. To the best of my knowledge it has not been refinished. The number"81" is stamped into the back of the mirror in two different places. I can find no other markings. Hidden drawer has at one time had the bottom replaced with newer thin plywood. It is only visible when pulled out and upside down. Dimensions are Width-39 Depth-20 Height-73* When unlatched. The mirror tilts forward and backward. Drawers all operate smoothly. Beautiful ca. 1850 Empire-style tiger oak tall chest with mirror. Original cut glass knobs and claw feet with wooden casters. Mirror detaches with original hardware. Four drawers and two glove drawers. Dovetail joinery. Original finish. Purchased in Harpers Ferry. West Virginia. Local pickup only- Baltimore. MD Height: 48.25 inches. Antique Mahogany Vanity W/mirror Circa 1880
This vanity I acquired from my grandmother about 40 years ago but that doesn't even begin to date it. It had originally belonged to her grandmother. It was built originally in the late 1800's. I dated it based on what could be found for it's style and that my grandmother remembered it when she was a young child. My grandmother was born in 1885. It came by horse and buggy from St Louis in 1898. It has had a couple of changes since then. One was new drawers in the 1930's and the other was a new mirror after arriving here as the original broke during the trip. The vanity will be shipped in one or two boxes. It has several small screws which will allow the legs to be removed as well as the drawers and mirror. It is a very simple task to reassemble and all pieces will be marked to be sure they are in the right place. The vanity ... moreis quite strong and the drawers slide easily. I would live to keep the piece but am needing to sell most things due to an upcoming move to much smaller space. You won't be disappointed and wether for yourself or a little girl to grow into this vanity will be a delight for many more decades.

The back of the dresser shows it belonged to Henry Wims(Williams) An ex-slave according to the News-Palladium from Benton Harbor Michigan(Saturday, April 1, 1950(pg.9) Henry came up to Benton Harbor from Kentucky through Indiana in 1882. When he was a young man, about 20 years of age. He had been to Louisville where the cars stopped and where there was a great concentration of Union soldiers during the Civil war and decided to follow the railroad north and see where the tracks joined the"Underground railway" that he had heard so much about. Also, his wife's father lived at St. Joseph, where there were many ex-slaves and their descendants. His travels brought him to Benton Harbor. The solid walnut dresser ... morehas hand-carved walnut and leaf pulls. Hand-dovetailed drawers and square nails show expert craftsmanship. Finish is excellent with warm antique patina. Hand painted at the later date in white and gold. Job done truly spectacular. Original and good quality bronze handles, locks and escutcheons. The marble is beautiful antique red specimen example, it meshes great with the paint colors, leaves all of the attention on the commode. Great quality of the secondary wood, reverse dovetailing on drawers, they slide in and out like skates, no warping or any such issues. Antique mahogany inlaid travel dresser case, chest 1700's? 1800's
Here we have today is a lovely antique mahogany travel dresser case. Chest from sometime between the 1700's-1800's. Not sure of the true age of the piece or where it was made, it just came with a note which read Georgian mahogany dressing case c 1780. Case has nice wood inlaid, it is 13 1/2" long, 10 1/2" wide and 7" tall. Piece has a main compartment with removal mirror, eight in laid boxes, two glass jars and lots of storage space. There is one main tray that can be removed. There is a bottom drawer which opens up and has a top lid. I could not get the drawer to go all the way back in and there is a crack to the wood bottom of the drawer. The lining of the case is cracked, all of the boxes are in good aged condition, no cracks to the removable boxes, the glass bottles have no cracks, there are some small chips to ... morethe edges, the mirror is in really good condition for it's age, and the pin cushion and other fabric covered pieces have wear, rips and spotting to the fabric. Box shows average wear for it's age, There is some inlaid missing from the top, there is a crack along the top, scuffs and scratches, but everything is tight and nothing is coming apart. The brass handles are tight and box once had a lock to it, but the key is long gone. There is a chip to the bottom front edge of the box, and fading to the wood at the ends of the box. This case is still a really nice antique piece which would be a great addition to anyone's collection. This beautiful Nut Mirror is a rare piece of Antique. The wooden carvings are slightly golden. The inside is nut or wallnut fineer. Look at the backside and see that everything looks okay. Hand painted on front and top of cabinet and on crest of mirror. Beveled mirror in solid mahogany frame on back splash. Hand relief carved head on each front corner. Cabriolet front legs with hand carved feet. Measurements: height to top of mirror 44 ½” width 21 ¼” height to top of cabinet 38” and depth 16” Very good condition given its age.
