A replacement will be required and can be acquired at any glass and mirror shop in almost all towns and cities. They are inexpensive. This is marked B&H, and has a bronze ring to hang it with. Manufactured around 1870. It is almost identical to an easel bronze Bacchus bronze mirror frame I have listed as well. But the easel mirror frame is not marked. Both were acquired from the same estate and they were used as a set, one on a parlour table, the other hanging above it. The two bottom corners of this piece have no feet as does the easel frame, and less flourish on these two corners. It is impossible to tell if this was manufactured this way as part of this set, or if an early owner had it customized this way to hang above the easel frame in my other listing. A very beautiful example of early cast iron and bronze guilding. This piece is 14.25" tall. And 9.5" wide, and heavy. Payment by PayPal only- No eChecks. The images mirror each other so this ... moreis a true pair and the lamps feature two different views. On one side is a striped awning, draped pavilion with tiled floor. It's a party with elegantly dressed and coifed Lords and Ladies conversing while servants offer refreshment. On the opposing side is a lovely longtailed songbird in a rose thicket surrounded by butterflies. Both scenes are topped by raised golden lizards with long tails. The handles are green opposing or"kissing kitties" The"walls" dividing the scenes feature 2 pairs of scaled google eyed coy fish and abundant flora decoration. The surface of the lamps has a wonderful slightly raised texture where the paints were applied. The photos do not do proper justice to these fabulous lamps! They are large. Measuring 16 1/2" to the top of the vase and 9" wide. The mounts are antique brass and the bases are footed chinese wood stands in dark brown. I have just replaced sockets in both lamps and they function beautifully. The shades shown are not included in this auction but if you want them, I will include them in a separate box for an additional $100.00 plus shipping. In my opinion, these lamps really should have large custom made tall drum shades. This pair was purchased from a wealthy estate in South Beach about 10 years ago and are VERY FINE. I do not know the exact age and I am not going to take them apart to see the markings on the bottom of the vases. Ebay limits the number of photos to 12. for sale a very wonderful antique john jelliff deep well dresser. constructed of the finest walnut lumber of the day with great burl accents just in the right places. it was made circa 1870. it is all original except the mirror. i have owned it for years and the old mirror never bothered me. But is was very smokey and had lost a good bit of silver backing, so i did replace it before i listed it. the mirror is just like the one that was in it, heavy 1/4 inch plate glass heavy mirror. it features very nice candles stands, great crest and swirls of carving at the edges of the formed top crest. it has all the original tear drop pulls, some of which have lost a bit of paint over the years from use. the drawer joints are hand cut dovetails. it is in near mint original condition. it has a secret drawer at the bottom, then two large drawers all the ... moreway across and two top drawers, one for top of each outer portion. the drawers slide like butter, work perfectly. the marble is all original to the piece and is in perfect condition and is very fine carrara marble. it is a wonderful and beautiful piece of furniture. i expect at a high end antique shop it would have a price tag of at least 5K on it. i am starting it at what i paid for it a long time ago. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good luck btw. This diminutive antique mahogany chest was probably a vanity or jewelry chest for a man with one drawer and original brass handle. It is mostly handmade with a hand dovetailed drawer. Hand chamfered drawer bottom and hand sawn arch ends. The front of the drawer appears to be burl. The front of the drawer and front legs are reeded. I would date it as early 1800's. Antique Hardwood Cottage Chest with 6 Drawers
This is an Antique. All original hardwood cottage dressers with 6 drawers and a storage area with door. The piece is hand painted in off whites and grayish colors with hand painted greens and orange floral prints. The piece is a true antique, held together with the dovetail method that was used during that time period, the 1800s to early 1900s area. The handles are antique black with white knobs that hangs down loosely. The colored paint and floral prints are still in very good condition, but the white foundation paint looks rather distressed with some discolorations that have occurred over time. However, with a good paint job, you can turn this into an amazing one of a kind piece. Or, if you like distressed furniture, you can leave it just the way it is. Here is a very nice antique Sheraton dressing mirror. It is marked on inside bottom of drawer. I can make out: FROM CW BOTELER STORE 7th Street WASHINGTON D.C. I haven't been able to make out the words above STORE. It is in very good antique condition. Looks to me to be all original except it has been refinished at some point in time. Nice inlay banding around the mirror and around the front of case. This measures 14-1/8" long by 6-1/2" deep by 16-1/4" high to very top. Mirror part measures 12" x 9-3/4. Shown laying on top of the dresser in photo. It attaches easily but I did not want to attach until it was in its new home! Two pieces with mirror attached firmly with brackets on backside. Two small drawers on top with beautiful old marble slab in the center area. Measures 39" by 17" and is 40" high at its highest point. Is one of the heaviest pieces I have ever owned. Solid Cherry with Poplar Secondary Woods. The top. Sides, drawer fronts and feet facings are all cherry. The bottom board is dovetailed ... moreonto the sides. And the top is SLIDE dovetailed onto the top of the sides, with supporting rails mortised into the sides. The drawer slides and spacers mortised and nailed into the interior of the case. The back boards are nailed on, and make up the lower part of the back feet returns. The feet: the feet are guaranteed 100% original. And intact in superb condition. The feet are attached with blocking plates, which are nailed onto the bottom board, and hand scooped out to accommodate the curly dew drops of the feet facing. The front feet are held in place with hand cut and formed glue blocks. The Drawers: 5 graduating drawers. Solid cherry drawer fronts, with cherry cockbeaded trim around them. Poplar secondary woods. The drawer bottoms are ship lapped, and hand chamfered. Having ship lapped drawer bottoms, is amazing, and helps with shrinkage. The sides and back of the drawer are nearly 5/8" thick, which is tremendous! On the back of the drawers are hand cut dowels that act as spacers and drawer stops. All are intact. RARE ANTIQUE DRESSER W MARBLE TOP
my dad had this dresser for over 50 years and I'm pretty sure he didn't buy it new. I have no knowledge of this item my dad recently passed away so I am forced to sell. It stands 42 inches tall x 39" wide x18"deep. All drawers are intact in great condition and open and close with ease. There is a chunk missing out of what seems to be the back panel as shown in one of the pictures but I do have the piece of wood that came off of it for possibly an easy fix. I estimate this dresser being fRom somewhere in the late 1800's. Unique and Stunning antique Mahogany and Birch Chest on Chest Highboy c. 1860's
I am offering up for auction a very beautiful antique chest on chest Highboy that was handmade 150 to 175 years ago. It is very unique with the 2 tone coloring and the intricate sunburst type design on the bottom drawer. I think this 2 tone coloring is called banded. The sunburst or compass rose type design is actually concave creating a half circle indentation. It is 6 feet 2 3/4 inches tall. It measures about 18 1/2 inches deep and 43 3/4 inches wide across the band below the very top. It has varying widths due to chest on bottom then a"waistline" so to speak( 45 1/2 inches) where 2 chests meet then the chest on top then the top piece of trim which is the same 45 1/2 inches as the middle. As you can see from the photo it is loaded with drawers! There are 3 small on top then 3 long ones below that makes up the top chest then the ... morebottom chest is 2 drawers then 2 larger drawers. I am not an antique expert. But I took some of the drawers to a well established reputable antique dealer in our area and it was said that it was a handmade piece of furniture probably about 150 to 175 years old made of mahogany and birch. The drawers are dovetailed as you can see in the photos. It has the bracket style feet. I am not certain about the hardware on the piece. The hardware looks old but the screws that hold them on are not, so the screws have been replaced. Each drawer(10) has a place that looks like a key would fit in to lock them, but this is just for decoration. It is in excellent condition showing only a few blemishes on the feet and around the bottom edge as I have shown in the photos. Some talented woodcrafter made it and the bottoms of the drawers and the boards on the back are handhewn. It is walnut and even though some of the boards on the back have been replaced they are walnut also. The drawer runners have been replaced so that the drawers work easily. Other than than and the back. It is all orginal. The top has had some minor repair that is shown in two of the pictures. The piece has 4 drawers, top one extends out over the rest giving it a very elegant look. The top is 45" wide, 21 1/2" deep at the top drawer and 20" deep the rest of the way down. There are 4 drawers as you can see, roomy. I show a picture of the dovetails on the drawers, also the inside of one of the drawers with a knothole. Antique Pine Bow Front Chest of Drawers. Denmark circa 1850-70 Description The gentle bow front of this 4-drawer chest adds to the simple grace of the piece. It has been given a waxed finish. Bringing out the warmth of the wood. A pine chest of drawers such as this were typical coming of age gifts to a young woman in the 1800's of Denmark. When she travelled by train, the shipping label was attached to the back as she moved from her home with her parents to a city where she would learn a trade or work in another home. On the back of this chest is a label with the first name of Edith and the city of Copenhagen spelled in Danish. This is a fun, special find that the label remains after so many years of use. Will ship if you make arrangements. This dresser was handmade in the Midwest during the Civil War period. Likely before 1860. The back of the dresser shows it belonged to Henry Wims(Williams) An ex-slave according to the News-Palladium from Benton Harbor Michigan(Saturday, April 1, 1950(pg.9) Henry came up to Benton Harbor from Kentucky through Indiana in 1882. When he was a young man, about 20 years of age. He had been to Louisville where the cars stopped and where there was a great concentration of Union soldiers during the Civil war and decided to follow the railroad north and see where the tracks joined the"Underground railway" that he had heard so much about. Also, his wife's father lived at St. Joseph, where there were many ex-slaves and their descendants. His travels brought him to Benton Harbor. There is geometric parquetry bandings in maple, cherry, and mahogany. The dovetailed drawers have the original porcelain knobs, the interiors with period wallpaper liners. The mirror frame and harp are leaf carved walnut, the mirror original. The feet are carved as leaf scrolls. It measures 37" tall by 17-1/2" wide 13-1/2' deep. An antique. Circa 1890's- 1900's, light olive painted hardwood Louis XVI style chest of drawers. There are applied laurel and berry, bellflowers, rosettes, and bandings. Five of the drawers retain the original gilt metal pulls, escutcheons, and locks, the top drawer with new replaced brass knobs, missing the lock, no key. Drawer interiors of oak. The top has a polished, beveled, beautiful mottled marble slab. Chest measures 56" tall by 34" wide by 19" deep. Very good condition: original paint finish with minor flakes, no cracks or chips to case boards. Marble very fine. THIS PIECE HAS WONDERFUL CARVED ACCENTS THROUGH OUT THE WHOLE VANITY. THE WOOD IS SOLID MAHOGANY WITH MAPLE INTERIOR DRAWERS. THERE IS WONDERFUL DOVETAIL JOINTS ON THIS PIECE. Antique Eastlake Victorian Walnut And Burl Wood Oak ? Ladies Vanity Dresser
Up for your consideration today is an antique Eastlake ladies dresser. I bought this with the intention of restoring it. As it is painted black by the former owner. I just have to many projects at this point so I am offering it up at a fraction of what this beauty would be worth in its original state. Beautiful Antique Victorian 4 Drawer Oak Dresser Pin & Cove Joints LOCAL PICK UP
~ 4 Drawer Oak Dresser ~ Very pretty piece of furniture from about 1890 to 1900. It has pin& cove joint construction on the drawers. In very good vintage condition. It has a small break to the bottom frame on the right leg. See photo. It has great decorative brass pulls and knobs. The finish is satin. It measures 44" wide x 20" deep and 31" tall.
