Original Steampunk, Not A Remake Or Reproduction! Normal 0 false false false EN-CA X-NONE X-NONE For sale is an amazing set of original. Solid brass, hea vy bookends. Call them antique or vintage but they are definitely old. Such bookends were made out of the original parts taken from military vessels. Ships or submarines. The geared bookends are the perfect examples of modernism or industry affected art movement It is also an example of a very early Stempunk assemblage. This item came to my collection of geared items about two years ago. It has been in the Museum of Gears collection since and now it is available for sale. My museum is collecting funds for acquiring new items and as the result, ... morethe numerous articles from the museum's collection will be placed on Ebay. This is a rare opportunity for any collector to gain some interesting items from the past. I am starting this auction with $50, even thought I paid much more for this pair of bookends. The bookends have all original parts. The green fabric on the bottom was temporarily removed in order to clean the grime that have been accumulated for years and to verify the numbers. Those green pads will be included. In case somebody prefers to glue them back, but in my opinion it would be better to replace those pads with the new ones. The number"230" on both racks matches with the number on the gears(cogs) which means this is a complete set. In order to make these bookends look shiny, you can use a safe polish like Pre-Lim Surface Cleaner applied with a microfiber cloth. If you want to protect them from the environment, you can use museum grade lacquer or micro crystalline wax. Notice the last picture in this listing. Teeth count marked on them: 96. 80,64,56, 48(x2) 40, the smallest are not marked, hand counted: 36,28,24 The measure roughly: 8" 7" 5.5" 4.75" 4.25" x2) 3.5" 3.25" 2.5" and 2.25" The last pic is a gear assembly that I have. 16 Vintage Industrial Machine Age Gears - Steampunk - metal detector find
Up for auction are 16(sixteen) Metal Gears that I dug out of the ground while metal detecting. All 16 are approximately 2-and-a-half inches wide.but some are thinner than the others. see pics) I soaked them in vinegar and then used a plastic toothbrush to remove the rust. I got lazy and didn't get all of it. I must point out that several of the gears have rust-pitting from being buried for so long. Still pretty cool for a metal detector find. I don't know what these were used for. But they were found near the old site of a streetcar car-barn from the 1920's-30's. They could also be agricultural.maybe you know. The 603 is a gear drive machine with all metal gears. The top horizontal shaft,top vertical shaft,lower vertical and horizontal shaft and hook set gears are all metal for long life, Singer used metal gears on these early 600 class machines and later switched to plastic/nylon gears on later models. Manufactured at Singers Elizabethport NJ factory in 1963. This is an early 600 class machine, It has the Auto Reel(bobbin winder) button to the right of the throat plate elevator lever and not under the slide plate, The throat plate elevator allows the operatot to raise the throat plate up for darning and freehand sewing without needing a feed cover plate and it also releases the throat ... moreplate when changing to the straight stitch or chain stitch needle plates The 603 Special is the 600 class version of the Singer 403 and 503. 80 Vintage Brass Gears Altered Art Repurposed Industrial Machine Age Steampunk
Great lot of antique clock gears. 95% are brass, only a few made of steel. I've somewhat wiped them down but they will need to be cleaned more, so expect a little soiling. There are 6 or 7 really nice winding power mechanisms in this lot, the good/safe type, won't have a steel band flying at ya. If you do decide to dismantle the clock winds for the big brass gear, be very careful, the steel bands inside can cause serious injury.
