There is a little rust on what I think is called the slide bar, I was told that the ribbon is also original and a restoration shop believed it was, but I could not prove it. When I first aquired this typewriter about a year ago I called a resoration shop to ask how I should store it, I brought it to him and he lubricated all of insides to prevent rust, that was it, and recommend that it stay indoors, and that is where it has been. Please examine pictures closely to make sure you want this item. I am new to ebay and looking for positive feedback, and want my customers to know exactly what they are receiving. This model was available from 1939- 1950 only. It has no tab key because that was not yet invented. It is a 4 bank style. Meaning 4 rows. There is a"backspacer" key. This typewriter is complete with a case. In which the typewriter is actually locked in to. All keys work as does the carriage return and space bar. It is in good condition, but is a little dusty from being in storage. There is a small scrape you can see the photo and see the scrape. The case shows signs of wear but is in good shape. Antique Underwood Standard Typewriter No. 5 Working
The Underwood 5. The machine that would dominate the market for three decades, first appeared in 1901. This machine is in good condition. All of the keys work, shift and tab both work. The barral rolls nicely, and the wheel that tightens the ribbon works great. There is a little rust on what I think is called the slide bar, I was told that the ribbon is also original and a restoration shop believed it was, but I could not prove it. When I first aquired this typewriter about a year ago I called a resoration shop to ask how I should store it, I brought it to him and he lubricated all of insides to prevent rust, that was it, and recommend that it stay indoors, and that is where it has been. This very attractive collectable antique portable typewriter appears to be in fine shape. It has been in the case for decades. I tested each key with paper and they all appear to work fine. The roller is in pretty good shape for its age. The ribbon needs re-inking or replacement. Even the return bell works! Beautiful antique typewriter. This was quite the advanced technology of the era. Upon researching. I have determined that this is an Underwood No. 3. It has several patent numbers on the back so my guess is that it is from the mid 1920s. It is in very nice condition for its age. The black paint really still stands out. It appears to be in working condition but likely needs a little fine tuning such as maybe a little oiling as some of the keys don't always pop It does type but has very old red and black ribbons that need to be replaced because the type is very faint. Please see all the pictures for detail. It is missing some paint and has a little rust. Some of the keys were replaced with handwritten letters. This is only noticeable on close inspection. It is in good working condition. I am not a typewriter expert or typewriter technical person. It has not been serviced or lubricated- I will leave that to the buyer. It has all original parts except for a new ribbon and one missing rubber foot pad. See the attached photograph for an example of how it types. It comes with a new black ribbon installed. It also will take black/red combination ribbons which are available from other Ebay vendors. There is a lever on top which is used to switch from black to red without removing the ribbon(see photos) The machine has the serial number F681958 which places the manufacture year in 1933. Here is an Antique Underwood Standard Typewriter. It has no model number that I can find but my research tells me it’s a Model No. 3. This is a harder-to-find Model than most Underwoods. This carriage is designed for accounting and bookkeeping and made to accommodate a ledger size sheet of paper with a 14.5-inch rubber roll. Its outside dimensions are approximately 17 inches long(not including outside platen knobs) and 12 inches from front to back and 9 inches tall. This typewriter is in very good condition. It is very clean for its age and has been well taken care of. The paint is all original and in good condition with all the original stenciling intact. The keys are all in good condition and all work fine. It types 12 characters=1 inch. The only issue I could find is the space bar will only start working if you center the page in the platen. ... moreI believe the front top bar has a slight bend and has caused the space bar be slightly off-balance. But since the platen is large there is plenty of room to place the paper towards the center of the roller so the space bar will function properly. I remember seeing this one regularly as a small child at my Grandmothers house. I thought it was long gone until I found it in on a shelf cleaning out my late parent’s basement a few years back. I recall my Dad said it actually belonged to his grandfather. The details I am able to provide are as follows: Black all-metal No. 5 Underwood Typewriter Serial number is worn off brass colored plate List of Patent Dates on the back include the first one April 5. 1910 and the last one is March 2. 1926 After Patent Date list. Antique Underwood Typewriter~#5~1900-1915~Ser.#1039633~Nice Condition
Antique Underwood typewriter number 5. Earliest patent date 1900 to latest date of 1915. Serial number is 1039633. I am not an expert. So here is my description to the best of my ability: There appears to be no missing parts. All the glass keys function. They do not stick. The type bars move up and down crisply. When I type to the end. The bell does not ring. The shift key works to bring the carriage up, but the carriage itself sticks, so you have to push it back down. The carriage slides back easily. The roll bar functions normally. It needs cleaning and oiling. Also needs a ribbon. There is an area in the back that appears to have been repaired at one point(see photo) It has minimal rust and some paint loss in the lettering. It has all 4 rubber feet and they are secure. This typewriter was a classic for it's day and would display very ... morewell and could be brought back to fully functioning condition with a little TLC. We have for sale a Very Nice Antique Vintage Underwood Typewriter Copyright 1896/1923. It was purchased at an estate sale. It’s very clean appears everything is intact. The knob on the right hand side is broken in half. All the keys work nice. Everything advances the way it should. Some of the typewriter keys are a little askew. This typewriter was kept in very nice condition. There is some paint loss on some of the black paint. It has a ribbon in it but it doesn't have much ink in it. I polished some of the metal parts just to see what would happen and it looks good. I put up a lot of photos to give you a good idea of the typewriters condition. Other than the knob, I don't believe anything else is broken. If you have specific questions on something don’t be afraid to ask and I will do my best to answer. Antique Underwood Typewriter No. 5 in MINT Condition with a FULL box of Paper!!
For sale is this Underwood Typewriter No. 5 in absolutely perfect condition. In cleaning the attic at my parent's house. I found a large, heavy box and upon opening it up, this typewriter was inside along with a full box of typewriter paper. This typewriter is in original condition and looks to have very little use. All the components are present and best of all, it works perfectly! Unlike other Underwood's I've seen from the same era, this typewriter is shiny. No flat black finish here. The box of paper also looks to be from the 1950's or 1960's and is completely full. See photos for better detail of the paper and the typewriter. The space bar is not moving the carriage, the keys all stick and do not return, the ribbon is cut in half, the left end of the carriage when lifted is loose and can be raised a couple inches before it stops due to the right side still being attached, photos 10 and 11 show most of these parts Other than that it may be missing parts don't see any myself The keys have a few color shades from ware The last date is May 8th 1917 and the other marks are fair with the sides artwork quite worn Thank you for your purchase

Underwood Typewriter Original Glass Keys. Working condition. All keys strike properly. The ribbon feeds properly. forgot to show in pictures, but the orig. metal cased ribbon will be included and is in excellent condition. There is some scratches from where the lid closes near the sides. pictured on the sides near the ribbon canisters) There are scuffs, scratches and worn areas, but otherwise very nice looking typewriter. There doesn't seem to be any broken or repaired parts other than some dried/cracked rubber. The paper roller rubbers have flat spots and one of the rubber feet has come off but can be glued back on or replaced. The case is pretty scuffed/scraped up and has some wear on the corners and some loose material. But no structural flaws. Seems of sound construction. Latches but no key. UNDERWOOD TYPEWRITER EARLY 1920's MODEL Early 1920's Underwood Typewriter that is in very good condition. With all the parts functioning, the keys are free and straight. It even has a ri bbon on it. But needs a new on e because the old one is dr ied out. The carr iage moves freely and return works. Paper feed is in good operating condition, the last patient date on the back is May 8, 1917 not sure the exact manufacture date of this typewriter but it appears to match those that were listed as 1920, 1921's, It may be older I am not an expert on these but I am sure there is information out there on the Internet that can fill in the blanks. 1936 Underwood Champion antique typewriter. This is non-functioning. As the pictures indicate. There are two hammers stuck in a mid-position. Includes old ribbon(installed) and case. One of the latches on the case is broken and, as a result, will not latch. The rubber feet on the bottom of the unit are deteriorated and detached. Shipping via FEDEX to continental U.S. only = $15. Underwood beauty! This was found in NYC estate very. I dont know much about it but its clean seems to be in great shape selling as was found in a estate. Did have a leather case on it but it was falling apart and very brittle so I threw it out. This will be proffesionaly packed.Enjoy!
