Not only is this a super cool antique but this scale was used in the famous McCrory's Five& Dime Store in York County. PA. There is a lot of info on google about McCrory's Five& Dime History! Just think how many little kids had their candy weighted on this scale. Just think of their excitement as they watched and waited for the clerk to weigh the candy and give it back to them! Unfortunately the scale has seen better days! It appears to be in fine working order but it really could use a good cleaning. We are not going to attempt to do anything to this scale, we'll leave that all up to the buyer. We do not want to take a chance on damaging any part ... moreof this lovely antique! The scale is so old that the labels are all worn or have rubbed off, over time. There is one large label that was on the main arm of the scale and the only text we can make out is"York County, PA" There is no info on the manufacturer of the scale. The only thing we can see is where you read the weight, EXACT WEIGHT printed across the top. We did some research on the Exact Weight company and seen other scales that are almost identical. We are 99% certain this scale was made by Exact Weight but please realize that there is a chance we could be incorrect. We are not scale collector's or experts. We are doing out best to describe this piece but please ask any questions and view photo's for the best and most accurate description. The scale is missing two of the weights. The two missing are the two smallest out of the five. On the bottom of the scale there is the number 1001. We do not know if this helps with researching this scale. Antique J P Coats Oak Store Counter Desk Spool Cabinet with Stand This antique spool desk came from a general store in Eastern North Carolina that had been locked up for 80 years before the auction. This desk is in the same condition as it was found in that store. With the exception that the missing drawer knobs were replaced. The desk includes an ink bottle receptacle, pen holder, and three compartments for letters or other small items. The desk sits in the shallow wooden base that is stained to match the desk. The desk only sits in the base. It is not attached in any way that harms the desk's integrity. The base is attached to an antique wrought-iron sewing machine stand. The top lifts for storage and has a hinged arm to hold the top open. All product decals are original and unrestored. There are four drawers with wooden replacement ... moreknobs stained to match the desk. The black writing surface is original and unrestored. There are some small chips. The most noticeable is located where the lids meets the desk on the left side. There are light scratches and dings typical of a piece this age. An authentic early 20th century Wrigley Gum Store display in the form of a revolving carousel display case that holds 5 glass paneled slots-to display lots of different packs of gum, manufactured by the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company! This great country store display item, would have obviously been placde on a counter and the gum comes out of the bottom of the glass panel-which can revolve like a"Lazy Susan" to give you a choice of gum. The stand is made of metal(zinc? with 5 original glass panels that actually lift out for easy cleaning. The stand is approx. 13" tall and has a diameter of 8" across. The carousel is signed on the inside of the piece and it reads: Patents Pending, Wm. Wrigley Jr. Co. Chicago. The little paper insert is also original and place one the inside where the metal lid comes off. It gives you ... moreinstructions and directions for use. The counter has a refinished old walnut top that was lovingly restored by the previous owners of the antique shop. Size of the smaller one at the rear of the shop is: 32 in. height by 11 feet long by 34 in. in depth by the walnut top dimensions. Here is a great estate sale find! It's an old tin tea bin or dispenser that would have sat on a counter in a General Store way back when! Probably from the late 1800s or around the turn of the century. I don't know much about these type of items. It has its problems as mentioned in the"Condition description" above but still has fabulous stenciled graphics including a cute young girl watching her kitten drink milk. So charming! The top hinged lid contains a revolving cylinder which has different types of teas stenciled on it. The one currently shown is"Gun Powder" There is also Japan. E. Breakfast(English Breakfast) Succhong, and another which is pretty scratched out so I can't read it. I left the window open to"Gun Powder" because the cylinder is dented and doesn't roll smoothly around. I don't ... morewant to scratch the graphics and more than they are. You can see the lid has a broken hinge and is dented so it doesn't sit squarely on the bin. The small door at the bottom is missing its knob and also has a dent. You can see all the scratches and wear from the photos but the graphics are still very good! I haven't seen another with a girl and kitten. Antique 1800's Drug Store Candy Counter Pharmacy Apothecary Jar
A very nice. Crystal clear drugstore apothecary jar. These jars were often used for candy display but had other uses in a drug store. This particular one is 12" tall with a diameter of 4 1/2" The bottom has a large pontil(see photo) There are numerous seed bubbles in the glass along with a few potstones which are usual in this early blown glass. You can also see these in the photos. The cover and the inside of the top of the jar are ground for a perfect fit. All around nice shape. This particular jar came from the basement of the Oakes Drug Store in Oakes, North Dakota. The store had been closed for years and the contents were sold out at a small sale. Antique General Store Tin Bin Counter Display 19th C.
There is no reserve on this great old general store tin bin or caddy. We are pleased offer this lovely antique tin bin. Probably used in a general store in the late 19 th C. It is in very good overall condition with very little rust. The paint on the front has been touched up long before we acquired it. But fortunately nothing has been done to the lovely young woman who forms the cameo in the center. The gold and black has pretty much been completely done over, but it may have been a long time ago as there are some dings in the paint. The hinges have a really old solder repair which might indicate these are old“fixes. These were pretty valuable pieces to the store keeper and he wouldn’t have wanted them to look too worn. Offered for you consideration is this Rare& unusual General Store Country Display cabinet. This is a very old retail sales counter dispenser tin for various typeds of Tea blends such as Gunpowder. Imperial, Hyson, Japan and Oolong. Usually one would see a tin display like this in individual containers. This piece has 5 partisioned bins that held the Tea inventory all on one area of the counter for tea buyers. Hand Painted& screened decorations on the front are of various portraits and animals. Also on each side there is a company name& type of"Caddy name" of the maker. So far we have made out the one side to say F. Sturges, Chicago. The other side we can just read the word"Caddy" Each of the 5 dispenser doors has the tea name and a porcelain knob. Dimensions are 36 1/2" Wide x 26 1/2" Deep by 19" ... moretall. This tin is complete with very clean particians on the inside where the tea was stored in leaf form. The outside paint is worn and there are dents and scratches all around. But the tin still displays very nicely on a counter. And needs a restorers touch to enhance the beauty that is still there on this Victorian Treasure. Overall it is very clean and remarkably rust free. It has numerous age appropriate cosmetic flaws including small dents, paint flakes and scratches. The mirror is in excellant condition with all its parts and decoration in very fine shape. The mirror has a beveled glass edge within the frame. That is 1/2" wide all the way around. The mirror in its stand measures 23" wide by 17 1/2" tall by 6" in dia at the rounded bases. The mirror in its frame only measures 15 3/4" wide by 11 3/4" tall. The mirror by itself is in good shape. With no chips or cracks. However it does need some re-silvering. Due to its being an Antique it would be fine to use as it is, showing its true age. However we mention for accuracy in listing. I could have sold these early 1900's Candy Store Counter display jars seperate. But the have been together for so long I'am listing them in one sale with no reserve! Each hand blown glass jar measures 5 1/2" base dia x 12" total ht including the lid. The tin lids are embossed with a great looking Art Nouveau/ Art Deco design and the sides are punched with the name"Rowntrees Gums" on the front& back side. Since the display jars are hand blown one jar weighs 2.1 lbs and the other one is over a pound heavier weighing 3.3 lbs. Both are still in ex condition however one jar has two nicks on the inside edge of the top rim( see last two pics) Both nicks are well concealed when the lid is firmly in place.

It has many inperfections in the glass, ie, bubbles, wavy stops as old glass often has. It is a heavy thick glass. The rubber gasket to the lid is gone, if it ever had one. It is in very good antique condition no cracks, or chips that I could see, but there is some use rubbing and scratches which only add to its character. All other glass is virtually scratch free so that you can see items inside of display. Otherwise in excellent condition for a piece this age! This counter currently resides in Corinth. TX 76210.
