The computer company) IBM purchased the ... moreDayton Scale Company in 1933 and sold it to Hobart Manufacturing Co. in 1934. So this scale was built in about 1933 and is about 81 years old. What a history and what a great item to have if you like to display(or even use) antiques like this. As you can see in the photo, the Dayton and IBM names are printed right on the scale. The scale is Style No. 167 and has a 5lb capacity with weight reading on one side and computing sale price information on the other side. Both scales are protected by glass which is fully intact. There has been no restoration of this scale. It is, with normal wear and tear, in its original condition. The scale is 15" high by 15" long by 4" wide and weighs about 20 lbs. The tray is 12" by 8.5" by 3" The circular green inspection label on the front of the scale reads that the scale was inspected for proper calibration during June 1940 by a Belmont, MA inspector. The serial no. of the scale is 1065767. The scale is in good working condition(the moving parts do so smoothly) however, it has not been calibrated in recent times. This scale is a rare find which can be restored or simply left as is shown in the pictures.

For your consideration is a beautiful antique scale that is in good working condition. This is a Dayton scale manufactured by the International Business Machine Corporation. This scale dates back to around the mid 1920's- 1930's. This is a 5 lb. capacity scale. With the serial# 1034056. The scale is cast iron. And the paint is crackled, with some chips, which adds to its patina. I love how the"business" side of the scale is worn, with stains and the side that would have faced the customer is very clean. The glass is in great condition with no damage or cracks. The piece comes with a non metallic dish that will allow you to pour out the contents. Great antique scale by the The Holbart Manufacturing Company. Missing the large piece of glass. Scale is still accurate. As you can see in the pictures It has a inspection tag on top from 1940 Cincinnati Ohio. Shipping is based on the weight and oversized shipping size. If I have overcharged by more than 3.oo I will refund. In the same vein if I have undercharged I will expect you to pay the difference. Vintage 10 lb. Hobart Dayton Porcelain Scale Model 200 Food Grocery Candy Etc.
ONLY ONE FOR AUCTION OR SALE ON EBAY* Up for bid or purchase is a vintage Dayton Hobart scale that was found in an old storage trailer that had everything from slicers to kitchen trickets to cookbooks from my aunt's old candy and deli store. There may be some similar to this on ebay. But I've yet to see this model number, nor one in such nice shape. Some more specifics. measures approx. 10-1/2" in width, 20" in length(front to back) and 29-1/2" in height, with the platform itself being 11" square, and the top of the scale being 17" in width; is a 10-lb. scale with increments marked at every ounce at the top(picture#6) HOWEVER- as seen in picture#3- has numerous lines with many other increments and measurements; has the pointer/rod that's marked 2 to 40 and has markings such as"2-1/2 2 for 5, 3 1/3 ... more3 for 10, 6-1/4 4 for 25" etc; has a plate on the back that states"Manufactured by Dayton Scale Division- The Hobart Manufacturing Co. Troy OH USA- Serial No. 1318274- Model 200- Cap'y 10 lb" picture#7) has another plate that is stamped out that it was inspected in Feb. 1989; has some sort of bubble-like level in the back of the platform(picture#9) and has a label on the front that shows it was serviced by Toledo Scale Co. in Wilkes Barre Pa. picture#12) Is in unbelievably great shape for it's years. I believe it to be made of porcelain over cast iron; has only one chip in it(about 1/2" in diameter) on the back edge as seen in picture#4, but can very easily be painted over; the numbers and name are still vibrant and clearly visible; and the glass, yes GLASS, is still intact! Enough to add character but not so much to be a distraction The construction is cast iron with porcelain enamel overlay We have cleaned it some but it may need some fine tuning to really make it sparkle There are some scratches on the weigh plate This scale weighs in somewhere around 100#s we believe. Beautiful Antique Scale by "The Computing Scale Co." Dayton Ohio, Object D'Art.
Here is a beautiful example of antique ingenuity. This was the computer of the it's day. The chrome is absolutely rich and full. It almost looks like silver. There is a no 170213 and another 2 or 3 digit# which we can't make out. The second one starts with a 2. It also says Ap 20 97:I assume that's the date it was made. This scale sits 13"wide x 9 deep" x 11 high" in all it's splendor. Under the scale sits a rotating mechanism:let's it be lowered and raised and turned 360 degrees. I've never seen anything like it! This is the Rolls Royce of scales. Any scale collector w ould be fortunate to have this in their collection. About 30-40 hours of work have gone into restoration by an expert craftsman. This scale is in overall evry good condition and appears to be nearly complete and unbroken. It is made of heavy cast iron and solid brass. Sometime throughout it's lifetime. Someone overpainted the original black paint with an almond/yellow color(ick) All of the brass nameplates and accessories appear to be present and attached to the scale. The loose weights appear to be complete, but there could be one or two missing(I do not know what is suppose to be there to be honest) It is missing the piece of either glass or marble that you place the product on that's being weighed. It is clearly marked on the factory placard with the latest patent date of October 17th, 1893. Antique Old Fashioned Dayton Candy Scale - No 166
My Dad loved well made things; he picked up this candy scale up at an auction in the 50's. It seems to have been partially repainted and the bottom plate is missing. But all glass is intact and it still works! Amazing! To the best of my knowledge, everything is original except the stains and some paint. The photo of the brass plates on the arm look grey, but they actually look brassy in real life as in the farther away shots. I attempted some cleaning of the typical dried oil, so the base cap turned very bright as shown in that photo. I decided to stop cleaning. It is heavy so shipping will be $51.98. USA only. This is a project that I will just never finish so I'm listing here so someone else can continue it on. Preferably have it restored and enjoy it. This is a Dayton Deli MoneyWeight Scale. My best guess is this scale is circa 1920-1940. Sorry I no longer have access to their catalog. This unit will look great when restored and needs very minor mechanical repairs. I'll try to describe everything the best I can. The scale works fine but will need to be zeroed, ie. it starts at 2lbs not at zero. easily done) The front portion where you would weigh something, those aren't dirt spots those are chips in the porcelain and should be refinished. This entire piece is porcelain coated. The electrical cord works but I would advise against using it before you replace it or repair it correctly, it is just old. This older Dayton Police Car is excellent condition. I believe that this car dates from the early 2000's or so. But I am sure you will know. Included here is 1 Gearbox Police Car of a few years past. This car appears to have never been played with and still retains its original packaging and is mint in condition. This is a 1/43 scale car and measures about 4-1/2" inches in length. The box is strong and clean. And shows little signs of wear(a few light window wrinkles) The box is marked GM/Ford and Gearbox Toys. Scale has a dark red painted finish that shows wear. Scrapes to the finish. The body is white with porcelain over cast-iron with a removable metal oval scale platform. The scale glass is still intact with the numbers and scale hand visible. Moderate rusting along the numbers. Metal platform and screws. The metal back plate pictured has one screw missing with the plate hanging downward however this is easily fixable. Up for bids is a neat old Scale Topper Plaque. It is from"The Computing Scale Co. Dayton Ohio.U.S.A. It was in business from 1891 to 1914 and later became IBM. It is 18& 1/2 in. long and 2& 3/8 in. high, the metal is heavy and about 1/8 in. thick. Someone has added a wire to hang it on the wall, it looks like it dropped in a holder on the scale. These scales were used in general stores to weigh anything from barrels to candy. It looks in very good condition. Please look at the pictures and email any questions.
