The scale has a turned stand and a rounded base. The scale has a dial that tightens or loosens the counter balance for use. The weight plates are secured with three small chains. The bottom of the scale had a felt lining as shown in pictures. The scale measures 15-1/2 inches in height. 13-1/2 inches at widest point from the weight plates, base diameter measures 4-1/4 inches. There is apparent ware to the brass as shown in pictures. Spotting. Slight patina, rusting to chains, wear to felt. The dial is in working condition and despite the ware this piece will still look amazing out on display. An attractive piece that will look fantastic in a study. Living room or office. Beautiful vintage white colored German compact beam scale for the trade. Could have been used in a candy store or other business that sells small items by weight. Includes a stainless steel holding pan that measures 7 1/2" in diameter and 1 3/4" tall. Very well made. The base and many of the components are cast iron and steel. The unpainted metal parts are stainless steel and include the beams the weights slide on and the weights themselves. The rough measurements of the scale are 10" wide x 7 1/2" deep and 6" tall with pan in place. Scale capacity is 5 kilograms. Top beam measures up to one kilogram and the bottom one goes up to 4 kilograms. There is locking lever which is engaged when weighing is completed. Hello and thank you f or viewing our listing for. Scale This listing is for a previously owned Vintage Henry Troemner Balance Scale- Pat'd Feb. 18. 1877. The scale is made of iron and brass. The left side features a removable tray. The base has slots for 5 weights which are all present. There is also 1 additional weight included. The additional weight is damaged. There is a layer that has been removed approximately half way around. This weight is marked 100 on the top, it weighs 99.3 grams. The included weights are not marked. They weigh 61.9, 30.9, 15.4, 7.8, and, 3.9 grams. The slider on the arm is marked 120 crn or 7 8/10 grams. The scale needs to be calibrated. TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE IT IS COMPLETE AND WORKING PROPERLY. in good condition( very good by my standards) but it does have a few moisture related issues in the finish. Slight rust on exterior, that I did not try to clean up. I will leave that to you. I didn't weigh anything on it but will and repost a revision to that extent when I find my weights.

The Torsion Balance company was established on September 7. 1897. The Corporation had its principal place of business at 92 Reade Street, New York, NY, and a plant in Jersey City, NJ until May of 1949 when both the New York office and the Jersey City plant were moved to New Jersey as part of a new factory which was erected in Clifton. The company has continuously manufactured and sold Torsion Balances. The principal markets for the Torsion Balances were retail druggists, who used them in compounding prescriptions, and users who needed a precision weighing device that could be used under the adverse conditions. Antique Vintage General Store Spring Balance Meat Scale Up for auction is an antique Morton’s Improved spring balance meat scale such as would have been used in a General Store. On the face of the scale it says. Warranted New York 1871. The scale hand does move freely when weight is applied but it does return to zero. As is shown in the photos. The front appears to be white porcelain with three of the corners chipped off and at some point has been re-touched with paint. The back of the scale has been repainted at some point in time also. The scale. Not counting the hooks, is 10 ¾ inches long and the dial measures 5 ¼ inches across. This would make an excellent decorative item to hang a plant from or an antique basket in your kitchen. This is an early scale. Approx 12" long without the hooks and 5 3/4 at its widest point. It reads at the top, APPROVED TYPE 33 SERIAL H NEW YORK CITY" Also reads"Trade Mark" The scale reads at the bottom, Each 20 lb. is marked on the slide. The intermediate weights on the circle" Also reads WARRANTED NEW YORK. The scale still seems to be in good working condition with good tension on the spring. The dial moves freely but I don't think they move correctly. This item shows cosmetic wear including discoloration found, overall wear found to the faceplate, staining found, scratches found, surface rust found throughout. Rivets all ... moregood. Iron hook and holder with brass face plate. This was found at an Estate Sale and the family indicated it was calibrated by the round marking top left. Please see pics for condition. This is a vintage Fairbanks. Morse and Co. 1 pound balance scale. It was made in Chicago Illinois U.S.A. Its code is 557 SPEC, its capacity is 35 lbs. Its serial number is G468289. The scale is still in great shape for its age, with a very mild fine rusting. It has a logo tag on it but its in alittle ruff shape and i cant really read it but with some research im lead to believe it says Soiltest Inc. but im not 100% sure.
