Up for auction is an awesome set of(4) very large 19th century fixed antique cast iron casters. These are extremely heavy duty and weigh just under 11lbs each! The wheels measure approx. 5 3/4" and stand approx. 8" tall overall. The base measures approx. 5" x 4 3/4" with drilled mounting holes that measure 3 5/8" and 4" center to center. The wheels move freely and are covered in surface rust. I have left them exactly as found not knowing if someone wants the aged patina. They need a good cleaning and grease. The only defect I can find is a small chip in one of the wheels.see the photo) I'm not sure if it's an old chip or defect in the casting. Two of the wheels appear as though the holes weren't drilled through after the casting. The wheels are the largest I've seen and with a weight of almost ... more11 lbs. each. This sand cast pattern was used in a foundry to form a sand cast mold. Which would then be cast in iron to form the wheels for ore carts in the mines. It comes from the history-rich mining area near Angels Camp and Jacksonville, CA. This area was an integral part of the 1840's Gold Rush period which was launched with the discovery of gold at Sutter's Mill, and numerous foundries were there to take care of supplying the mines. One was the Miner's Foundry in Nevada City, CA(1850's) and another was the Knight Foundry in Sutter's Creek(1872) I cannot verify which foundry this came from, but since it is directly from the area, it has a great history, and is certainly a super mining collector's ... morepiece. For your consideration is a Beautiful Antique Industrial chic Railroad/Factory Cart Coffee Table with a Glass Top! The cart has been lovingly restored as you can see in the pictures. And all the cast iron pieces have a wonderful hue to them, not painted, just scrubbed and sealed with a quality poly, which the glass top allows you to really see in every day use! The wheels are a bit dirty from being rolled around. But a bit of a scrub with a scotch-bright pad and they'll be clean again. It measures 26" by 54" wide and 14" in height. The two smaller wheels are almost level, but could benefit from having a small rubber or felt pad put under them to make them perfectly level. One of the smaller wheels has a few chips out of the iron, but it doesn't detract from the overall appearance. As you can see. ANTIQUE Copper Insert Coal Shuttle Bin Ice Box Cast Iron Lid Train Porter's Cart
Copper Bin Up for auction is a wonderful old copper bin with a heavy cast iron lid. The lid has a hook on the back that some utencil would have hung from and the discussions that have been had about what on earth this originally went to have been plentiful. Suggestions range from a coal shuttle where the hook would have held a hand broom. An ice insert from an old oak ice box where the hook would have been for a copper ice scoop. It was originally sold to me as an insert from a porters cart on a train where the table or crumb brush would have hung from the back and the cart would be pushed along the tables in the dining cart and the debris from the tables swept into the porters cart. Whatever it is, it is AWESOME! It measures 14" tall, 14" across and 13" deep.all measurements include the cast iron lip which is about 3/8's ... moreof an inch. I just love this piece! Obviously, some dents, rust on the cast iron, etc. I gave it a quick clean up with the old salt, flour and vinegar trick but you can polish to the degree of shine you desire! Antique Pair of Baby Buggy or Cart Wheels -Wood Metal & Rubber-14 inch Diameter
Here you have a pair of antique/vintage buggy wheels that are 14 inches in diameter and about 3/4 of an inch wide not including the metal hub. The spokes are wooden and the tires are rubber with the rubber being in good condition. The hubs are metal and hold the spokes nice and tight. The one wheel is in good condition while the other wheel has a broken spoke and a few cracked spokes(see pictures) The wood spokes look like they have had a couple of coats of paint of orange and maroon that give these wheels a nice vintage/rustic look. There is also a parasol holder with a screw to hold it in place. Dimensions are about 40" long for the carriage with the foot rest extended and 36” with the foot rest folded back x 19" wide carriage and 24” wheel to wheel width x 36-3/4" tall(including handle) All four wheels have a diameter is 14” It weighs about 30 pounds. This buggy is in original condition with the exception of the newer upholstered side cushions. Those cushions need some attention as they are a bit loose fitting. The wicker is quite good with only a few broken reeds in the woven bottom seat along with some minor surface soiling. A slight warp to the foot rest can be seen in the photo above. Please check all photos carefully. And let me know if you want more. There is also surface oxidation and rust on the metal parts and paint loss on the handle. Antique RAILROAD/ FACTORY CART CAST IRON CASTERS, 8” Wheels, Set of 4 These heavy duty cast iron casters were reclaimed from an old factory cart that was used in an industrial plant in central Arkansas. They have a nice patina from their age. Which is estimated at mid-20 th century. These casters were manufactured by Bond Caster in Manheim. PA and possess the Bond maker’s mark. They also have the number 2733. There are two swivel casters and two rigid casters. The entire assembly is approximately 10” long. The wheels are 8” in diameter and are 2” wide. The top plate is 4 ¾” wide x 6 ½” long. These casters are great for using in primitive furniture projects such as coffee tables and flower carts. These casters are very heavy. Only one swivel assembly fits in a large flat rate USPS box; one rigid assembly fits in a medium flat ... morerate USPS box. Consequently. Four separate packages will be used for shipping. This beautiful piece is 3 1/2 inches tall. 7 inches long. Very old looking.I'm not a expert but this piece is a very rare find.most have been painted. Found at an estate sale in Up State N.Y. Cart& hardware has been cleaned of all dirt and grease then sanded carefully to keep the character of the piece. Selling off all my old collectibles and stuff. Up for auction are two large steel wheels. These wheels are made by French& Hecht. They are 3' in diameter and I'm told they are from a two wheel fire extinguisher cart. Possibly an Ajax or similar in the early 1900's. When I originally bought them years ago the old guy said he had the cart but actually didn't have anything but the wheels. I'm not sure what these are from I am just passing on the information that he told me. There is a picture of a serial number on the hub, maybe this will help identify the age and use. Up for sale is this vintage industrial rolling factory shelving cart on casters. It measures 63 3/4" long by 24 1/2" wide and 58 1/4" tall. This cart is in as found condition with rust and wear from age as pictured that gives this piece lots of character and a great look. There are a few dents and dings on the shelves but the cart is very solid and built to last.
