It appears to have the original paint because the 5 and C on on the surface of the paint. There is some rust and lots of chips to the paint. But it is solid and works. When the wheel is loosened. There is some back and forth give to the right leg, but you have to try to get it to move. This could be tighted. But the nuts under the base are a bit rusty. The screw shaft is complete and it turns easily and smoothly. MEASUREMENTS The Plate: 10 2/16 x 15 5/16 inches. Antique 1800's Cast Iron Book Binding Nipping Copy Press Collectible Nice Detail
You are bidding on an Exceptional antique Book Binding Press. Copy Press or"nipping press. In cast iron with some of the original ornate decorative gold and green paint intact. This model appears to be rare in size and style. This press has not been re-touched- what you see is the original condition. We barely dusted with a soft cloth to help show detail. The top plate measures 10 1/4" x 13 1/16" The bottom pressing area is 13 5/8" x 15 1/2" The press opening is 2 5/8" It is in excellent working condition. And there is no structural damage. The hand crank turns smoothly and easily- the plate presses extremely tight. There is some surface chipping to the paint and on the inner surface between plates- as seen in the photographs. The brass nut on top of the hand crank does not appear original& one of the guide ... moretabs is missing from the top plate. This does not affect the smooth openining and closing of the press. Nor does it affect the tightness of it's closure. I am not an expert in book binding equipment, but am happy to answer questions. This great machine needs a wonderful loving home! The most I can tell you is the following This cool press looks to be converted into a vulcanizer for making rubber molds.But. I can not be positive. It has a manufacturer name of Howe Trademark in red as pictured.faded. But still legible. This press weighs a hefty 82 pounds! The press has aluminum plates that are attached to the under side. When plugged in and the dial is turned, the plates begin to warm up. At about 3 minutes after turning the device on. Offered without reserve is a vintage Sterling Cast Iron Corner Rounder from an estate. The machine is made from cast iron. It has a large brass tag on the side that reads; The Sterling Patented Aug. 1, 1899 and Mar. 19, 1901, Southworth Bros. Portland ME. When the lever is depressed it lowers a round"foot" that holds the work in place, when the lever is depressed further it engages the curved blade. The press mechanism works very smoothly, I think this machine can be put into service and would last another 100 years, it is Very well made. The rounded blade pressed into a thin slat of wood that slides into a tray at the bottom, the blade can easily be removed by loosening one screw for sharpening. The blade feels sharp, it cuts a radius that is approx. 3/8 or 1/2" It stands approx. 18" tall, the base measures approx. 11" ... morefront to back and it is approx. 10" wide across the front. I have not put it onto a scale yet but I think it weights about 20 or 25 lb. The wheel has six spokes and appears hand cast. Antique/Vintage Cast Iron Book Binding Press Industrial Steam Punk Flower Reno
This is a cast iron book press. I'm not sure of the age. But it's an oldie. It's 18 1/2" long x 10 1/4" wide x 11 1/2" tall. It doesn't have the bottom plate. But it still can be attached to your workbench with long bolts. A bottom plate can easily be made out of a plank of wood, or a piece of metal with machined holes. There is some rust on the bottom of the plate. A small piece of metal has broken off the bottom of one of the vertical arms, and there is a small crack on the bottom of the other one.

BLACK CAST IRON ANTIQUE BOOK PRESS This is a late 1800's Book Press. It is in excellent working order. And is in excellent shape for its age. These pieces are quickly being picked up for display pieces and accent pieces throughout homes. It has been well-maintained. And has much of its black paint intact. There is a Large G makers mark stamped on the center of the neck. This item measures 20" wide, 18" deep and 13" tall approximately. Solid cast iron this was made to last and weighs 56 lbs. This would make a wonderful working press for a book dealer or decoration for an interior designer. Picked up at a local book shop that was in business for the last 58 yrs. It's been taken care of. This press is a larger model. With the Top Press Plate measuring 10" x 15" The outer measurements of the press: 20"L x 11-3/8"W The hand wheel in the open position measures 17-1/4" H. Antique cast iron book press. Book press has a base plate that measures 14.5" x 10.75" The press opens up to a height of 3.25" and total weight is 88 pounds. The threaded spindle works with ease. The press could probably use a good cleaning but is in overall very good 100% working condition with some very minor surface rust. I do not see a manufacturers name. My son made a sturdy wooden crate for shipping that weighs 20 pounds. Total weight in crate will be 108 pounds. Thank goodness UPS will pick package up at my home but if you live in the midwest and want to pick this item up that is A-OK with me. If delivered and not picked up you will have to remove some screws to remove top. The press crate was made so the press fits very snug which means the press will not move during shipment.

This is a heavy antique book press(weighs 45 ponds) There is no name but there is the letter"G" It is in cast iron. I love the wheel. I have owned this for many years and my grandchildren would pretend they were driving a car but now they are all big so I decided to sell it. because I live in Canada I found out that it will cost me $100 to ship to the U.S.A. I have to package the item in a strong box) but if it costs less. I will refund you the difference. The measurements are the widest part is 17.5" the wheel is 9" across. the height is 9" when turned all the way down but can expand quite a bit. Vintage Industrial Antique Cast Iron Book Press Frame Binding Printing
This vintage book press frame is constructed of heavy duty cast iron and with the addition of a base would make a gorgeous antique book press for covering books or even a rustic discussion piece. The turning wheel is 16" in diameter and its corresponding press is 4 1/2" in diameter. There is 9" of variance in the press that measures 22" x 6" x 12" tall at its lowest configuration. There are two bolts complete with screws on each end of the frame and there are 4 mounting holes on the press. This is a vintage item that is worn but in good condition as pictured. Great antique hand made and ornate cast iron 1860's Book Binding Press
You are looking at a great antique hand made and ornate cast iron 1860's Book Binding Press. The press weighs approximately 50 pounds and the overall length is 13" long 12" wide and 13" tall if closed. The plate does not freely move up and down and there is some damage to one of the stands(but all screw holes are intact) The grey and yellow paint seems to be original. There is some oxidation that could be removed by sandblasting the press.it would look amazing if restored. Especially since the ornaments are rare on such presses. The press is listed as pick-up only because of the weight. Please let us know if you would like a shipping quote.

Be sure to add me to your! This ANTIQUE CAST IRON BOOK PRESS was manufactured by the N. McK. Wilson Co. The book press is mounted on an unpainted heavy wood base 1 1/4 inches thick by 8 1/2 by 12 1/2. The cast iron press is painted blue which is quite worn. Two support posts on each side support a crosspiece with the company name embossed on it. The crosspiece in turn supports the large metal screw with turn wheel on top which raise and lower the press plate attachment. This is operational and can be raised 12 inches above the base. The top turn wheel is 5 inches in diameter with an interior three circle design to aid turning. The metal or wood press plate is missing. The metal base of the press is 11 1/2 by 7 1/2 inches. With 8 inches between the two side support posts. The book press with base stands 20 inches high. Antique book press 1880s-early 1900s The base is 13 1/4"x 11" Book plate is 12 1/4"x 10" 13" high with the wheel 9" in diameter. Approx. 75 pounds Gold painted"12" on the center post on one side. E" on the other side, with decorative embellishing on both sides of the letter/number on the arms. Needs to be cleaned as it has accumulated dust/dirt buildup. I would not know where to begin to pick a solvent that wouldn't jeopardize the original paint- probably easy, just not my department, but I know enough not to ruin an original trying. Has flaking paint on the base& plate, on the arms and posts, paint is dirty but good condition. Weighs a ton.
