Not really sure what time period this is from- could be the 40's-50's. Your guess is as good as mine. It does have wear. Mostly rust which I've shown in my pictures. There are some nicks in the paper where you would read how much the egg weighs and the size category the egg falls into. None of this affects reading everything that is there though. It does appear to work just fine. May have to be calibrated again though if you were going to use it for weighing eggs. It appears all the parts are included. It is green in color with black. Antique Egg Grading Scale -Jiffy-Way by Cyclone Mfg. Urbana, Indiana -1940-1950
This colorful egg scale. Manufactured by the Cyclone Mfg. Co. between 1940 and 1950, graded the size of eggs for retail sales. For use by poultry farmers and small country stores, the grading was done by hand on a red-painted metal scale that designated small, medium, large and extra-large eggs. The charming scale was made by Cyclone in Urbana. Indiana, but the trademark was registered by Jiffy-Way Products of Mineapolis, Minn. The graphics on the base of the scale, which measures 8 inches long, 5&1/2 inches high and 3 inches wide, features the"Cyclone" logo flanked by two tiny, yellow chicks. This antique scale is in fair condition. Still colorful. Jiffy Way Egg Scale. 1930's Classic Green Model This egg scale was invented by Benjamin Zimmer and patented on April 8. 1938 as U.S. Patent 2205917. It is the basis of this design which was produced as the Jiffy Way Egg Scale. The scale appears to operate satisfactorily and as shown in the pictures correctly weighed a Grade A Large egg. However I would not feel comfortable certifying that it is accurate without careful measurement and calibration. It is being sold therefore"as is" The dimensions of the scale are 5.5 inches high. 8 inches long and 3 inches deep. The scale itself weighs 15.3 ounces. The metals out of which it was fabricated are very durable. The base and structure was coated with a green paint and the weighing mechanism is unpainted. The scale is in fair condition. Given it is over 70 years old. The painted areas ... morecolor is still readable. The unpainted areas show the oxidizing effects due to age. The leveling device is missing. But you could use an s hook. There is quite a bit of rust but it is still solid. There are no damaged or bent parts that I could see. Please look at all Pictures as they are part of the description. Co. of Quincy, Illinois, it features a base and infrastructure made of steel. It’s well made and is typical of those used on small poultry farms during the 1920s and later. In working order with all parts, including the counter balance weight. Unique to this type of scale is the cotter like pin used to indicate level. Patent number on label is for 1939.
