This is a very nice vintage Universal headrest for a barber chair. Marked with Pat. Oct 5. 1909; Universal. The headrest piece is nicely cushioned in green marbled vinyl and rests on 6 coiled springs. The cushion itself measures approx. 1/2" thick and about 7" x 4 1/4" The cushion is starting to tear away from the coils at all four corners. The steel bar measures 9 1/4" The bar is approx. 1/4" thick and 1 1/4" wide. No breaks cracks or repairs. Some pitting and a little rust but looks like everything works. Oct 5. 1909 and Aug 23, 1910; Universal' The headrest piece is nicely cushioned in red/black speckled vinyl and rests on 6 coiled springs. End looks a little rough seen in pictur e 11. Brown leather is good with no rips. Buckey part bent on ends some and missing screw. Vintage Koken Barber Chair Porcelain Arms. Base, Trim& Handle- The Porcelain is in Amazingly Good Condition. One chip found on the underside of the handle. The Handle is used to lock or unlock the chair from spinning. It works perfectly. Head Rest- Twin Prongs. Push Button Release, Rollers. Decorative Sides and Koken name on Mounting Hardware(very nice) Foot Rest- Double Plates w/ Original Brackets. Flips up and down one side sho wing the green upholstery. The other Metal. Stylish Design w/ Koken Name on Both Sections(need to be cleaned and and polished) Cool Vintage Leather Sharpening Strop- Reads: Broncho with a picture of a Cowboy on a Horse- not a vital part of the chair. But still a cool bonus) Condition Issues: The original upholstery(the green leather) is shot. There are two major tears. The section located on the back of chair ... moredry and cracked, it looks better in the picture. Than it really is. but, The seat and headrest were re-upholstered. In white and look good. The porcelain handle has a decent sized chip. at least 1" long) fortunately it is on the underside and cant be seen. The handle seems to stick out at a strange angle. Im not sure why. I tested it and it is firmly attached, and it works perfectly, but something just does not look right(see pictures) That being said, This Chair is in Excellent Condition. It could be completely restored in one weekend. Loaded with bells and whistles. All in good working c ondition. If Ive left out important details. Antique Carved Oak &Ornate Brass Barber Chair 1880's Reclines w/ Headrest/ Suede
Antique Ornate Hand Carved Oak With Ornate Brass Foot Rest. Barber Chair from circa 1880's. Chair is in very good working order. It sits 45" tall by 25 1/2" in width from handle to handle. Reclines to 56" has Headrest that is 7" wide by 3 1/2" tall, with Brass metalwork, which works good too. Gorgeous Ornate Brass foot plate is 16 1/2" wide by 7 1/2" deep. Attached to the back neck rest are two beautiful antique razor strops. The back rest of the seat and armrests are covered in the original brown suede with heavy upholstery brads. The seat itself had to be reupholstered due to staining, and it matches quite well. The chair has solid oak bottom, side panels and framework, with ornate hand carvings. I was told by an Antique Dealer that this is a Koken chair, but I am unable to find any markings to confirm ... morethat. I purchased this at an Estate auction some 20 years ago, and had it in my Hair Salon all these years, strictly for ambiance. It's a gorgeous chair, that I no longer have use for. Wood tracking is worn inside backrest and some of the leather worn and torn, parts all need restored/ rechromed. Some screws missing. Buckeye towel dispenser has some small bends on corners and one tab is broke off, useable and repairable. Side trim on backrest is broke or split, other side is ok. Push button headrest assembly is good, cover Part(PBB) has small crack from it being misaligned over years seen in picture 11, picture 12 shows worn wood tracking. Headrest adjustable bar was said to possibly be shortened or broke in last listing but it is factory and original length of the backrest track. Vintage/ Antique Emil J. Paidar Barber Chair I believe this chair is from the 1930s. It does have the original headrest. I do think it was reupholstered with the blue. It has the original green porcelain base and original green porcelain hand rest. Hydraulics still work to go back and forth. I do not see and up and down lever on this one. Also has the original cast iron foot rest. There is a very small crack in the foot rest. With a little spit shine this chair could look good and new. It is hard to find them with the hydraulics working and with the head rest! Local Pickup or Shipping at buyers expense and arrangements! This is an as-is sale. I am not an expert. 1911 Koken Barber Chair/Vintage/Antique/Very Good Condition With Headrest
I am listing this item for friends. The owner has had it for a year and is downsizing. It is a 1911 Authentic Koken Barber Chair. The only two things that I see that are wrong are. The hydraulics do not work, can be fixed easily) and there is some damage to the chrome ring on the bottom, see pictures. Neither of these things affect the display quality. It is beautiful! No missing parts that I can see and it does include the headrest and footrest. Great item for collector. The pictures tell the story. All the porcelain is in very good condition.a little dusty but no chips and or cracks! There is a cast iron base. Unfortunately during shipping it came loose and is wedged under the chair and 1 piece broke off. The 1 piece is still attached and I have the other piece that came loose. Either repair it or replace it with another foot rest. Aside from that. This is a great collectors piece and would look great in a Tattoo Shop, Barber Shop or Mancave! I do not know if the material is original or it if was re-upholstered. Either was the material is in good condition with a few small spots from general use. Early hydraulic lift and spin Theo A Kochs barber chair. Porcelain is in great condition! Flaws include detached and broken foot rest. Rips on upper part of back rest. Headrest in good condition but needs TLC. Hydraulics worked great a year ago. Fluid was drained when we moved it to a new facility. As seen in pics.
