Location: Redlands, United States Primitive Industrial Antique Factory Found Wood Press Great Book or Flower Press So. I'm working my way through an upopened/unlisted box of items ... morefrom Ohio, where I met a fellow who buys strictly factory demolition items. Wow, did he have some cool stuff. This piece was one of they many items that I purchased. It is clearly an old press of some sort- not sure exactly what sort, but I could see you using it as a book press, a flower press, or, what the heck, just to keep on the porch to keep your newspapers from flying away in the wind when reading them! Made of solid wood, it has a black finished handle that has a ribbed iron hardware piece on the end- almost as if it used to fit into something, The wood has a beveled edge on the top along the perimeter- with the bevels varying depending upon the side. The white spot that you see in photos 6& 7 on the handle is remnants of his price tag- it needs to be removed(along with a long piece of cellophane tape wrapped around the handle holding it) and cleaned- I do not clean my items, I leave them as found, and this one is dusty/lightly dirty. It weighs 2 lbs and measures 12" by 8 1/2" at the press and stands 7" tall to the top of the handle. It is in excellent solid and sturdy condition, the patina is very dark, and there's lots of wear to both the finish and wood- scratches, scrapes, small chips and nicks, dark spots, light spots, nibbles- you name it, all minor, and more on the bottom of the press then anywhere where you can see evidence of its former use. All that being said, I wouldn't change a thing- it's perfectly primitive and it has a story to tell! Please ask if you have any questions. I find no copies currently listed online. With stiff card covers with an attached slate-blue wrap-around cover. Printed on fine quality paper with feathered edges, 30 pages. Some rather mild spotting/ staining to covers, and a stain(coffee drop? to edge of title page that affects only the title page and the edges of the two adjacent pages. Overall very good. The CH insignia above the imprint does not scan well for some reason(second picture) but shows clearly in person. The subject matter of the poetry itself does not appear to be Western in nature.
