Here is a great old. Super heavy duty cast iron hat stretcher. It has a derby shape but can be used for any type of hat including fitted baseball hats. This will fit any size hat form circumference 20.5" size 6) to circumference 26.5" which is off the chart at about size 10. The main body of the machine is heavy cast iron and the base is copper. This is great because it has reverse threads- when you rotate the crank clockwise, a standard thread like on a vise, would draw the jaws close. I do not know for sure how old this hat stretcher is. Wonderful old primitive HOWEVER I just noticed that the threads are only good on one side of the screw mechanism. It does still screw open but only to 8 inches. So you could still use this but it is more of a decorative item.Varnish to outside is worn showing it was a working item and imagine a lot of hats were once on this old piece. The turn piece on the inside has a rubber grip ring that has some surface cracks from age. Item opens well but needs a little help to close all the way. Does come back together tightly. Size 6 5/8. No factory name or mark.just the size. When closed it measures 6 3/4 X 6 inches. Please ask questions before bidding. Photos are part of description. Up for auction is a nice old wooden hat stretcher. Primitive hat stretcher. Both useful and decorative is in very good antique condition, nice worn surface from use and age. Turning the center iron hand grip opens/closes the stretcher and it works great. It is made from a very hard wood with rich warm color and a beautiful grain. One side has an impressed mark 7 3/8. This auction is for a working Garve Electric Hat Stretcher with the rare paper guarantee and instructions right on the bottom. It not only gave you a one year warranty(no longer applicable) It gives you instructions for replacement of the heating units(Please enlarge the attached close up picture I have provided) With these instructions, the unit can be taken apart for other repairs as well. I have seen a lot of hat stretchers out there; however, none with this paper still in place. It has an electric cloth covered cord with a bakelite Leviton switch plug so you can turn it on and off easily. The machine measures 14" long, 12" high and 6 3/4" deep. It works great and will stretch hats from a size 6 1/4 or 19.5" 49.53 cm) to a size 8 or 26" 66.04 cm) It uses a regular 110 voltage with an American plug. It has its original ... moregreen paint on the base of the machine which is mounted to a thick board with the metal size plate and the size pointer. The aluminum top has a heavy steel handle and stretch spring on the side. Flaws: Works great! A tad bit of the green paint has worn away in places. There is a 1 1/2" X 1 1/4" dent in the aluminum top back(could be straightened since it comes apart with one nut and 2 flat tip screws) There is some inside surface rust on the inside under the aluminum which you can see in the third picture. This does not interfere with the operation of the machine, but is mentioned for accuracy. There are old chips at each corner of the wood base and the plug cord has lightened in color in some places. There is some overall wear commensurate to its age and usage. This item is very heavy and cannot be combined with other items. It weighs 17 pounds 2 ounces(7.82 kgs) packaged. This hat stretcher has a steel circular adjustable band, a steel sizer plate with impressed sizes from 19" to 24 3/4" to the left of the 19 mark impressed is OSBORN BROS. ... moreCHICAGO, and above the 1/2 and 3/4 marks after the 24 is PAT. PENDG. The stretcher is adjusted by a screw and wing nut that allows for loosening and tightening the brass scissors. The screw that was originally on the brass scissors was so corroded and rusted that it would not loosen or tighten, so with that the screw has been replaced but still has the original wing nut. I'm sure at some point if this is going to be used to stretch hats, it will more than likely need to have the wing nut replaced. If won, I will include the original screw in the package. This antique hat stretcher is in what I would say great condition for its age. It shows normal signs of age and wear such as patina, and some stress cracks on the brass scissor handles(not through and through cracks) This antique stretcher is being SOLD AS-IS. These would be used to stretch the block tight to the hat. It is in"as found" condition and has not been restored or repaired by us. The block has a lovely depth of colour and a patina that only comes with age and years of use. There are the usual marks. This auction is for a nice vintage wooded hat stretcher. It has a nice metal turn handle in the center and a steel lead screw. There are 2 solid brass measuring rules in the middle(see pics) There is a number“3” stamped on the wood. The wood is solid and in nice condition. Closed it measures about 7-3/16” x 6-3/16” x 2-3/16” It weighs just over 1lb 8 oz. This is a fully functional piece and can be used or displayed.

The stretcher stands 14" high(36cms) and carries it's original sizing guide. Which enables the block to fit and measure hats of a large size range. This particular example ranges from hats size 6 1/4 up to 7 7/8 and adjusts from minimum circumference of 20 inches(51cms) upto 25 1/8 inches(64cms) As well as hat sizes, the guide is also marked in inches and centimetres for the continental market. The turn-screw operates smoothly and it is quite clean overall. This one does not appear to have the heating element installed. The piece measures just about 12" high. 16" wide(closed) and 6-1/2" deep. It weighs just about 20 lbs. Brass plate converts circumference measurements to hat sizes. Early 1900's european cast iron mechanical antique hat stretcher
A wonderful original very heavy antique cast iron and steel mechanical hat stretcher. Left as it was found in an old department store in Belgium. I can't find any makers name but I suppose it is of European origin. The silver finish has worn in places as you can see in the pictures. The metal frame on which the hat mold slides along is rusty. still 100% sturdy) Of course it will look great restored but it also has lots of charm as it is. This kind of stretcher was pre heated with a small blowtorch or steam.Later on they were electrically heated. It weighs around 8 kilos. But different in little ways. It is really neat. 13" tall. Closed it is tapered one end is 6" wide and one is 7 1/2" wide. Opens to 8" and 9" Inside some of the screws are loose. Vintage Mercantile, Millinery Wood and Metal Hat Stretcher -Shows Measurements
A vintage hat stretcher is up for your consideration. The stretcher is made of a hard wood. And has a metal handle for opening and closing. It is marked 6-3/4 on the one end. From the bottom, it does measure 6-3/4" by 6" and it opens out to about 8-1/2" The side metal bars in the wood sections do have measurements on them as seen in pictures 5 and 6. It is in good working order, has some scratches and wear but a beautiful patina. Thank you for looking.

I only had two of these. This is the last one up for auction! Domke& Ulm Hat stretcher made by Domke& Ulm manufacturing company Chicago Ill. This machine works as intended. The on light is magnificent when lit! I tested the machine and it heats up(both halves) the crank also turns smoothly. The machine is in great shape and looks to be all original. This auction is for a vintage milliner tool- wooden hat stretcher. Mostly wood with the inner pins on each side being the only noticeable metal. Center turnbuckle is wood with wooden threaded screws on each end of the inner turning device The only marking that I have found is 6 7/8 Used in the making and stretching of hats- most commonly used in association with cowboy hats in the current times. This particular item is made even more interesting by the knot of the wood along one edge- creating a gap. But still completely usable. This is an estate sale find Overall light soiling and patina present. I have not attempted to wash or clean this item. Some chipping and nicks to edges. Antique Wood Hat Stretcher 6 3/4 Metal Extending Handle Millinery Block Form
Hello and thanks for looking at our auctions this week.offered this evening is an antique hat stretcher- size 6 3/4. This piece was manufactured during the early part of the 20th century and is made of wood with a metal adjusting handle in the center. This piece measures approximately 6 3/4" across at the bottom when closed and 8 1/4" across when the metal adjusting handle is extended all the way out. Size"6 3/4" is stamped into the wood on the bottom side. The piece has no other markings. Obviously. With this piece being approximately 100 years old there will be some wear to to wood.
