There are some that don't. I think this machine has not been used in quite a while and could use a cleaning. Cosmetically. It is a beautiful unit with only light wear marks. The keys are bright with strong lettering. It looks complete and ready to restore. I could not find another of this model on Ebay selling OR sold in the past 6 months. Measures 10" wide x 11 1/2" deep x 8" tall. Weighs about 210 lbs. Very clean exterior. Cord is still in excellent shape. Gold lettering is very strong. Thank you for looking! Andrew

This auction is for a vintage Burroughs adding machine made in Detroit. MI. All the keys can be pressed, but I couldn't do anything to make the rods strike the printer ribbon, so I don't believe this is in working order. Two of the keys show burn marks. The machine measures about 13" x 11 1/2" x 8 1/4" and weighs 20 pounds. Due to its condition and weight, this item is being sold as is and without a return option. Please see below for pictures.

Antique Burroughs Hand Operated Office Adding Machine # A946903
This rare antique Burroughs Hand Opearted Adding Machine with Visible Printing has been in storage for over 65 years. Dating from the time the restaruant user closed his business. At the base in the center to the right of the name Burroughs is a small# A946903. If my internet research is correct, then this is an A model, and the numbers were assigned in order of production. 946903 according to company records was manufactured between 4/1924 and 7/1925. The caveat was that the machines were not always sold within that time frame. The machine is approximately 13 x 9 x 8 inches and weighs 21-22 lbs.All levers and buttons are in excellent working condition, and the printer appears to be working as well, since Photo 3 has the numbers I entered. I did not attempt to do any computations. Please note: Photo 4 shows to the right of the two white buttons ... morean oblong button at the base of the manual lever, slightly off the keyboard. I believe this is a"minus" operation key or tab. I believe originally(before 1920) this function came as a lever to the bottom right of the machine.Photo 3 shows the spool for the ribbon and the printing area. The machine is a dark dark brown and the kety plate is the same color but a dufferent finish. Photo 2 shows the 8 key system and that the keys are all present and in excellent condition. 1908 Burroughs No.9 class 7 adding machine (working)
Other than the two cracks in the glass this Burroughs no. 9 seems to be in very good condition. The felt on top has been replaced before I purchased it an as close as we can judge it is a style 7. The bell rings an the type set preforms with no problems.The wooden top is seperating on the ends an there is 2 key tops missing on top. I hope I hold up as well if I make it to that age. I think I have covered everything I noticed but I am not an antque expert or not in the antque business at all. I picked this up at a yard sale. I was up north w/ 5 danes and 1 evening we went to the antigo history museum in an old carnegie library building. i spent my time exploring the place + taking photos of all the stuff they had + in the front area they had several adding machines like this one, but nicer. besides the dust, a lot of the black coating has worn off. i tried taking the cover off, but something was keeping it on. the crank can be taken off easy tho. oh yeah, i wanted to clean the windows. maybe you can figure out how. the crank clears the#s you add with the main button on the top. i guess this was sort of a business thing for penny purchases. buy 5 7¢ items + hit the(5)7 button. i imagine the innards are cool looking IF you can get in it. heavy.

Here is a Vintage Burroughs Portable adding machine in great condition. Comes with a cover and manual both from the same manufacturer as well as a inked ribbon and paper roll. It could use a cleaning underneath the keys and the cover is rather dirty. But other than that it shows very little sign of use. In fact the ribbon still has ink and I was able to run through some number sequences as shown on the final photo. The number 8-1201307 is stamped below the key pad. All keys move nicely as well as the handle which engages the keys to print on the ribbon. I do not know enough about this machine to fully test the adding process yet. So I'm assuming these are also. They have been trimmed. They are not perfect. But the color and artwork is so nice. I think you may be willi ng to overlo ok imperfections. The adding machin e ad is in the best condition with good color and only small water mark at the bottom edge. The Calculator one has some foxi ng and discolor ation but still nice graphics. see my other vintage advertising auctions. This will ship carefully with more cardboard so it won't bend.

For sale here is a Burroughs Model 6 327534 which should make it about 1916 manufacture date. Last patent date on the motor is 1909. In original unrestored condition. Looks like most of the buttons are still there and has the key for taking the plate glass covers off. Glass is good. Carriage parts have minor corrosion and looks like it would clean up nicely. WD 40 will take the old oil residue off. These got oiled on a regular basis by Burroughs service guys. Strongly advise local pickup but will ship.Will sell plate glass cover assembly. Up for sale is this Antique Winn& Lovett Grocery Burroughs Model Adding Machine. This machine measures approximately 13 1/2" long and 8 1/2" tall. This machine is a true piece of history being that it was used prior to the merge of The Dixie Home Store and Winn& Lovett Grocery. Becoming Winn-Dixie in 1955. This machine dates from between 1944 and 1955. The machine has wear, the paint is flaking off of beneath the keys, one of which is broken(please see pictures for further details) and the machine has some dirt and dust from sitting, as well as rust. This is a non-working machine. And could probably be opened up and repaired, but in order to keep from compromising this machine, we left it as-is. Antique Burroughs Glass-Sided Adding Machine, early 1900s
This is a very rustic. Very worn old Burroughs adding machine. There are a few keys missing, the ones that are still there are difficult to press, two of the three glass sides are missing, the back tray is slightly bent and the whole is in general disrepair. It was sitting and collecting dust for an unknown amount of time. HOWEVER. These are quite old(circa 1900 or so? I don't really know. and would make a neat project for a hobbyist machinist or somebody that is into worn, steampunk-related gadgetry. It is really neat looking. The machine is quite heavy. Antique/ 1900's Burroughs adding machine No 6-150204 computer/calculator
100 Year old Adding maching made by the famous Burrough's company.This is the model# 6 150204. I believe the manufacture date is between 1911 and 1915. This range of years is most collectable as the unit was made with a thick glass case so one could see the inner mechanisim of the adding machine do its thing. I believe it's missing some back piece. But the handle is in tact and the Burroughs marquee on the front glass is in great vontage shape. The side glass had a chip out of one side and the other side the glass looks to have slid out of place. The base of the machine has a 1 inch crack but due to the thickness of the metal it has kept the unit in tact for all these years. I do not know if this item technically works but it looks great on the shelf of my brother in laws real estate office in historic old New Castle. Antique Burroughs Portable Accountants Adding Machine. Pre-Calculator Era Wow! This antique adding machine still works. It was tested and is in great condition considering its age. There are only minor flaws(some rusty areas) but nothing major which is surprising. The photos can corroborate and can give you more details. There is a number engraved on the front above the Burroughs Portable lettering. It is number 8-1030482. The metal casing is black and green and the lever handle is wood. My husband was able to add on it and figure out how to clear so he could add a whole new set of numbers. It is so cool! It is 8 ¾” x 13 ½” with an 8 ½” height; it weighs 19 lbs. I found this information at the hpmuseum.org website: It had an 8 column full keyboard plus keys for total. Subtotal, non-add, repeat(for multiplication) and Error(cleared ... morethe keyboard. The machine does have its power cord but is untested so we're selling it as is. It does show signs of use. Age and wear. The machine has minimal rusting on the top and has been shown in the pictures. It measures about 13 inches long, 9 1/2 inches wide and 10 inches tall. It has a metal tag on the back that says it's direct alternating. This machine needs cleaned and is very heavy.
