Chest has very nice carved feet front and back with bowed top as well as bowed front. It measures approx 22" tall including swivel mirror. 12 1/4" wide at feet, and 9" deep at feet and has 2 small drawers at top and l larger drawer at bottom. Mirror is in fine condition. The small drawers each measure approx 5 3/8" x 4" x 2 1/2" deep. The one on the right has a smaller pull than the others but it appears to have been put on at the same time. Bottom drawer measures approx 9 3/8" x 8" x 3 3/8" deep. Bottom drawer has original lock(no key) and is lined with a silver color paper which appears to be very old. Period brass tear drop pulls and pin& cove(knapp joint) ends on the drawers. All the drawers have their locks intact but no key. The front of the chest has beautiful incised carvings on the drawers and wood escutcheons. This chest is good quality, solid, sturdy and would make a great addition to any Victorian Decor. Nut missing for finial on left top drawer pull. The Eastlake furniture style as envisioned by its namesake, Charles Lock Eastlake, came about in response to his dislike of the over-the-top Rococo and Renaissance Revival styles popular during the Victorian era. Although Eastlake furniture is technically considered Victorian, being ... morepopular from 1870-1890, it breaks away from the excessive high relief carving, classical elements and numerous curves of other styles produced during this timeframe. Antique Completely Restored Oak Hotel Washstand with Mirror Chest Dresser No Res
You are bidding on a hotel washstand that has been completely restored by a professional refinisher. It is in more or less perfect condition now. It is finished in a medium oak color with minwax provential stain. Finished with several coats of Sherwin Williams sand& sealer and two coats of Sherwin Williams top coat water proof lacquer. The entire piece of furniture has been sprayed and sealed good, including drawer bottoms, back and bottom of the piece. The solid brass has been cleaned and lightly polished with jewelers rough. The finish is hand-rubbed and it looks like it has just be waxed. The bevel mirror is original, has some distortation because of age. The towel bar including the bar itself is all original. The base comes apart from the towel bar and mirror for easy transport. As you can see the back looks just about as good as ... morethe front. Very nice Empire 5-drawer dresser or chest with burl walnut veneer. This piece is solid. Clean and tight. Drawers are made of single-board, poplar(the grain in some boards is curly) with hand-planed bottoms,and handmade dovetail joints, Each drawer has a pair of turned, solid wood knobs. Top pair of drawers are large and deep with beautifully crafted ogee faces. Drawers do not stick at all and operate smoothly. Overall dimensions of piece are 43 inches wide by 21-3/8 inches deep by 44-3/4 inches tall. There is a charred spot on the top where a kerosene lamp tipped over burned the wood. There are a few small knicks on the edge of the veneer and has been repaired on one drawer face(see photos) Local pick up only.

Description: This listing is for a Fine English Chippendale Two over Three Drawer Bachelors Chest. C. 1760-80. It is crafted of solid mahogany, using broad boards to construct the top and sides, each two board construction. An applied molded carved rim wraps around the perimeter of the top. Two smaller drawers rest over three wide graduated drawers, each with entirely original brasses and very early(possibly original) locks, being constructed of oak secondary woods hand dovetailed with a flat bottom beneath applied runners and nailed at the back with original rosehead nails. Each drawer features full length dustboards between each drawer to protect the contents of each drawer from dust and dirt as the drawer moves in and out ... moreof the case- it also supports each drawer, allowing for a smooth flowing motion in the case. The chest rests over four large bracket feet, each fully original with original blocking on all but one of the feet. The back is original as well, constructed of four pine boards lined with original hand forged rosehead nails. The secondary pine triangle supporting the back feet dovetails into the feet, making them permanent and also a rather unique detail of design. This is a remarkably well preserved chest. With originality in almost every facet of the case. It is incredibly dense and heavy, built to last the test of time- attention was shown in every detail of the construction, allowing this chest to survive and thrive two hundred and fifty years later. It is an outstanding acquisition for any collector of English Chippendale furniture and a treasure that will be enjoyed in your home for many generations to come. The original drawer locks are all in place and in excellent working order using the beautiful key I had made.The top of the dresser has incredible patina and some of the finest grain figuring you will see.The top is first class all the way. All of the drawers were totally rebuilt and slide like silk. The drawers feature the sought after dovetail joinery. I restored the finish all by hand using a custom rich stain to achieve the highlighted rich burgundy followed by many. Antique Marble Top Dresser Chest Beveled Mirror Oak
Being offered here is a vintage three drawer dresser with exquisite architectural lines and hardware. Please view pictures for details. We are not sure if the wood is walnut or oak. The overall height of this chest measures 66 ½" tall and overall 38 3/8" wide. The marble top measures 17 ½" deep and is 38 3/8" wide. The dresser is 17" deep and 36 ½" wide. The beveled glass on the mirror measures 29 ½" wide and 23 ½" tall. The wheels make this furniture stand 2" off of the floor. One of the knots in the wood on the backside has a whole in it. We did not notice any cracks in the wood on this chest. It has wonderfully old patina and the brass hardware is stunning on the burl finish of the dovetailed drawers. Gorgeous carved solid walnut Gentleman's 6 drawer dresser chest original finish
This is a beautiful example of a Gentleman's dresser or chest. Early Victorian era and style. The sides and front of the dresser are solid walnut, as are the dove-tailed drawer fronts. With the added beauty of burled walnut oval panels. The black and brass teardrop drawer pulls are old and not reproduction, but not original to the piece. There probably was either a tw o- post earlier brass handle or a carved pull. T he finish is original. It has two vanity boxes on top. And the dresser is finished off with a small wood pediment bet ween the vanity boxes. I estimate this chest to be from the 1880's. Which makes it one hundred and thirty years old. It has had very good care throughout its' life. And is in excellent condition, with just wear due to age and usage. The burl veneer is all intact. None missing-which is incredible for ... moreits' age! There is one slightly lighter ring on the top and a few scratches on the bottom panel. But nothing noticeable. There are four drawers-the two in the center are slightly less deep and the top and bottom ones are a little deeper. Due to the design of the chest. There are carved and turned supports up the front corners of each side. Ending in a spoon-carved small corbel on either side. This piece has more character than most of the Victorian dressers I've seen and was probably a high-end piece in its' day. There is a key that came with the dresser, that fits the locks-but, they won't turn, for the most part. So, it could be made to lock, but, at the moment, it won't. The brass locks are all there. The measurements are: 41 inches wide by 47 inches high by 17 inches deep. I am happy to take and send more photos. If you are interested. The dresser can be picked-up. These dressers have always been the Cadilac of Empire Dressers. But this one is one of the finest we have ever seen. The burled or Flame Mahogany is fantastic. The colors are just beautiful. We do not have the exact history. But the party we bought the dresser from, told us that this dresser was saved in Katrina from the Huricane in New Orleans. It was transported north and sold to raise money for the people who once owned it there. We bought it from the next party who purchased it. The dresser is of such fine quality, and has all original parts. The only thing it may need is some new screws in the back when the wig cabinets mount. At the moment it is all assembled and they were not needed. But when the ... moredresser comes to its new home, that is one addition we would suggest is new screws in the back area. The wood on every side is pristine on this piece. The only thing you would find is normal wear from a dresser of such a grand age. All that is needed is a nice polish and this piece is ready to set up and be displayed with pride. The dresser is 77" tall by 43" wide by 21" deep. The mirror attaches on each curio side with wooden screws and original knobs. The drawer fronts have the carving at the top and bottoms and the matched grain of the wood is outstanding. This piece could be by the famous cabinet maker Thomas Day. As even the sides of the dresser have fantastic matched graining. The hand made dove tails and brass locks, are all top notch and fine quality. The marble top inset is beautiful thick Italian Marble with nice grain and detail. There are no chips, nor cracks on the marble. It could use a polish from a marble professional. But the patina and wear only adds charactor to the piece. antique mahogany empire dresser chest miniature salesman sample childs Fresh from an estate and new to the market is this mahogany miniature dresser. Possible a salesman sample or apprentice piece. I believe it is empire style. It measures 8 1/2" wide by 8 3/3" high by 4" deep. drawers are all dovetailed by hand and square head nails used for the other parts. There is grooves on the top drawers where I believe there was a mirror at one time which has been long lost. It is missing one pull and I don't know if they are original. One leg is missing in the back. the piece does have a piece off of the front edge of the top. I believe it is the original finish with wear from the years. early empire mahogany chest dresser turned columns very early period piece
for sale a very early empire chest of drawers or dresser. made of mahogany. this piece is as old as dirt. the drawer bottoms and the back of the chest is all hand chamfered. the joints are all hand cut dovetails. what few nails were used to stabilize the bottom of the drawers to the back are square nails. it features four drawers. None the same size. one large one on the top that is stepped out under which are situated two nicely spiral turned columns which come to rest on a platform that the turned front legs affix to. back legs are also turned. the feet or legs all have casters inserted in them. there is a molded trim along the bottom of the chest. it has a few minor dings here and there, none of which take away from its function or beauty plus there are a couple of small pieces of boards chipped out. they are all small and doubtful any ... morewill show in the pictures. it was faded and sun bleached when i dug it out of the barn. i cleaned it with new life and then rubbed a bit of stain on it and sprayed it with lacquer to dry the stain. i do not think it has ever been refinished. at any rate, it is a nice solid very old dresser. i am starting it for less than i paid years ago. 500 back then would make a pretty good down payment on a new car. it is a fairly large chest being 22.5 inches deep, 43 inches wide, and 48 inches tall. overall a very nice hand crafted empire chest made circa 1860. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyers expense. good luck.
