This quite small metal vase in the French neo-classical style of the Napoleon period(ca. 1800-1830) The detailing, very fine, is just like a full size vase of the Napoleon/Empire period, and the basic form, of course, is the"Medici vase" popular since the 17th century. This little gem was made at some point during the 19th century, perhaps circa 1830 or so, perhaps later in the century when the style was revived. Provenance is a recent auction at the Hotel Drouot of Paris. Dimensions are about 3.5 inches by 3 inches. There is a small dent/ metal flaw at the top rim. Up for bid is a lovely. Delicate, highly ornate and likely French- though unmarked- gold gilded metal hand mirror. The metal work features a top that sports center wreath flanked by ribbon-like decoration. At the bottom of the rounded portion sits another wreath with addition"ribboning" On both sides of the mirror, the bottom on the handle features more decorative elements and the insert is surrounded by clear glass( beads of which I count 5 that are missing which could be easily found and replaced, if desired. Though not marked anywhere that I can find, this has all the typical bells and whistles found on old, original French pieces. It could use a good cleaning but you are buying it as I received it. I truly don't want to disturb the pretty patina on this piece. There have been no repairs or flaws to this lovely piece. It measures approx. 22" long by 9 1/2" high by 6" deep, the figures measure 20" long. Antique Rare Resting Lamb French Tin Chocolate Mold
It was only in the 19th century that chocolate moulds(molds) were used for the first time; around 1830 the first moulds were created with the help of tin-coated metal sheets pressed into shape. Plaster moulds designed by artists were used to make the basic moulds and eventually. With large pressing machines and under high pressure, the first metal moulds were manufactured. Chocolate moulds consisted of two halves(so-called double moulds) and were kept closed by clips or other kinds of locks. Great preowned condition with some minor age appropriate wear. There is some light sand like material in the recessed areas. Possibly an early sand cast piece? No chips. Cracks or repairs. After having consulted a fifth-generation metal smith formerly of Boston. I was told this piece is a mid-19th century, probably French, urn/sculpture/epergne/statue with handmade bolts. There is a(perhaps copper) removable bowl on the top of this, which indicates it might've once been an early Art Deco lamp, French, with a wired globe attached. While my expert thought the piece spelter, there is a possibility it is lead in part. It is VERY heavy, twenty pounds. The patina is amazing! The last owner, a Florida state garden club president, must've won medals with this one! Perhaps it has been kept outside. Note minor flaw comments please. It also could use a bit of tightening. They were window or door grilles that were originally mounted in a wood frame. The front sides of the panels are textured with indentations and creases. They are in very good antique condition with only a small crack on a screw hole on one panel(see photos) They have a great looking patina from over 100 years of use and we guarantee that they are authentic antiques. These candlesticks date to around the 1740s and are of French make. The candlesticks have ornate designs of shells. Scrolls, latticework, and classical masks. The bobeches are removable for ease of cleaning. The shaft of the candlesticks also unscrew from the base. These candlesticks are in fabulous condition. The gilding is in great shape. 19th C FRENCH BRONZE PiERCED HANDLE TAZZA COMPOTE CHERUB BABY ANGEL NEO CLASSIC
This is about 4 5/8' tall x 14.5' across handle tip to tip and the dish itself is about 9.5' across. This is sturdy. Nice and thick& heavy yet still graceful. This is tarnished in some area and long ago it was polished but a patina is starting to form on this so we will leave the surface alone and let the next owners do as they please. This is from a smoke free home. NEVER abused the details and fine art work look very nice and we would rate this a 9 out of 1O as to overall condition. There are no real dings. Chips, nicks or repairs and it has normal were and tear for something around 13O yrs old or so. Shipping is Worldwide and based on where it is headed.
