Antique Decorated Brass Bowl w/ Heavy Patina
I was very tempted to dip this to see how it would come out. But some people like the patina. I put the scratch in the bottom to be sure it's brass. The bowl has a beautiful pressed design that repeats around the outside and measures almost 5" round and 1 3/4" tall. We are buyers. Sellers and traders. Old Antique Heavy Cast Lead, Bronze or Brass Wash Horse Figure Doorstop Bookend
Here's an interesting old or antique mystery item we don't know too much about. It is clearly very old and has acquired a very nice darkened aged appearance. Our best guess is that this is a doorstop and less likely but possibly was a bookend. It is made of thickly casted metal we think is probably lead or a lead alloy with a bronze or brass finish. Wash or plate. At one time it has a bottom piece hand soldered to it that probably stabilized it better for it's intended use. The piece still stands very well for use as a doorstop or decorative knick knack. It is about 7 inches tall about 4.5 inches wide and about 1.125 inches thick at the base. There is a slight curvature to the casting at the top of the horse head and ears we try to show in the pictures. The casting quality at the back shows some rough areas with slight pits, somewhat ... moreprimitive in appearance that seems to also imply great age and the manufacturing methods of earlier times. The piece is surprisingly hefty at about 4.5 lbs. That's about all we know. The pictures should be helpful to those having interest. We'll start this old cast metal horse figure door stop or bookend low so enjoy the auction. When packed this will weigh about 5 lbs so we'll use one of the USPS Flat rate boxes at a fixed rate of $5.80 as the lowest cost postal alternative to the buyer. Antique Solid Brass Pot/Kettle/Bucket/Other? Heavy 6lbs
This is a heavy Antique Solid Brass Pot. Kettle or other? It is 5" tall not counting the handle and with handle is 12" tall and 10" in diameter. Handle is riveted on, does not move and appears to also be brass and a very solid piece of it, I can see the brass color under all that patina. Needs to be cleaned as you can see in pics inside and out, or leave as is, lots of patina and inside is pretty dirty and needs to be cleaned. It's a very unique looking pot but I cannot find any markings anywhere that would indicate who the maker is. This Please email me with any? you may have and remember this is an antique piece and will probably not be in perfect shape, but I see no major issues. Offered for auction: This is a very special vintage wall plate purchased in an antique shop in Lisbon. Portugal 45 years ago and held in my family ever since. The medal is the portrait of Jorge Alvarez. The Portuguese Explorer from the 16th Century who is credited with discovering Macau. The statue of Alvarez that stands in Macau shows a strong resemblance with the portrait on this medallion and the name"Macau" can be seen engraved on the top of the medallion, next to Jorge Alvarez portrait(see pictures#3 and#4) The wall plate is made of heavy cast brass(it weighs bout 2 lbs) Picture#5 shows the back side of the wall plate. Antique Brass Letter or File Holder Made of Brass and decorated on both front and back with leaves and vines in an open. Airy pattern. Both front and back pieces are topped with a scallop and embellished with an oval button towards the bottom. The center section is has an open oval cameo or portrait frame design at the highest point and the leaves and vines design continues to a braided border design before opening into two framed open squares. The letter holder is about 7.75 inches high at its highest point(the center piece) and 6 inches high at the front and back pieces. It is 9.5 inches wide. There is about 1.50 inches of space on both sides(front and back) to fill with letters. Files or what you will. The space is wider at the bottom and tapers towards the top. Use it on your table to hold napkins or serviettes. The inside base of the ... moreholder is a smooth brass piece with two round open cut outs(it reminds us of an electric switchplate. Beyond the plate- on either side- is a 1.5 inch embellishment which also has that same button design. Four"feet" about 1.5 inches long support the holder. The same braided design is on the bottom plate above the feet. The underside base of the holder is very bright and is stamped B&H 3559& 7039. Six(6) very bright brass screws are visible on the underside and hold the components together. Based on the B&H logo. This item may be brass plate over cast iron. There are some brighter and darker areas to this piece. The bottom is very bright. There are some teeny black dots on the smooth bottom plate and some areas of vines and leaves appear black. It hard to tell whether there is some pitting or whether that was the original production molding of the piece caused some teeny voids which look like pits. The manufacturer. no marks but the person who gave this said it was over 100 years old and from the Netherlands originally~ this is the heaviest solid brass pot I have seen. It weighs five pounds and is heavy to tote. Hand forged with three legs all seems to be one piece. the handle is a little crooked but it is heavy as the dickens. look at all the scanned pics closely to see the wear and dings etc. Very heavy primitive Solid Brass- very old and looks to have been used as an ash pot by the interior darkness. This is a magnificent ornate older piece from England dating back to the early 1900's. The letter holder is very well made. Large and quite heavy. It is beautifully designed with cherubs on both sides, and one cherub at the top. The condition is very good with no flaws or defects, despite its great age. There is some oxidation on the bottom, otherwise, it looks great. Also on the bottom, the number 2108, and a crown hallmark(photos 7& 8) There are 2 brass panels with which to store the letters, one taller than the other. DESCRIPTION: Matching pair of elegant antique or vintage heavy brass candlesticks standing 27” tall. We believe these to be European. But are unsure as to where they came from. There are some French and German elements in the form and design, and they are very unusual with nothing quite like them to be found. They are constructed in pieces, and are not one solid piece. They do not attract a magnet, except for 2 of the small areas or joints, they really hold the heat a long time, and when we scratched the base, they are a solid yellow color, it’s not just on the surface. They appear to be solid brass, although the long smooth areas slightly differ in color. These were purchased at a local estate sale from a European couple who traveled around the world. Especially Poland and Russia, because they had large quantities of the raw material. England and France made hollow sticks molded from sheets of brass in technically sophisticated styles. By the second half of the 19th C. Eastern Europe had this ability also. We date these candlesticks 1830 to 1850. The origin of the design was most likely Spain. Traveling through the Netherlands to Eastern Europe. The style is sometimes found with a chunky square foot at each corner. MANY PHOTOGRAPHS BELOW OUR DESCRIPTION. After being cast. Heavy 26" Antique Brass Federal Eagle wall mount 13 pounds Made in the USA
Up for your viewing pleasure and or for bids is a great antique brass wall mount Federal style American Eagle with banner and shield. This eagle has nice dark patina and has a heavy iron wire(1/4"hanger on the back for wall mounting. It weighs a whopping 13 pounds and is 26" wide. I would say the age is around 1910 and maybe earlier probably came from an old court house. Or federal building,etc. It has some white paint drips but it is in excellent shape.
