Very Early Set of Primitive Wrought Iron Scissors Nice Antique Piece AAFA 18th C Description: 18th Century Wrought Iron Scissors Shears Early Antique Examples All blacksmith made. These hand wrought iron scissors date circa 1720-1760, with almost identical examples depicted in George Nuemann's book"Early American Antique Country Furnishings" Page 309, fig 1354) Scissors such as these carried out numerous functions in an early home. From cutting wool off sheep to tailoring clothing, leatherworking, etc. This example is open and moves freely. Note the great hallmark of an"F" within a square near the base of one side of the blade. Measures 7 3/4" in length. From age there is some slight pitting to the surface. We are pleased to offer these beautiful candle sticks! We have seven of these candelebra's all of which came from the same estate. Each is hand forged and beautifully fashioned. The wrought iron is thick and very substantial and the candleabra is heavy. There is intricate detailing with lovely scrolled curves on the arms and the legs. The center shaft features a twisted design with an open"bird cage" twist as the center focal design. The four candle cups and drip pans are nicely patterned as well. The candleabras were in the same estate for many years and all of them are matching(in case you want to purchase multiples) They are in very good. Antique to older vintage condition. From a Palm Beach mansion estate. Bottom part- the stand part. Is 36" high. The candle part is 45 inches tip to tip, hence when inserted into the stand, each candelabra can measure as high as 79-80" and even higher if you extend the"arms" upward rather than in a downward slant. And of course, these can be fully inserted into the bases and become no more than 55" from floor to tip. These were famous in these parts of Palm Beach society luxe- used in the mansion for fundraising galas. They are a matching pair of heavy wrought iron candle holders with scrolls and dimples with Green Verdigris over a copper wash. Magnet sticks to them. Arts& Crafts era and detailing. Measures 9 1/2" tall. No makers marks that I can see. But these were done by a skilled artisan. They are in good condition. One could use a little rebending to make it stand correctly on all four scroll feet. Hammered detailing and with dimples on the top buds that hold the candle. NICE 18th 19th C Colonial Antique Wrought Iron Scissors Shears
7 1/4" Long x 2 3/4" wide An almost identical example can be seen referenced on page 309 of George Nuemann's book"Early American Antique Country Furnishings" fig 1364) Nice example of a high quality pair of blacksmith made shears likely dating circa 1750-1780. Scissor shears such as this were used for a variety of functions such as to cut various articles of cloth. But also could have been used in leather work as well. As you can see they were expertly crafted with the smith working pieces of straight iron into large finger loops. Note the early center rivet and thick blades. Some slight pitting from age. Description: Beautiful heavy antique Victorian handwrought brass and wrought iron cooking/berry pot(often used to make jams and jellies) The pix are taken with a flash and without; the color is about in the middle of the two(there's some patina but it's been cleaned in its century or two lifetime) The bottom has faint concentric rings to it may have been spun. At least in part, perhaps cast and spun. But the walls are quite thick. The handle is fixed(doesn't move) and riveted in place and is especially elegant in the way it graduates to slightly wider at the top. In great condition; no dings. Dents or splits. A bit dulled in the interior; I've not polished or cleaned it, except for a light wipe with a damp cloth. It will shine up beautifully if polished. From an estate auction, here is what I've been told is an antique hair curler. There are some initials on the inside of 1 on the handles only. I can't read them all but a K seems to be the last letter. The middle one may be an F, but I don't know. There may be a first letter or number, but I can't read it. The last pic. in this listing shows the initials which were very hard to get a clear pic. of. No other markings at all on the curler as far as I can find. In this listing I offer antique primitive bed heater. Wormer from Middle East. It’s made of enameled Wrought Iron, with two wood handles. I think, it was filled with hot sand. Items like this, used in 19th and earlier for heating the bed before sleeping time. This metal item is VERY old and sold as is. It's rusted in many places. There are loss of enamelling in some areas. Handle slightly sway. Wood part of handle has scratches. Scuff and broken-off small pieces. There is very small, but deep dent on the metal bracket of the wooden handle. I do not see any other damage. I described even inconspicuous minor damage very detailed. But in general, the item looks very pretty. The fork pictured in the front is marked USSCO and 13 on the handle. And the nice wood handle flesh fork in the back is also hand forged but is unmarked. The frame is wrought iron and is nicely patinated with its original old finish. The glass liner is reverse painted and signed by the artist(Seamonde) The hand painted image of a river is in excellent condition and colors still vibrant with a beautiful three dimensional effect. Overall this piece is in very good antique condition with no damage of any significance. Dimensions: 19" wide. 6" across, and 3" high. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE COPPER LADLE WITH COPPER RIVETED WROUGHT IRON HANDLE
You see this piece as we found it many years ago. It is an antique ladle or dipper hand made from copper with an iron handle riveted to the copper body. We’ve always considered it some sort of ladle because of the spout and the tinned interior indicates that it was used with liquids for human consumption. The ladle is very old but it is impossible to ascertain its’ exact age as the ladle is handmade and bears no maker’s mark. Antique copper seldom is marked. The patina on the iron handle has the“orange peel” texture to the surface that is often found on antique iron. The ladle weighs approximately ½ lb. The copper ladle portion is 3” in height with a base diameter of 2 ¾” The wrought iron handle is approximately 6 ¼” in length and about 3/8” across depending where you measure it. The copper body somewhere in its’ history was ... morepainted black. Over the generations this has worn away from various areas on the piece(see photos) and has long since become part of the surface patina. Given its age as a functional item. It is in good original condition with the usual dings of use wear. The handle is tight and the rivets are secure with no play. The ladle has no holes or repairs.
