Vintage JAPANESE FOODOG ANDIRONS Fire Dogs Lion Cast Iron Figural Antique This is a wonderful pair of vintage Japanese cast metal Andirons or Fire Dogs featuring a Foodog or Lion ball and claw design. The andirons are cast metal(lighter than cast iron) with a gold/brass finish. They do show signs of having been used with age appropriate wear and surface scratches to the gold finish. There is also wear and corrosion to the actual log holders. These could easily be sanded and painted if you so choose. Approx. measurements are 17 1/4" tall. 9" wide and 11 3/8" long/deep(front to back) Would be great for a smaller fireplace. Marked with a raised JAPAN on the back. Really a wonderful pair of antique/vintage andirons. Andirons will be dissembled for shipping however assembly is simple. Primitive Vintage Antique Cast Iron Shield Wall Hanging
Up for auction is this wonderful Primitive Vintage Antique Cast Iron Shield wall hanging plaque. As pictured. The shield is quite ornate with a detailed medieval battle scene in the center, including warriors, horses, swords& shields. Also depicted are angels& the head of a god or goddess above and below is the head of a lion and two figures facing away& downward. Obtained from a Massachusetts estate sale. I do not have information regarding the age of the piece& have not been able to detect a maker’s mark. As pictured, it appears to be very old. Measures approximately 25 inches long– 17 ½ inches wide- 2 ½ inches deep excluding the hanger/bracket in the upper back side. The shield is quite heavy& weighs approximately 14 pounds according to my scale. As pictured in good vintage condition with signs of wear. Oxidation& ... morenice patina. Could use a cleaning but I will leave that to the new owner. The 2 sword tips are removable& will be removed& shipped with the screw fasteners included. Unusual Antique Vintage Victorian Double Cast Iron Inkwell w/ Candle Holder
This is a very unusual and beautiful(1800's? Victorian ink well that is made out of cast iron and features two glass inkwells. Along with a candle holder. There is some kind of bird figure in the center which makes up the base of the candle stick holder and there is also some kind of emblem in the center of the bird creature. There is also a place to hold two quills or pens. On the back of the Gothic framework shows the detailed back of the bird. Almost an Egyptian Deity? The Size is approximately 7 3/8” in height and 9” by 5 ½” wide base. The Condition; it has been painted by someone. There is wax on it in places from someone using a candle as evident in the photos, looks like something was burned in the bowl area.
