The North West and Michigan Territories' The image below shows an enlarged cross section from the centre of the map to show the level of printed detail: The map was originally engraved in 1833(this date is printed on the map) and it depicts the area shown as at that date. Although this edition was published in 1844. The map names"Michigan Territory" as it existed prior to 1837 when it was admitted to the Union as the state of Michigan. West of Lake Michigan, what is now the US state of Wisconsin is named as"Huron or North West Territory" This area became a territorial possession of the United States in 1783 after the American Revolutionary War. However, the British remained in control until after the War of 1812, which finally established an American presence in the area. An influx of miners into the area led to tension with American Indian tribes. This resulted in the Winnebago War of 1827 and the Black Hawk War of 1832 which led to the forced removal of American Indians from most parts of the state. Following these conflicts, Wisconsin Territory was organized in 1836. Continued white settlement led to statehood in 1848. Indian settlements, villages and tribes existing in 1833 are marked on the map as tipi(teepee) symbols, along with some mines and mineral deposits. The Indian boundary concluded in the second and third Treaties of Prairie du Chien of 1829, in which Native American Tribes ceded land in present day Wisconsin and Illinois, is marked on the map as the"Indian Boundary of 1829" Also marked on the map in the Lower Peninsula of Michigan is the"Indian Boundary" resulting from the 1821 Treaty of Chicago and the 1819 Treaty of Saginaw. Fort Crawford& Chicago are marked on the map. DATE PRINTED: This map was originally published by Baldwin& Cradock in 1833; this date is printed

LOVELY PAIR OF ART NOUVEAU NORTH AMERICAN NATIVE INDIAN GILT CAST IRON BOOKENDS
Why not have a look at my other auctions and store items for interesting militaria etc? Here is a lovely set of bookends. Likely made from the 1880's to the 1940's. They are certainly Art Nouveau style but then the Native romantic period approximately spans those years too. These are cast iron with a lovely gold patina, not unlike a Vienna bronze finish. Each is 4 1/4" wide and 3 5/8" tall. The pair is in excellent condition. The fellow depicted is wearing a chief's head dress of eagle feathers, a medallion around his neck and typical choker neckband. They're a great set of turn-of-the-century art and would make a nice addition to any Art Nouveau collection, as well as any library collection. Perfect also for an Art Deco book case. Shipping will be $15 in Canada. $15 in the USA and $25 to all other international ... morelocations. International shipping is airmail only. I automatically combine shipping costs for multiple items Good luck and thanks for looking at one of my auctions. I Accept personal cheques drawn on Canadian banks. TIFFANY STUDIOS, AMERICAN INDIAN LETTER RACK, 2 TIER ACID ETCHED, EXCELLENT~~
For Auction is a bronze Desk Set Item made by Tiffany Studios. New York. This is called a Letter Rack Holder and it is done in Tiffany's Studios most sought after Acid Etched Dore' Patina. This Letter Rack is part of the highly collected bronze"American Indian" Desk Set Pattern. The Letter Rack has some size to it as it stands 5 3/4" tall by 2 3/4" deep and is 11" wide. The Letter Rack has the very desirable"Acid Etched" with large Snowflakes and a naturally aged Brown Dore' Gold) Patina. This is a real Collectors Choice in the Arts& Crafts Style decor. This is one of the most sought after and most Popular Patinas in the Tiffany Desk Set Patterns. The Letter Rack displays wonderful Geometric Patterns and Symbols to Honor"The American Indian" throughout including the back top. It ... morehas 2 separate compartments to hold letters of various sizes. It still retains all 9 of its original mounting screws that hold the bottom and top together. This Letter Rack is quite heavy and will be difficult to knock over as it is solid bronze. The Letter Rack is considered to be in excellent condition as there are no dents. Or dings. This piece shows very minimal wear on the inside bottom. There is some polish residue in some of the grooves. The wear on the inside cannot be seen unless you are looking directly into the compartments. The piece is signed on the bottom with"Tiffany Studios New York" Impressed Mark along with the Pattern Number 1186 for the 2 tier Letter Rack shape. There are also the numbers"8366" and"8355" with a line drawn through it like it was an error. This is more than likely the order number and I believe that to be number 8366. Tiffany started using a 3 digit number for his Fancy Desk Set goods after 1902 subsequently this piece was made circa 1905-1920. This is a quality and hard to find item in the Tiffany Desk Set Items. The Quality and Patina doesn't get much better than this. I'm Sure the Buyer will be delighted

Do use wood and other mediums. Here the finished original clay is now complete. The sculptor will take it to the foundry now, get a bid then begin the first stages of the lost wax process. The first step can be shocking for some as they begin to decide how this original will be cut up. In order to prepare the original clay sculpture for molding. It will be dissected by cutting the clay with wire and by cutting the armature with a saw. The armature is what helped support the clay in place while the artist was creating it. Vintage Rare American Indian Head Metal Match Candle Pencil Holders ?
I really don't know to much about these. I just thought they were really neat when I saw them at an estate sale full of Very unique and old items. They are made of some sort of Pot metal/white metal with a plate molded into the bottom. Each plate affixed to the bottom has two small holes. Not sure what they are for? As you can see by the pictures. The one on the left has a much larger opening, so I am guessing there were two different purposes for these. Part of a Desk Set? Any help would be appreciated. Please feel free to ask any questions. I used a dime for size comparison. But if you need any specific dimensions, let me know. Thanks for stopping by!

Exceptional 19th century gilted, cast iron Native American Indian statue pair
Exceptional. Ca. 19th century cast iron Native American Indian figural statue pair Offered at 7 day no reserve auction is this finely detailed pair of Native American Indian cast iron statues. They most likely date to about 1880 or 1890. Made of cast iron and painted in a gold. gilt' type of paint, this pair measures 10 inches tall and approximately 4 inches wide at the base. After being evaluated by a couple of experts, they feel strongly they are most likely Tobacconist countertop cigar store figures. For clarity, I should also point out they have also been described to me as Stove Finials. I feel they are more likely countertop cigar store displays due to the tobacco leaves in the hair of each, and what appears to be a cigar in the waistband of the Native American man. In either instance they are extremely ornate and beautiful. Condition ... moreis equally exceptional for their age as you can see in the high resolution photos. There is a minute amount of gilt wear at some of the extreme edges as pictured. I would say easily 98 to 99 percent of the gilt is intact. There is no damage to note outside the minute amount of gilt or paint loss. These are truly exquisite figures. Please email should you have any questions or comments. They will be answered quickly. Shipping is based on priority large flat rate box as these figures carry a little bit of weight. Don't miss the chance to add this showpiece pair of figures to your collection today! The start will be low so everyone can participate in the fun. GOOD LUCK! Powered by The free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items.
