Antique Pewter 8 3/4" plate American or English
Early plate just a hair under 8.75 inches across Unique and rare it is a very shallow plate under 1/2 inch Here is what I can say about this plate. While it has a tag that says American Henry Will which would place the plate as being made in the late 1700s. While it does have the characteristics of American make of that age. I cannot guarantee that it is a Will because the one reference I have on H Will marks does not seem to match although he did make 8.75" plates- as did other early American makers. Note the condition. Crack and hole in middle, bite" off rim, typical scratches and some light knife marks. Fine scratching all around the edge- almost seems like it was done on purpose to be decorative? Nice dark patina but not pitting through at all. About the marks- they are very faint. There looks to be the typical 4 small marks(sorry ... morecamera cannot do anything more to pick them up) The first looks to be a bird or eagle with wings spread. Second and third show a little but too far gone to venture a guess. Fourth could be the tops of initials. There may be a large touch that may be a lion rampant- but to be fair maybe I have my mind wanting some wear pattern to look like a touch- it is quite faint. So the markings are consistent with American make. But also with English makers. The booge is veryshallow and does not look to be hammered. Plate bottom has incribed circle line as do many American plates. So there it is. Issues but still very nice piece of pewter- and if you are better at identifying marks than I am, mabe you will find it to be as rare as I suspect. I have some other pewter listed. Antique English Leather/Metal Bucket w Coat of Arms
Offered- A very large English Leather over Metal(Galvanized? Bucket. This is a really spectacular piece measuring 12 1/2 inches tall. It is 6 1/2 inches in diameter at the base and 10 1/2 inches at the top. There is a great old English Coat of Arms on the front of the piece- with some loss- which just adds to the character. There is a very sturdy leather handle which is threaded through very sturdy hoops on each side of the body. The leather has a very nice reddish/chestnut patina which is in extremely good condition. The inside of the bucket is un-finished metal which I have not attempted to clean. This is a really nice piece- with a multitude of uses. Pretty Antique English Brass Pocket Watch Holder - Cherubs, c.1880
About as charming as they come. This Victorian pocket watch stand is made from brass and created from a series of twisted wedding ring motifs, two create the legs on which the holder stands. To the front of the two legs are the most charming pair of Cherub or Putti figures. There is of course a hook to hang one's pocket watch on with a velvet backing to protect the back of the watch, perfect for a small watch about 1 1/4" 1 1/2" in diameter. Fabulous Antique English Cockatoo Vesta / Candelabra / Pocket Watch Stand c.1880
A really unusual and very special cast brass candelabra mounted with the most wonderful Cockatoo in the middle which acts as a Vesta. The head is hinged and opens to reveal the chamber where(non-safety) matches are stored and would have been struck on the intricately cast feathers on the back of the bird. The casting beautifully executed. The Cockatoo retains it's original glass eyes and there is a copper hook below is feet for your pocket watch at night or not in use. A quality and rare piece in excellent condition, having been professionally polished by my silversmith. Excellent condition, the base having a diameter measuring 6 1/4" and standing 8 3/4" tall. Here's another wonderful accoutrement that would have been used in the day_ An Antique English Copper Harvester Ale Measure One Half Gallon Size Reign of George V 1910/1935 DESCRIPTION A handsome. Well used English Copper One Half Gallon Jug This shape is called a Harvester measure. Made of solid copper body with a hollow handle. These were made in England in this same design since 1780. This one has the lead capacity seal on the side of the lip and is marked for the reign of George V, GR and a Crown within a diamond) dating it from 1910 to 1935. These are sometime found together with other similar jugs in varying measurement sizes. Along with the lead capacity mark they were also engraved on the front with the capacity size. This one is engraved 1/2 Gallon. It's been well used over many years and has some dents ... morealong the lower part. We don't see these as a detriment, though, we think it adds character. Certainly still handsome and in good order, still holds water, no leaks. We've given it a light cleaning and polishing. Size" 10" high- 7" across the base- Weighs 3lbs. We show this large 1/2 gallon size that is for sale together here with a 1 pint size and a 1/2 pint size both of these smaller jugs will be offered for sale soon. Antique 18th Century John Jupe Large Pewter Charge English Signed
Early 18th Century Pewter Charger Old estate find from the home of a collector. This is a nice 18th Century Pewter Piece. It was made by John Jupe(1737-1760) in London. It is marked on the back with a touchmark of a rose with a Fleur-de-lis and IOHN above, IUPE below with curved reserves and a palm frond to either side on the underside of the rim. The secondary mark is a rose with crown, above that it says MADE IN and below it should say LONDON, but the London is hard to make out. There is a quality mark of an X with a crown above that is stamped on the underside of the rim between the two marks. The charger has a hook on the back for hanging. It is in good antique condition with a dark ring mark near the bottom and some tarnish on the left rim and a little rough spot. I have not tried to clean it. Mr. Akam's company disappeared shortly after 1910. He moved back to New York where he retired and died April 8. 1920. Fannie moved to Florida.

A really unusual inkwell in beautifully polished bronze. Having been professionally re-polished to gleam, by my silversmith. The inkwell is actually in the form of a Cauldron supported by three crossed dip pens appearing like a campfire. Underneath in the centre of the base, is a set classical Wedgwood or Jasperware plaque. The inkwell contains a removable glass liner, for easy refilling and cleaning. A handsome and most unusual piece with a base diameter measuring 6 1/2" x 7" tall. A few minuscule dints, insignificant and mentioned purely for accuracy. Excellent condition. A wonderful and highly decorative desk or counter bell. Unusual with a folding clapper to the side rather than the ones you ring from the top. The bell is rung by using the clapper itself and when released, gives a clear and authoritative ring. The clapper is made to fold up underneath the bell for travel. A HANDSOME OLD PAIR of CAST& TURNED BRASS CANDLESTICKS of an apparently QUITE RARE FORM. VERY GOOD CONDITION with FINE OLD PATINA A dent on the bottom rim of one. Certainly fully removable. See details below. CIRCA 1850. Offered is a very fine& heavy old pair of brass candlesticks. Approximately 8-1/4 inches(21 cm) high with a base diameter of 3-3/4 inches(9.5 cm) Together they weigh 2 pounds, 8.8 ounces(1156 grams) Admittedly with very little brass candlestick expertise. But with a substantial library and a knack for Internet research, I've found the combination of design& crafting details of these sticks to be quite unusual: specifically the faceted& reverse tapered central baluster form elements. But I'm therefore lost for any specific attributions for either date/age or country/location. I do.
