Rare Antique Continental Pewter Punchbowl I am not really a pewter dealer. But I believe this old punch bowl is a very unusual form. I think it is beautiful, well designed and finely finished. I believe it is an early 18th century style, and could very well be of the period. Collectors and pewter dealers here on eBay will be able to determine the age from my photos, I am sure. The family had used this bowl as a centerpiece, there was a flower frog attached with clay in the bottom when I got it. The water has oxidized and scaled the interior somewhat, but the condition is otherwise excellent. This large bowl easily holds a gallon of punch. The hallmarks are the angel Michael with sword over a demon with the initials P I S the crowned rose mark appears to also have the I S on the clear right side of the touch. I assume a"P" would ... morebe on the missing left side. These may be maker or regional marks.I am not familiar with pewter marks. Something has been scratched out as my photos show.presumably a previous owner's name or inventory. RARE 1880's ANTIQUE DUTCH PEWTER MEASURES- Up for your consideration is 6 PC. Set of antique pewter measures. They are all in great condition considering their age.Each measure is marked with the size of the contents: 1 Liter. ½ liter, 1 deciliter, ½ deciliter and 2 centiliter and a centiliter as well as the marks of the measure master. The measure master is the man, who in old times would ensure that a liter served was really a liter and so on. Upon having measured this he would put a stamp in the side of the container, signifying that it was so. Weighing is a centuries old custom, as witnessed in several buildings, still in existence today that were used just for measuring. Anyone who has ever been to the center of Amsterdam, probably saw the"Waag" now a restaurant, but in the 17th and 18th century a place where ... moremerchants had their wares weighed. waag being Dutch for scale) This all important building is very close to the harbor, where all the merchant ships brought in their wares. These measures all bear the stamps of the measure master and are marked on the bottom with a pewter stamp. The tallest of the measures is 8 3/8 inches tall and 4 1/2 inches across the top not counting the handle. The smallest is 2 inches tall. The bed warmer has a very nice hand wrought brass handle with a ring for hanging. The pan is engraved with a Dutch steam ship on the open water with the sun rising and birds flying in the air. Below the scene reads An Old Dutch Steamer. The handle is attached to the pan with 3 copper rivets. The way that this piece is made reminds me of the 18thC Dutch tobacco boxes. Antique Pair Dutch Revival Embossed Metal Candlestick Holders/Renaissance
This is a pair of antique heavily embossed hollow metal candlesticks done in the Dutch Revival Style. They show scenes from the Dutch domestic life in the 17th century. If you look closely you can see various figures in a variety of scenes along with lots of ornate scrolling designs. They measure 13" high and 5" at base. The opening for the candle is 1" The condition is very good used. The candlesticks are slightly different in color as one is more tarnished than the other. They appear to have a layer of brass that has either rubbed off over time or is covered in a dark patina. One candlestick has a few drops of a beige colored paint on top(see photo) There are no cracks or dents in either holder. The markings are 2 pipes and a windmill in the middle. This is a beautiful Dutch copper candleholder or chamberstick. It measures approximately 8 1/2” in length(including the handle) 5” in width and 1 3/8” in height. It weighs approximately 3/4‘s of a lb. avoir. There is no maker’s mark on the piece which is no surprise as most antique functional copper pieces are not marked. Its’ boat shape and shallow draft with steep sides suggests to us that it may have been used on a boat or barge, etc. The chamberstick is handmade and it has soldered joining. We are not metal experts by any means; however, based on our research, we believe this piece to be Dutch. A virtually identical chamberstick but in brass may be referenced at the Dutch website, MATHIEU HART, ANTIQUES” Amsterdam) item# B.080. It is dated c. 1800. A beautiful brass Dutch Tea Kettle with an extremely rare Brass Burner Stand with a double bottom This magnificent brass teapot of sturdy construction was probably made around early 1700 in the province of Friesland. Holland. The repousse work is of excellent quality and the casting of the spout is superb. A truly unique piece of eighteenth century workmanship and of inspirational design. The bottom plate is braziered onto the dove-tailed body. The stand has three fleur-de-lis supports and has three vestigial handles. The pierced brass is of exceptional quality and design. The brass bottom is protected from the burning charcoal by a steel insert that hangs into the bottom brass basin without touching the brass. The feet and supports are cast brass. A spectacular DutchTea Kettle with extremely elaborate decorations This uniquely decorated teapot of beautiful red copper construction was probably made around early 1700 in the province of Friesland. Holland. The repousse work is of excellent quality and the casting of the base and handle decorations is of the highest quality. This kettle was likely made after silver examples of that period. A truly unique piece of antique workmanship of superb design. The bird finial on the lid is a separate casting and attached to the lid. The foot rim is brazied on as often done in the 1600s. The top handle is also of thicker metal that was frequently done in the 17th century. The decorations consist of swans. Flowers and tropical birds. Antique Pair of Dutch Heemskerk Candlesticks, ca. 1675
A rare pair of antique Dutch Heemskerk Candlesticks with mid-stem Drip Pans. This pair of candlestick is made of cast brass. The inverted acorn knop dates this pair to around 1675. After 1650 the ridge-ball knop began to decline in favor of the type presented here. The candle cups are pierced on opposite sides with round holes to allow for easy removal of the candle rests. The candlesticks have a wonderful glow and the candle light will be reflected in the drip pans. No collection is complete without a true pair of Heemskerk candlesticks. The candlesticks are about 7 inches tall and have a drip pan of about 3 inches in diameter and a base of about 3.25 inches in diameter. The candlesticks are in excellent condition for their age. Antique Dutch Woman and Man Metal bookends or doorstops Unique Dutch Woman and Man metal book ends or door stop. Not sure what type of metal it is made of a magnet will not stick to them. The book end are heavy at 5lb 2 1/2oz. The each stand at least 5 1/8 inches high and are 4 1/4 inches wide the base is a little under 2 inches deep. These do need cleaned up they are dusty.
