There was a worn piece of wrapping paper around this little mirror. And just one piece of it was saved. The last photo shows that paper! It has"1 Augest Thonsen 1878" That's what it looks like to me, but maybe I'm not seeing it correctly! The overall size of this old mirror is 8" x 14 1/2" tall. The actual mirror size is 5 1/2" x 9 3/4" tall. An expert said it is diamond dust, but I can't guarantee that. The best way to tell if it really is diamond dust is when it's damaged. This one is in encased in wood with screws and has been in a dry climate(Denver) for over 136 years, so there's no damage! The"burled" walnut is a veneer, and that's easy to see when you look at the back of it! Antique 1800s Dresser 19th Century Chest of Drawers Walnut Wood FREE SHIPPING
19th Century Chest of Drawers This is a fantastic piece of historical furniture. This is a chest of drawers or dresser from the early to mid 1800's. It appears to be constructed primarily of walnut wood. There are several distinguishing features that influence our opinion as to the date of this piece: The dresser was constructed with square-head nails. Which were used from the late 1700's to the late 1800's. It is constructed of solid-wood boards measuring up to 16" in width. Which could only have been made from very large trees long ago. The dovetails used to construct the front and back of the drawers are all hand-cut. The smallest drawer has 3 tails and 4 pins. And the larger drawers have up to 5 tails and 6 pins. The drawer bottoms are chamfered, meaning the front and side edges and the drawer bottoms are finished at ... morea slop. While the inside top of the drawer is flat. This was cut and finished by hand-held tools, which is an indication that it is pre-1840. All of the saw cuts in the wood appear to be parallel rather than circular. This indicates the use of mill saws during construction. The wood also appears to be hand-planed. The dresser features turned-wood pulls. Which we believe to be original. It also has paneled sides, which was a feature in many early Philidelphia chests of drawers. This piece is in good. Antique condition overall with some general signs of age and use. There is a significant crack in the drawer second from the top. It is still structurally sound. All of the drawers have locks, but we do not have the matching key. This piece has cracks, wear, chips, discoloration and repairs that are consistant with a piece of this age. The"flaws" only contribute to the primateive nature of this chest of drawers. They quietly tell the stories of its life. The dresser measures 45 7/8" tall by 42 5/8" wide by 20" deep. The drawer faces are all 36" wide. The height of the drawer faces from top to bottom are: 1st- 9 3/4" 2nd- 5 3/4" 3rd- 6 3/4"

Very nice. Unusual Victorian burl walnut lockside dresser with butlers desk. I haven't seen one with a desk in it like this one before. If there was an insert to the desk, it is long gone. It appears to have had some type of galley rail on it at one time. It has a small stain on the top and the key is missing(shouldn't be too hard to find one that fits it) Absolutely gorgeous. Antique burled walnut dresser/sideboard/credenza/bureau. It has a white demilune beveled marble top and large center mirror. On either side of the mirror there are two curved cabinets with a shelf in each. Picture 10 shows a small piece of veneer at the top left that has come unglued and a couple of marks. There are three large graduated drawers. On the bottom of each side of the drawers there are two curved cabinets with a shelf in each. The four cabinet curved doors are finished on the inside. All the drawers and cabinets have locks. I have the key for the top left cabinet. The drawers have the original carved wood pulls. It stands 79" high. 48" wide, and 25" deep. The marble has no cracks. The piece is in fine condition. for sale a very wonderful antique john jelliff deep well dresser. constructed of the finest walnut lumber of the day with great burl accents just in the right places. it was made circa 1870. it is all original except the mirror. i have owned it for years and the old mirror never bothered me. But is was very smokey and had lost a good bit of silver backing, so i did replace it before i listed it. the mirror is just like the one that was in it, heavy 1/4 inch plate glass heavy mirror. it features very nice candles stands, great crest and swirls of carving at the edges of the formed top crest. it has all the original tear drop pulls, some of which have lost a bit of paint over the years from use. the drawer joints are hand cut dovetails. it is in near mint original condition. it has a secret drawer at the bottom, then two large drawers all the ... moreway across and two top drawers, one for top of each outer portion. the drawers slide like butter, work perfectly. the marble is all original to the piece and is in perfect condition and is very fine carrara marble. it is a wonderful and beautiful piece of furniture. i expect at a high end antique shop it would have a price tag of at least 5K on it. i am starting it at what i paid for it a long time ago. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at the buyer's expense. good luck btw. The beautiful burled walnut front and top is accompanied by walnut cross banding on the edges of the drawers and around the top. This walnut has developed an almost almond brown color over the years and is quite attractive with the swirled grain. Although the chest has locks. No key remains. ... moreAll of the five drawers are well opening drawers with Hepplewhite style brass batwing pulls. Each drawer was constructed with hand cut dovetails, a sign of age and craftsmanship. Tall bracket feet finish the piece off nicely at the bottom. You will notice that the top and bottom mouldings appear to have been done in sections. We believe this was intentional and it does not appear like repairs. The wood has developed crackling over the drawer fronts and top surface. This gives the chest a distressed look and provides character and charm to an already lovely dresser! Other minor dings and marks can be found here and there as you would expect from something of this age. Overall this burled walnut chest of drawers is in very good condition. Some talented woodcrafter made it and the bottoms of the drawers and the boards on the back are handhewn. It is walnut and even though some of the boards on the back have been replaced they are walnut also. The drawer runners have been replaced so that the drawers work easily. Other than than and the back. It is all orginal. The top has had some minor repair that is shown in two of the pictures. The piece has 4 drawers, top one extends out over the rest giving it a very elegant look. The top is 45" wide, 21 1/2" deep at the top drawer and 20" deep the rest of the way down. There are 4 drawers as you can see, roomy. I show a picture of the dovetails on the drawers, also the inside of one of the drawers with a knothole. Antique Victorian Dresser & Mirror w/ Hidden Drawer Walnut & Oak 1800s
Offered for sale is this 19th Century Victorian dresser and Mirror combo made from Oak. Walnut and Poplar. To the best of my knowledge it has not been refinished. The number"81" is stamped into the back of the mirror in two different places. I can find no other markings. Hidden drawer has at one time had the bottom replaced with newer thin plywood. It is only visible when pulled out and upside down. Dimensions are Width-39 Depth-20 Height-73* When unlatched. The mirror tilts forward and backward. Drawers all operate smoothly. Antique Dresser, Hand-carved Walnut &Leaf Pulls, Price greatly reduced!
Will ship if you make arrangements. This dresser was handmade in the Midwest during the Civil War period. Likely before 1860. The back of the dresser shows it belonged to Henry Wims(Williams) An ex-slave according to the News-Palladium from Benton Harbor Michigan(Saturday, April 1, 1950(pg.9) Henry came up to Benton Harbor from Kentucky through Indiana in 1882. When he was a young man, about 20 years of age. He had been to Louisville where the cars stopped and where there was a great concentration of Union soldiers during the Civil war and decided to follow the railroad north and see where the tracks joined the"Underground railway" that he had heard so much about. Also, his wife's father lived at St. Joseph, where there were many ex-slaves and their descendants. His travels brought him to Benton Harbor. The solid walnut dresser ... morehas hand-carved walnut and leaf pulls. Hand-dovetailed drawers and square nails show expert craftsmanship. Finish is excellent with warm antique patina. There are minor stains and likely some wax drippings of candles on the top; missing and broken trim on the bottom left; broken side edge at the back right of the dresser. see photos) Size of this classic American furniture is 40"wide. 17 3/4" deep, and 39" tall.
